"Summer School in Political Science and Diplomacy" - July 11 - 16, Guba

"Bir Konullu" Students Cooperation Public Union and Baku Slavic University will jointly organize a Summer School Program in Political Science and Diplomacy in Guba region on July 11 - 16.  The purpose of the summer school is to create an effective platform for students to critically analyze and objectively assess the current political and economic situation in the modern world, accurately predict future processes, and participate in interactive discussions on various political issues.  Eligibility:  •    Final year undergraduate students studying in international relations, international studies, international law, political science and regional studies;  •    Recent graduates, master's degree students, and young professionals on above mentioned fields;  •    Young people with high motivation, initiative, strategic and systematic thinking skills, personal efficiency, ability to work in team and make right decisions; • Fluency in spoken and written English. (Knowing other languages are preferable)  During the summer school, lectures will be organized by highly qualified instructors and experts. Minister of Education attends the 5th meeting of the Scientific Council of the International Turkic Academy

On 24 June, the Minister of Education Emin Amrullayev took part in the 5th meeting of the Scientific Council of the International Turkic Academy in Nur-Sultan, the capital of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Speaking at the meeting, the Minister of Education noted the importance of cooperation between the Turkish states in the field of education, including the importance of preparing joint textbooks. He stressed the importance of expanding the scope of existing cooperation programs in the field of education with the support of the International Turkiс Academy. The Minister of Education suggested that one of the events included in the International Turkiс Academy's Plan of Activity be held this year in liberated Shusha. In two sided meetings held between the Minister of Education Emin Amrullayev and the Minister of Education and Science of the Kyrgyz Republic Almazbek Beishenaliyev and Minister of Science and Higher Education of Kazakhstan Nurbek Aliyev under the 5th meeting of the Scientific Council of the International Turkic Academy, issues of cooperation in education were discussed and several proposals were voiced. The Minister of Education Emin Amrullayev also took part in the ceremony of hoisting the flag of Uzbekistan, which has been granted observer status in the organization, in front of the International Turkic Academy. The Minister of Education then attended an event to mark the 150th anniversary of the birth of Ahmad Baitursynov, a public and political figure of Kazakhstan.  Emin Amrullayev spoke about Ahmаd Baitursynov's contribution to the educational, scientific, cultural creativity of the Kazakh people and the peoples of the Turkic world, noting that studying the life and activities of thinkers of the Turkic world and promoting their heritage in the world would further strengthen spiritual and cultural relations between Turkic-speaking states.

Minister of Education visits Kazakhstan

A delegation led by the Minister of Education Emin Amrullayev is visiting the Republic of Kazakhstan to attend the 5th meeting of the International Turkic Academy.   On 23 June, the delegation visited “Quantum” STEM School in Nur-Sultan and the Nazarbayev Intellectual School, and got acquainted with the conditions created at both educational enterprises.   The delegation was informed in detail about the achievements of both educational enterprises. There was expressed an interest in cooperation with partners from Azerbaijan.   On that date, the delegation also visited a vocational college and a college of catering and service. During the visit, the delegation got acquainted with the activities of the educational enterprises and the conditions created for students there.   On the same day, the Minister of Education Emin Amrullayev met with Kazakhstan's Education Minister Askhat Aimagambetov. During the meeting the prospects for the development of existing cooperation between the two countries in the field of education were discussed, and the importance of exchanging experience in areas of mutual interest was emphasized.

The "CyberCamp 2022" will be held

The “CyberCamp 2022" summer camp will take place from 4 to 9 July 2022 in Guba district, organized by "One Volunteer" Students' Cooperation Public Union and the Institute of Education.   The project aims to bring together students and young people who want to improve themselves in cybersecurity and have career goals in this field, to involve them in teamwork and to create conditions for obtaining new employment opportunities.   During the “CyberCamp”, participants will experience hands-on training in a cybersecurity lab environment in the following areas: Laboratory studies covering security flaws found in web-based software and categorised by "TOP 10 OWASP" (in CTF form); Updating privileges in operating systems; Tasks related to malware analysis and reverse engineering; Tasks related to cryptography. The following persons are envisaged to participate in the summer camp: Undergraduate students in the third and fourth years of study in computer science, information security, information technology or cybersecurity, as well as students enrolled in the Master's program; Students of other specialties with knowledge and skills in the above-mentioned fields. A test examination will be organized to check the initial knowledge of registered participants. First graduation ceremony of a dual degree master program between Azerbaijan State Pedagogical University and George Washington University

