    Azərbaycan SSR Xalq Komissarları Sovetinin 28 aprel 1920-ci il tarixli qərarı ilə Xalq Maarifi Nazirliyinin adı dəyişdirilərək Xalq Maarifi Komissarlığı adı ilə yenidən təşkil edilib və ölkədəki bütün təhsil müəssisələri bu qurumun tabeliyinə verilib.

The Minister of Science and Education holds a briefing for the media

The Minister of Science and Education held a briefing for the media on 23 August. At the briefing, Minister of Science and Education Emin Amrullayev made a broad presentation on the new decision to assign monthly increments to the salaries of some education employees. Speaking about the essence of assignment of additional payments to the salaries of the executives of general education institutions, Emin Amrullayev said that the decision covers about 865 principals, 2,343 deputy principals. Speaking about the additions to the salaries of certified teachers, the Minister of Science and Education said that as an incentive measure in connection with the certification, a 10 percent addition will be added to the salaries of teachers who have scored a passing grade and a 35 percent addition will be added to the salaries of teachers who have scored over 50 points. According to the Minister, the certification serves to determine the professional level of currently employed teachers. The Minister of Science and Education also informed about the recruitment process for teachers, State Program for education of young people at higher education institutions of foreign countries for 2022-2026 and the main activity directions of the Ministry of Science and Education. At the end of the briefing, numerous questions from the media representatives were answered.

Letter of Appreciation from the Deputy Secretary-General of UNESCO

UNESCO Deputy Secretary-General for Education Stefania Giannini addressed a letter of thanks to Vafa Yagublu, the Head of the Department of Content, Training, Evaluation in General and Preschool Education of the Ministry of Science and Education for her fruitful work in the international expert group. A letter was sent to the Head of the Department for her fruitful work in the international expert group set up to revise the 1974 UNESCO Recommendation concerning Education for International Understanding, Co-operation and Peace and Education relating to Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms.   It should be noted that the International Expert Group is composed of experts with more than 15 years' experience in the field of education, who are involved in the preparation of relevant legal documents. The 1974 Recommendation Document concerning Education for International Understanding, Co-operation and Peace and Education relating to Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms, revised and prepared by an expert group, is scheduled to be adopted at the 43rd session of the UNESCO General Conference in 2023.

The Minister of Education is on a visit to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland

On the 19th of July , the Minister of Education Emin Amrullayev has met with representatives of educational institutions providing state-of-the-art technology services related to education at Great Britain's largest business network “British Expertise” during his business visit to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.   On the 20th of July, at the House of Lords, Emin Amrullayev has met with leaders and representatives of prestigious universities of both the world and the UK, such as the University of Warwick, Newcastle University, Durham University, University of Leicester. This meeting was initiated by Baroness Emma Nicholson, Trade Envoy of the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland to Azerbaijan.    During the meeting, the Minister informed of projects and initiatives currently being implemented in our country in the field of higher education, including the "State Program for the education of young people at prestigious higher education institutions of foreign countries for 2022-2026" and "State Program on increasing the international competitiveness of higher education system in the Republic of Azerbaijan for 2019-2023".  It was noted that 36 Azerbaijani citizens are currently studying for doctoral studies in the UK in various fields under the State Program. The dual diploma programs, as well as the prospects of cooperation under the new State Program were discussed.

Azerbaijani students claim four medals at the 54th International Chemistry Olympiad

The 54th International Chemistry Olympiad (IChO) was held online in China from 10 to 18 July 2022.   Nariman Shirinli, an 11th grade student at the "Young Talents" lyceum under the Baku State University, won a silver medal, Mehsati Piriyeva, an 11th grade student at the physics-mathematics and informatics biased lyceum of Ganja under the Ministry of Education, Deniz Sattarli, a 10th grade student at Turkey Diyanet Foundation the Baku Turkish Lyceum, and Salman Huseynov, a student of school-lyceum No.2 named after Z.Ahmadzadeh in Pensar village of Astara district, won a bronze medal at the Olympiad.   We congratulate our students and wish them further success.

Azerbaijani students win 5 medals at the International Mathematical Olympiad

On July 6-16, the 63rd International Mathematical Olympiad was held in Oslo, the capital of Norway. Our students, having successfully participated at the Olympiad, won 1 silver, 4 bronze medals and one "Encouragement Prize".   Thus, an 11th grade students of the physics-mathematics and informatics biased lyceum under the Ministry of Education Togrul Abbasov won a silver medal, Amin Jafarzadeh - a bronze medal, a 10th grade students of the same lyceum Fidan Garayeva and Jalil Huseynov won a bronze medal, an 11th grade student of the Technical and Humanitarian Lyceum No. 2 of Baku Elchin Musazadeh won a bronze medal, an 11th grade student of a full secondary school No.72 of Baku Javad Ismailzadeh received an encouragement prize.   It should be noted that the Azerbaijani team ranked 34th at this prestigious Olympiad, in which 104 countries participated.   We congratulate our students and wish them further success.

