On April 05, the 8th meeting of subcommittee on employment and social issues, public health, training, education and youth, culture, information society and audiovisual policy, science and technological issues was held in the framework of the European Union – Azerbaijan Cooperation Committee.   On behalf of Azerbaijan, the delegation consisting of the representatives of the Ministries of Digital Development and Transportation, Labour and Social Protection of Population, Youth and Sport, Culture, Health participated at the meeting co-chaired by the Ministry of Education.   During the meeting, it was discussed the current position and future perspectives of the cooperation between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the European Union on the issues covered by the said subcommittee.

On April 05, the President of Azerbaijan Basketball Federation Emin Amrullayev met with the President of Georgian Basketball Federation Viktor Sanikidze who visits our country.   Visiting Alley of Honor before the meeting, the memory of National Leader Heydar Aliyev and prominent ophthalmologist scientist Zarifa khanum Aliyeva was respectfully commemorated, the wreath and flower bouquets were laid down in front of their graves. Then Alley of Martyrs was visited. The memory of martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the independence of Azerbaijan was respectfully commemorated, the flowers were arranged over their graves.   Then the thoughts on the development of basketball and possible cooperation perspectives were exchanged, the works to be done together in future were discussed at the meeting attended by the officials of the federations.

On April 2, the groundbreaking ceremony of Italy-Azerbaijan University was held in the campus of ADA University in Baku. The Minister of Education Emin Amrullayev, the Minister of Foreign Affairs Jeyhun Bayramov, the Minister of Energy Parviz Shahbazov and the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Republic of Italy Luigi Di Mario participated in the groundbreaking ceremony.    It was stated in the groundbreaking ceremony that the academic programs to be established in the said university will cover the strategic sectors of economy and train highly qualified specialists. The University will be the center of science and knowledge where practice, know-how, technology and innovations for agriculture and food security, engineering, electricity and electronics, transportation and infrastructure engineering, architecture, town-building and landscape architecture, design, interior design and other directions will be applied. It shall be noted that this university of which foundation was laid down was established by the initiative of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev. The agreement on the establishment of Italy-Azerbaijan University was reached in 2020 during the state visit of President Ilham Aliyev to the Republic of Italy. Italy-Azerbaijan University will operate on the basis of ADA University. Five leading higher education institution, including Luiss University, University of Bologna, Polytechnic University of Milan, Turin Polytechnic University and Sapienza University of Rome have been involved in the establishment of Italy-Azerbaijan University. In this regard, the Memorandum of Understanding on establishment of Italy-Azerbaijan University and academic cooperation in this direction was signed between ADA University and the above-mentioned universities of Italy last year.

On March 29, a handover ceremony was held to present tablets to schools as part of the grant project "Capacity Building of Teachers and Establishment of the Education Information System for the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan".   The ceremony was attended by Deputy Minister of Education Mukhtar Mammadov, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Korea to Azerbaijan Lee Eun Yong and Country Director of the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) Moon Jong Hyun.   Speaking at the event, Deputy Minister Mukhtar Mammadov emphasized the dynamic development of cooperation between Azerbaijan and Korea in the field of education, noting that Baku Engineering University and Korea's INHA University have implemented a dual degree program in engineering at the undergraduate level. The Deputy Minister highly appreciated the contribution of the Korean International Cooperation Agency to the development of cooperation between the two countries in the field of education.   Following that, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Lee Eun Yong stated that the Republic of Korea is interested in further expanding its educational cooperation with Azerbaijan.   A handover act for the presentation of 875 tablets to be distributed to general education institutions across the country as part of the grant project "Capacity Building of Teachers and Establishment of the Education Information System for the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan" was signed at the conclusion of the event.

On March 16, the Minister of Education Emin Amrullayev met with the Head of Higher Education Council of the Republic of Turkey Erol Ozvar in the framework of the meeting. The business trip of the delegation led by the Minister of Education Emin Amrullayev to the Republic of Turkey began on March 16.   The Minister of Education Emin Amrullayev met with the Minister of National Education of Turkey Mahmut Ozer in the framework of the visit. During the meeting there was exchange of views about the current position and perspectives of cooperation in the field of general and vocational education between two countries.   The parties emphasized their satisfaction with the visit of the staff consisting of 25 students and accompanying teachers of Azerbaijan to Chanakkale city of Turkey on March 15-22 of the current year on the basis of agreement reached on the promotion of the mutual visits of the students of general educational establishments of two countries.   It was mentioned that it was planned the visit of the staff consisting of students and teachers of general educational establishments of Turkey to Baku and the liberated areas in May-June of the current year.

1337.edu.az  website was inaugurated for the purpose of providing the increase of awareness on cybersecurity. The main aim of creating the resource is forming theoretical knowledge and practical skills on cybersecurity, fight against cybercriminals among the users of different age group. At the same time, it is planned to organize the community events and to form healthy environment for internet usage in the framework of the project for the purpose of extension of the cybersecurity understanding in the educational establishments.   Each internet user of different age group may get acquainted with the innovations in the field of information security and share information on different categories by signing up on 1337.edu.az website.   On the website there is “Discussion Forum” section where blog posts on information security are regularly placed by specialists on cybersecurity. As well as, in this section it is discussed significant issues such as “Incident management and responsive measures”, “Penetration tests”, etc. and their solutions are showed.   It shall be noted that 1337.edu.az resource was established as a result of successful product of “Cybersecurity” training project of the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan directed to improvement of knowledge and skills on cybersecurity and fight against cybercriminals and it is supported by Education System Informatization Department.

On March 11, the Minister of Education Emin Amrullayev visited the region of Aghdash. The opening ceremony of STEAM Centre in boarding-type gymnasium oriented technical, humanitarian and nature subjects named after M. Sheykhzade of Aghdash city was held in the framework of the visit.  Before the ceremony the memorial of Great Leader Heydar Aliyev was visited, the flower bouquets were laid in front of it.  Participating in the opening ceremony, the Minister of Education Emin Amrullayev got acquainted with the condition created in the Centre for students.  It was mentioned that the Centre is regional in nature. So, it is intended that the students from the villages of Aghdash region, as well as from Yevlakh, Barda, Ujar, Mingachevir and Kurdamir may benefit the opportunities created in this Centre.  Stating that it has been already put into operation such STEAM Centre in several regions, the Minister of Education mentioned that it is planned to build a total of 15 STEAM Centres across the country. Emin Amrullayev said that STEAM approach will provide the modernity of the education in Azerbaijan, as well as help the students to acquire necessary knowledge and skills.  It shall be noted that it is planned to extend STEAM project currently covering the students more than 100 thousand for country in the next academic year.  The aim of the project is to form critical, creative thought, skills of collaborating and other XXI century skills, to create the opportunity of learning through creative process in the students. As well as, combining the subjects in unified learning model based on the applications in the directions of the solution of integrative, real issues, improving the capability of using modern ICT equipment by applying different programming languages are among the aims of the project.

On March 09, the Minister of Education Emin Amrullayev met with Seyyed Abbas Mousavi, the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the Republic of Azerbaijan.     During the meeting, it was discussed the current situation of the relation in the field of education and possible cooperation perspectives between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Islamic Republic of Iran.
