    Azərbaycan SSR Xalq Komissarları Sovetinin 28 aprel 1920-ci il tarixli qərarı ilə Xalq Maarifi Nazirliyinin adı dəyişdirilərək Xalq Maarifi Komissarlığı adı ilə yenidən təşkil edilib və ölkədəki bütün təhsil müəssisələri bu qurumun tabeliyinə verilib.

Figures for the calendar year 2021-short-term vocational trainings

From March to December 2021, 34 short-term vocational trainings were launched. 29 of these vocational trainings have been completed and 5 are currently ongoing.   A total of 800 people were involved in the vocational trainings.            More than 30 per cent of the unemployed graduates who completed the vocational training got a job after the training.

2021 calendar year in figures - resource kits for first graders

As part of a pilot project, 2,045 resource kits have been distributed to selected schools in 27 cities and districts since 2021. The total number of first graders who benefited from the project was approximately 45,000, representing 28% of all first graders.

Calendar year 2021 in figures - Equipping schools with computers

In 2021, a record number of computers were bought for educational institutions.  Their total number was 21,000 computers.   As a result of providing schools with new computers, the digital literacy and skills of more than 300,000 students will be improved. Approximately 400,000 students will be digitally assessed. Electronic journals and electronic diaries will be available for 365,000 students in Baku, Ganja, Mingechevir, Shirvan, Sumgayit cities.

2021 calendar year in figures - Employment of family members of martyrs, ghazis and veterans of the Patriotic War

In order to provide social protection and employment for members of the families of martyrs and ghazis, the Ministry of Education has taken steps to provide this category of persons with 69 vacancies in educational institutions since 28 January 2021. A total of 1,288 people were employed as part of these activities. Of these, 498 were members of the families of martyrs, 107 were members of military families, 265 were ghazis and 418 were veterans of the Patriotic War.

The Lotfi Zadeh International Olympiad has ended

On December 20-25, 2021, the Lotfi Zadeh International Olympiad in Mathematics and Computer Science was held in an online format.   158 students from 18 countries participated in the Olympiad. The participants won a total of 7 gold, 16 silver and 23 bronze medals in computer science and 5 gold, 12 silver and 17 bronze medals in mathematics.   Azerbaijani students won 3 gold, 2 silver and 1 bronze medal in mathematics and 4 bronze medals in computer science. 

2021 calendar year in figures-the international success of our students

In 2021, Azerbaijani students competed in 15 different international Olympiads and competitions.   Our students won a total of 55 medals, including 6 gold, 16 silver and 33 bronze medals.

An event on "Reimagining Youth Skills for the 21st Century” was held

On December 22, in conjunction with UNICEF's 75th anniversary, the Ministry of Education and the UNICEF Office in Azerbaijan hosted an event titled "Reimagining Youth Skills for the 21st Century."   The event was attended by Education Minister Emin Amrullayev, UNICEF Representative in Azerbaijan Alex Heikens, staff from the Ministry of Education, UNICEF, the Institute of Education, the State Agency for Vocational Education, students and others.   In his opening remarks at the event, Education Minister Emin Amrullayev emphasized the importance of the UNICEF organization's work in our country and the cooperation between the Ministry of Education and UNICEF. Emin Amrullayev also spoke about joint projects in the field of education during the pandemic between the Ministry of Education and UNICEF.   Speaking on "Reimagining Youth Skills for the 21st Century", the Minister of Education stated that long-term thinking, planning for new skills and competencies for the future is a very important issue and stressed the importance of taking labor market demands into account.   In his speech, UNICEF Representative in Azerbaijan Alex Heikens stated that the Ministry of Education has become UNICEF's most successful and important partner in our country over the past decades. When discussing climate change, migration, and other issues in a globalizing world, Alex Heikens stated that being prepared for such changes is the key to success.   Mr. Alex Heikens noted the impact of the pandemic on education in his speech, emphasizing the importance of knowledge and skills that meet the demands of the twenty-first century.   The event included a panel discussion on the impact of the pandemic on the field of education and ensuring the continuity of education, adaptability and skills required to face the challenges of the 21st century. The panel discussion was attended by students from schools, specialized classes, students from SABAH groups and members of the Union of Student Youth Organizations of Azerbaijan. The panel discussion focused on young people's skill levels, employment opportunities during and after the COVID-19 pandemic and the acquisition of skills to meet future labor market demands.

Figures for the calendar year 2021-Community-based pre-school education groups

In 55 districts and cities across the country, 850 community-based pre-school education groups have been formed. The groups included a total of 16041 children aged 3 to 4 years. In comparison to last year, this represents an increase of 5 districts, approximately 350 groups, and 6,835 children.

“The First LEGO League Azerbaijan” Engineering and Robotics Technologies Competition is being held

Today marks the end of “The First Lego League Azerbaijan (FLL) competition, which has been held since yesterday among schoolchildren in engineering and robotics, organized by the Ministry of Education and the “Edumedia” company at the ADA University (the Azerbaijan Diplomatic Academy).   FLL is a tournament that introduces students to the worlds of science, technology, physics, and mathematics. By participating in this tournament, students gain important skills such as critical thinking, problem solving in novel ways, and teamwork, all of which are necessary for future scientists and engineers.   The tournament's theme this year is "CITY SHAPER." The students, aged 10 to 16, who competed in the tournament in teams, conducted urban planning research using special "Lego Midstorms EV3" kits, assembled a robot to solve the declared missions, and demonstrated their creativity in programming it.   Today is the event's awards ceremony, and the winners will be awarded.   Please visit the website below for more information on the competition: http://www.fllazerbaijan.org/

The Azerbaijan State Pedagogical University celebrates its 100th anniversary

The 100th anniversary ceremony of the Azerbaijan State Pedagogical University (ASPU) was held on 17 December.   The anniversary ceremony was attended by Farah Aliyeva, Head of the Humanitarian Policy, Diaspora, Multiculturalism and Religious Affairs Department of the Presidential Administration, Deputy Prime Minister Ali Ahmedov, Education Minister Emin Amrullayev, Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov, members of the National Assembly, state and government officials, and representatives of the scientific community.   The National Anthem was played at the beginning of the event and participants observed a minute's silence in memory of martyrs.   In his opening speech, Jafar Jafarov, rector of the Azerbaijan State Pedagogical University, spoke about the work done at the institution of higher education in recent years, the reforms undertaken and the results achieved. The rector noted that the main objectives are to improve the quality of education by updating the content, ensuring maximum transparency in the learning and examination process, preparation of educational programs for a new generation, increasing the effectiveness of scientific research, expansion of international relations and improvement of infrastructure.   Speaking at the event, Education Minister Emin Amrullayev stressed that the university plays an important role in the country's education sector. The Minister spoke about the successes of the educational institution, as well as the importance of the successful ongoing dual degree program between the ASPU and George Washington University as part of the "State Program for Improving the International Competitiveness of the Higher Education System in the Republic of Azerbaijan for 2019-2023". He also noted the high level of student enrolment at the ASPU, as well as the high results achieved by university graduates in the examinations for recruitment as teachers.   Other guests who addressed the event then spoke about the role of the ASPU in education sector, congratulated the teaching staff and wished everyone success.   A film dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the ASPU was also screened at the anniversary ceremony.