The Minister of Education visited the Autism Center of "Birge va Saglam" (Together and Healthy) Public Union

On July 8, Minister of Education Emin Amrullayev visited the Autism Center operating under "Birge va Sağlam" (Together and Healthy) Public Union located in Nizami district of the capital.   Minister of Education Emin Amrullayev got acquainted with the conditions established in the Center.   The Director of the Center Aytan Eynalova brought to attention detailed information about the support programs provided to about 90 people with autism spectrum disorders at the Center. The minister observed visually the process of application of the programs during the training.   Later, getting acquainted with the workshop, Emin Amrullayev listened to the songs performed by the "Blue Hearts" choral group of autistic youth in "Kashalata cafe" operating inside the Center. Various plays were performed by the autistic youth of the cafe.   During the meeting, they discussed the opportunities for future cooperation between the Ministry and the Center.   Commemorative photos were taken at the end.

Minister of Education meets with the Hungarian Ambassador to the Republic of Azerbaijan

On the 6th of July, the Minister of Education Emin Amrullayev met with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Hungary to the Republic of Azerbaijan Viktor Szederkenyi, whose mission to Azerbaijan is coming to an end.   The Azerbaijani Minister of Education Emin Amrullayev thanked Ambassador Viktor Szederkenyi for his contribution to deepening educational ties between the two countries and establishing direct cooperation relations between Azerbaijani and Hungarian higher educational institutions during his work as Hungarian ambassador to the Republic of Azerbaijan.   Emin Amrullayev highly appreciated awarding of educational scholarships by the Hungarian state to 149 citizens of the Republic of Azerbaijan for the academic year 2022-2023.

UNICEF's Global Annual Results Report highlights achievements in our country in the field of education

UNICEF has published a Global Annual Results Report on innovations in the global education system in 2021. The Report highlights the achievements of our country in a number of areas in education.   Thus, the document emphasizes that the state-funded pre-school training program in Azerbaijan covers 90 percent of 5-years-old children. In addition, as a result of the expansion of a scope of the project aimed at the development of community based pre-school education implemented in remote districts of our country, the establishment of 850 community based pre-school education groups in 695 community centers in 55 cities and districts has been presented as an achievement of our country in education. Currently, 16041 children aged 3-4 years old are studying in these groups.   The Report also highly appreciates the implementation of a project on school psychological health and psychosocial support in 9 conflict-affected regions in the framework of cooperation between the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan and UNICEF. "Summer School in Political Science and Diplomacy" - July 11 - 16, Guba

"Bir Konullu" Students Cooperation Public Union and Baku Slavic University will jointly organize a Summer School Program in Political Science and Diplomacy in Guba region on July 11 - 16.  The purpose of the summer school is to create an effective platform for students to critically analyze and objectively assess the current political and economic situation in the modern world, accurately predict future processes, and participate in interactive discussions on various political issues.  Eligibility:  •    Final year undergraduate students studying in international relations, international studies, international law, political science and regional studies;  •    Recent graduates, master's degree students, and young professionals on above mentioned fields;  •    Young people with high motivation, initiative, strategic and systematic thinking skills, personal efficiency, ability to work in team and make right decisions; • Fluency in spoken and written English. (Knowing other languages are preferable)  During the summer school, lectures will be organized by highly qualified instructors and experts. Deputy Minister of Education meets with members of the International Association of the Eurasian Education Workers' Trade Unions

On 30 June, Deputy Minister of Education Firudin Gurbanov met with members of the International Association of the Eurasian Education Workers' Trade Unions, who were on a visit to our country. In his speech, the Deputy Minister of Education spoke about the work carried out for the development and strengthening of our country in the period of independence, the achievements in the building of national education, the development of certain fields of education, the measures taken in the implementation of the “State Strategy on Education Development in the Republic of Azerbaijan”, the challenges faced by the rapidly modernizing educational system, the reforms carried out in the education sector in our country and the successes achieved in this area. Firudin Gurbanov also stressed the role of educators in the liberation of our lands from occupation and highlighted Turkey's support for our country. The Deputy Minister of Education said that protection of the rights of educators and students in the education system is of great importance in Azerbaijan. Noting consistent steps have been taken towards improvement of educators' working conditions and stimulation of their work, Firudin Gurbanov underlined the importance of studying the international experience in this field. In his speech, the Deputy Minister of Education highly appreciated the holding of the XIV Forum of the International Association of the Eurasian Education Workers’ Trade Uions in Baku. At the end of the event, the Deputy Minister of Education answered questions from guests of the Forum.
