TV lessons are started
Starting from March 11, TV lessons titled "Lesson time" are launched on "Medeniyyet" channel. TV lessons will last 5 days a week from 10 to 16 o'clock. TV lessons will cover all classes and brief explanations and instructions on lesson topics will be provided. Short video lessons will be provided on disciplines such as “Azerbaijani language”, “Mathematics”, “Understanding the World”, “Fine arts”, “Foreign language” in primary school and “Azerbaijani language”, “Mathematics”, “Foreign language”, “History”, "Geography", "Chemistry", "Physics", "Biology" in V-XI classes. The Ministry of Education advises students to pay attention to the timetable and study the lesson during the "Lesson Time". Students unable to watch "Lesson Time" on TV can get this opportunity through the electronic resources of the Ministry of Education. Let’s state that it is also possible to use video.edu.az electronic portals enriched with e-textbooks and video lessons to learn lessons on holidays. There are 256 electronic resources, including 232 electronic textbooks, 22 teaching aids and 2 extracurricular reading materials in the portal of the Ministry of Education www.e-derslik.edu.az. Currently, the number of textbooks enriched with video, graphics, audio and other multimedia tools is 28. 1621 video lessons have been posted on video.edu.az portal of the Ministry of Education. The number of such classes on the electronic portal is increased every month. The portal includes 3D animated videos, Khan Academy classes and video lessons having an assessment system. Classes are prepared in accordance with the national curriculum with the participation of local and foreign teachers.

The Ministry of Education presents the "Virtual School" project
The "Virtual School" project will be launched by the Ministry of Education on April 2. The project aims to ensure interactivity of the television lessons broadcast by the Ministry of Education and to increase the opportunities for distance teaching in general. The "Virtual School" project is being implemented within the framework of cooperation between the Ministry of Education and “Microsoft” corporation. Each pupil, having registered on the "Virtual School" portal, will be assigned to a class corresponding to his or her age, where he or she will perform homework prepared by teachers in accordance with the topics which are taught on weekly TV lessons. New tasks on various topics and subjects will be added to the portal every week. At the same time, the portal will provide an opportunity for online lessons for teachers. The students will be able to use the "Chat" function to communicate with their peers through video and audio. It should be noted that there is also a mobile version for the "Virtual School" portal. To use it, students must download the “Microsoft Teams” application from the AppStore and Google Play markets and register on the portal with a username and personal password. The Ministry of Education invites all students and their parents to register on the virtual.edu.az online portal starting from April 2. Students and parents can read the instructions to register. It should be noted that the Ministry of Education has started broadcasting TV lessons for students of general education institutions on March 11 on the "Culture" and "ARB Gunesh" channels. The TV lessons cover all classes and most subjects and are provided under a pre-announced schedule for both the Azerbaijani and Russian sections. The TV lessons are also broadcast live once a week, which allows subject teachers to answer students' questions on this or that topic directly from the film studio and provide the necessary additional explanations. The main purpose of broadcasting TV lessons on television channels which are broadcasted throughout the country is to provide accessibility for each student during the break in education. In addition, students have the opportunity to watch TV lessons and additional video materials on each subject on the electronic portal of the Ministry of Education www.video.edu.az at any time convenient for them. Azerbaijan has become a member of “World Skills Asia” organization
Azerbaijan is elected as a member of “World Skills Asia” organization, known as the Olympiad of vocational education personnel. The organization envisages the regional cooperation via World Skills competition at the Asian continent, the organization of competitions, as well as the exchange of possible experience in the development of knowledge and skills. “The World Skills Asia” competition is also known as the Olympiad of vocational education personnel. The main task of the competition is the development of skills and professions in the field of technology, as well as services, which are important for the world economy, the promotion of knowledge and skills in this field among member countries. In the biennial competitions, our country is expected to participate in the World Skills Asia competition, which will be held in November this year in Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates.

Opportunity for the free use of “Microsoft Teams” platform
In order to organize distance education-teaching process, the Ministry of Education has created an opportunity for the free use of “Microsoft Teams” platform on higher and secondary education levels. Video-instructions for teachers and students on using the platform have been prepared and posted on the video lessons portal (video.edu.az). The platform will provide a wide range of opportunities to educational institutions. By using the platform the educational institutions will be able to provide distance teaching via video connection, to use interactive tools to organize teacher-student discussions, to transfer various lesson materials such as syllabus and lectures, as well as larger materials, to plan online lessons through calendar tool, to organize group works and use assessment tools.