First graduation ceremony of a dual degree master program in “Educational Policy and Administration” between Azerbaijan State Pedagogical University (ASPU) and George Washington University (GWU) of the USA was held on June 13.       In his opening remark at the ceremony, ASPU rector Jafar Jafarov noted that the first of the dual degree programs signed with foreign universities under the state program is the program implemented between ASPU and GWU. There are currently 50 people enrolled in two courses in the program. Students study on the program completely free of charge. Starting this year, the enrolment plan for the program has been increased from 25 to 40 places. Classes in the program are conducted in English by experienced teaching staff of ASPU and GWU. The rector noted that out of the 24 people admitted to the program for 25 places allocated in the first year, 22 master's students are graduating from the program today and for the first time in Azerbaijan, they receive a master's degree in “Educational policy and Administration” from GWU in addition to ASPU's master's degree.   At the end of his speech, the rector congratulated the first graduates of the program and their families.   Speaking at the graduation ceremony Minister of Education Emin Amrullayev said that today's diploma awarding ceremony is distinguished with its historical significance, as this program is an indicator of work done by the state and government of Azerbaijan to develop education. The Minister of Education added that the impact of this and similar programs aimed at training specialists for the Azerbaijani society and economy will affect the further development of our national education sector and the lives of thousands of people.   For his part, Colin Green, professor at the School of Education and Human Development, expressed his satisfaction with the successful collaboration and congratulated the graduates.   The Dean of the School of Education and Human Development at the George Washington University, Dr. Michael Feuer conveyed his greetings in a video message.   At the end of the ceremony, the graduates were presented with honorary diplomas.   It should be noted that this program is being implemented in accordance with the cooperation agreement signed between ASPU and GWU as part of the "State Program on Enhancing International Competitiveness of the Higher Education System in the Republic of Azerbaijan for 2019-2023", which was approved by the relevant decree of the President of Azerbaijan.   The dual degree program, funded by the State Oil Fund, is being implemented at ASPU to train world-class master administrators in education.

Deputy Minister of Education Mukhtar Mammadov met with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Finland to the Republic of Azerbaijan Kirsti Narinen on June 13.   They discussed the current state and prospects of cooperation between the two countries in the field of education.

Minister of Education meets with the Ambassador of the Czech Republic to Azerbaijan

On the 9th of June, the Minister of Education Emin Amrullayev met with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Czech Republic Milan Ekert, who is completing his mission in our country.   During the meeting, the current state and prospects of cooperation between the Ministries of Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Czech Republic in the field of education were discussed.   The parties praised the provision of "Merkur construction kits" to schools in Garavelli, Meisari, Muganli, Gizmeydan and Angakharan villages of Shamakhi district as part of the "Aid to Development" project, as well as the repair work carried out at a secondary school named after Rajabov in Kareveli village of Shamakhi district as part of the "Ensuring energy efficiency" project. Both projects were implemented within the framework of cooperation with the Czech Republic in the field of education.

Minister of Education awards the winners of the contest within "TEKNOFEST Azerbaijan” festival

On May 29, there was an awarding ceremony for the teams that won the second and third places in the competitions held as part of "TEKNOFEST Azerbaijan" festival. The Minister of Education Emin Amrullayev awarded the prize to the “Metaverse” team from Ganja FRITL and “SUM Builders” from school № 81 of Baku, that won the second and third places in category A of the “Baku Skills” competitions within the festival. It should be noted that within the framework of «TEKNOFEST Azerbaijan” festival, 8 contests were organized among high school and university students and startups – “Baku Skills”, “Unmanned Aerial Vehicles”, “Robotics”, “AgroTech”, “Social Innovations”, “Amateur Satellite Modeling”, “GLIDER” and “Green Technologies”. Competitions were held among the participants in 3 categories. More than 1000 teams, formed of more than 5 thousand young people, applied for participation in the competitions.

Deputy Minister of Education meets with.the head of the British Council for the European Region

On May 27, Deputy Minister of Education Mukhtar Mammadov met with Joanna Burke, head of the British Council for the European Region.   At the meeting, the parties discussed the current state of and prospects for further development of bilateral cooperation in the field of education.

Educational stands at the "TEKNOFEST Azerbaijan" festival

The opening ceremony of our country's first festival, “TEKNOFEST Azerbaijan”, took place on May 26.   At the opening ceremony, the Minister of Education Emin Amrullayev familiarized himself with the stands where the Ministry of Education is represented. During the familiarization with the stands, the Minister in a conversation with students and pupils noted that it was encouraging that they took part in this festival with great interest.   Emin Amrullayev expressed the hope that the festival will serve as a bridge to the historical achievements of our youth related to the development of digital technology, and thanked the organizers.   It should be noted that the Ministry of Education was represented at the festival by “Baku Skills” competition, organized by the STEAM project for schoolchildren and students, projects presented by a number of higher educational institutions, and 3 projects reflecting the activities of the Ministry of Education of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic.
