The exemplary lessons will be organized in accordance with the initiative associated with the target-oriented program entitled "From Science to Education" and put forward by Mikayil Jabbarov, Minister of Education, at the ceremony dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS). Lessons, which will be taught on scientific and popular topics by scientists of ANAS, serve the purposes of expanding relations between science and education, increasing schoolchildren's interest in science and bringing up followers of well-known scientists. On November 26, the Charity Fair was held in school-lyceum No. 62 in Baku. The fair was organized within the framework of the project of school communities established in 54 schools of the country on the initiative of the Ministry of Education. It is planned to send money, received from the fair held for charitable purposes, to orphanages. The school community, covering 3 grades of school at the initial stage, will be expanded in the future. The handicraft wares, produced by second, seventh and eighth grade students, were on sale at the fair. New Year toys, jewelry, natural potted flowers, artificial flowers, sweets, books, pictures and other handicrafts, submitted by schoolchildren, were met with a great interest of the participants. The Nizami District Executive Power, the district`s local autonomous bodies and private entities provided support to the initiative of the school community. It should be noted that the communities, organized under the motto "We study, rest and develop together", are parent-teacher-student associations established in order to make school life more interesting. The main objective of the school community project, implemented since September 2015, is to ensure the comprehensive formation of pupils and to provide support for children's creative ability, and for development of social skills that will be needed in their future lives.

Within the framework of the "Olympic Movement" project, Baku city championship for schoolchildren is held in athletics, cycling, badminton and basketball among 7th-11th grade students. The main objective of the competitions, jointly organized by the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the National Olympic Committee, is to promote the Olympic Movement among schoolchildren, to increase interest in the subject of physical education in secondary schools, to strengthen cooperation between physical education teachers and sporting schools, sports federations, to encourage parents in order to enable pupils to engage in sports activities, to promote the legacy of the Baku-2015 First European Games, to make effective use of Olympic Sports Complexes and sports facilities, and to increase the popularity of target sports. In accordance with the program of Baku city championship, pupils compete in school-based, district and final stages. The competitions have been attended by nearly sixty thousand schoolchildren. The winners of the second stage of the competitions in various kinds of sports activities will be awarded with diploma and a cup, as well as the teams, winning the first, second and third places in the final, and their coaches will be awarded the cash prize.

On November 25, Mikayil Jabbarov, Minister of Education, received Aurelia Bouchez, the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of France to Azerbaijan. Mikayil Jabbarov expressed his condolences to the ambassador in connection with the terrible terrorist attacks occurred in Paris on November 13. The ambassador said that she was impressed by support provided by the Azerbaijani side and its principled position based on tolerance. The Minister of Education noted that he met with his French counterpart and attended the opening of the Department of Literature and Culture named after Nizami Ganjavi at the University of Upper Alsace within the framework of his working visit to the Republic of France on November 2-4. Expressing his satisfaction with the activities of Baku French Lyceum and the continuation of the negotiations on the establishment of the Azerbaijani-French University, Mikayil Jabbarov emphasized the importance of further development of cooperation in the field of education.

On November 25, the media tour was organized in order to get better acquainted with the activities of school readiness groups at Baku city secondary school No. 5. During the media tour, media representatives were informed that school readiness groups were opened at 87 schools in the academic year 2014-2015 in accordance with the relevant order of the Minister of Education. Since the academic year 2015-2016, the network of schools, where these groups operate, has been expanded. Thus, school readiness groups are currently operating at 136 schools. School readiness groups that began operating on November 2 will continue to operate until May 31 next year. The main objective of the preparatory classes conducted 4 times a week is to prepare children for the teaching process, to get used to the learning process and to acquire relevant knowledge. Within these groups, children's mental, physical, social-emotional and linguistic abilities, as well as communicative, gaming and other skills are being developed. Children, who completed school readiness groups, are awarded certificates. Preference is given to experienced and qualified primary school teachers in school readiness groups, having a great importance in terms of the first step taken towards education.