The first lessons have been dedicated to Khojaly genocide
On February 26, the first lessons in educational institutions have been dedicated to Khojaly genocide. In accordance with “Plan of Actions” of the Ministry of Education on holding 28th anniversary of Khojaly Genocide, memory of the victims of Khojaly have been commemorated in lessons conducted, and the students have been provided with detailed information on Khojaly genocide. In accordance with the Action Plan, memorial nights, photo and drawing exhibitions devoted to the Khojaly genocide, meetings with witnesses have been organized, documentary and feature films devoted to the Khojaly genocide have been demonstrated in the educational institutions. It should be noted that teachers and students of the educational institutions also visit the monument "Mother’s Shout" in memory of the victims of Khojaly genocide.

3083 students have applied for transfer
Electronic document reception for transfer of students from higher education institutions within the country and abroad, or transfer from one specialty to another, as well as transfer of students of secondary specialized educational institutions located in our country and those studying in master level is completed. A total of 3083 applications have been registered during the electronic document reception carried out through transfer.edu.az portal from February 1 to February 7. The number of people applied for transfer from higher education institutions or for changing their specialties is 2668 persons, while the number of applicants for transfer from secondary specialized educational institutions is 415 persons. Students' applications are currently under consideration. The results are expected to be announced in March.

The Ministry of Education and “Elsevier” corporation of Netherlands signs Protocol of Intention
The Ministry of Education and “Elsevier” corporation of Netherlands, which is the world’s leading scientific-analytics company, signed Protocol of Intention on February 3. It was noted that the main purpose of signing the Protocol of Intention is to expand access of higher educational institutions in Azerbaijan to international scientific databases, increase the number of international scientific publications, to ensure that published scientific articles and journals are in complience with international requirements, consequently, to achieve promotion of local educational institutions in international ratings lists of authoritative organizations (“QS World University Rankings”, "The Financial Times", "Shanghai Ranking"and etc.). It should be noted that "Elsevier" corporation is a publishing and analytical company specializing in scientific, technical and medical content serving over 180 countries. With more than 16 million documents and 30,000 e-books in its archives, the company publishes more than 470,000 articles annually in more than 2,500 journals. The annual downloads for the company's products exceed 1 billion. In recent years, Azerbaijan has occupied the first place among the countries of the Southern Caucasus in terms of the total volume of scientific research works and the dynamics of growth in publishing activity. Within the framework of cooperation with “Elsevier” corporation, it is envisaged to strengthen our country's position in the scientific arena.

Minister of Education meets with delegation of Inha University of the South Korea
Minister of Education Jeyhun Bayramov met with the delegation headed by dean of Global Education Projects Group of Inha University of the Republic of South Korea Mr. Kiyon Chohun on January 31. During the meeting, the sides discussed the establishment of an international dual degree program in engineering specialty between the Baku Engineering University and the Inha University of the South Korea in the framework of the "State Program on Increasing the International Competitiveness of the Higher Education System in the Republic of Azerbaijan for 2019-2023". To this end, the Memorandum of Understanding signed between the two universities has been highly appreciated. The meeting was also attended by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of South Korea to Azerbaijan Kim Tong Op.

School children at the NBA Azerbaijan Junior League
The presentation of the NBA Azerbaijan Junior League for boys and girls aged 12-14 has been organized by the American National Basketball Association (NBA) and the Azerbaijan Basketball Federation (ABF). The event was attended by Minister of Youth and Sports Azad Rahimov, Deputy Minister of Education Firudin Gurbanov, Vice-President of the National Olympic Committee Chingiz Huseynzade, Vice-President of NBA for Europe, Africa and Middle East countries Jesus Paskaul, US Ambassador to Azerbaijan Lee Litzenberger, President of the Azerbaijan Basketball Association Nadir Nasibov. In his address Minister of Youth and Sports Azad Rahimov spoke about assistance and attention given by our state to sports. Azad Rahimov noted that sports in Azerbaijan is developing from day to day and current material-technical base of sports contributes to a progress of a basketball in our country. Azad Rahimov had also touched successes achieved by our sportsmen over last year. In his speech Deputy Minister of Education Firudin Gurbanov spoke about an importance of NBA Azerbaijan Junior League that would be held in our country. He noted that this project would play a positive in leading school children to healthy lifestyle and in detecting talented sportsmen. Firudin Gurbanov also noted that this step would contribute to a formation of basketball teams in each of schools in Azerbaijan in future. Noting that thanks to the creation of the Junior League, the popularity of this type of sport in the regions will increase over the next one year, Firudin Gurbanov thanked everyone who contributed to this work. In their speeches the guests at the event had expressed their thoughts about the project and wished successes to organizers of the event. At the end of the event, questions from the media have been answered and a memorable gift has been presented to the official guest at the event. It should be noted that the league matches will be held from March to May of the current year according to the rules established by the NBA system and structure. The project will identify 30 teams comprised of boys and girls across the country.
