"Sabah Lab" Incubation Center starts its activity
“Sabah Lab” Incubation Center has been opened at the Institute of Education with the support of the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan. The activities of the center will support startups aimed at creating and developing innovative companies in various sectors of the economy. The main purpose of the center is to create a sustainable ecosystem around young entrepreneurs in order to stimulate the development of companies that will meet the demand for services and products in local and foreign markets. The educational program will be implemented in close cooperation with higher education institutions, government agencies and various large and small companies in local and international markets. The center's unique and proven educational program is designed in collaboration with the IE Business School, Europe's number one school of innovation and entrepreneurship. The curriculum includes several professors and industry leaders from local and international universities (Stanford, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, UC Berkeley, IE Business School). At the new center, participants in the proposed program will be selected through an online application process, at the end of which 30-40 participants (10 teams) will be identified. The IE Business School will support the selection process. Participants can join the program even without generated startup ideas. The program is open to both individuals and formed startup teams. It should be noted that the presentation of the center in higher education institutions will begin in the coming days, and more information will be made available to the public.

Education Minister meets with UN Resident Coordinator in the Republic of Azerbaijan

Explosive ordnance and mines: Ministry of Education, European Union, ANAMA and UNICEF launches awareness program
On October 15, a joint Action Plan was signed between UNICEF, the Ministry of Education and the Azerbaijan National Agency for Mine Action (ANAMA) to expand the Partnership on Explosives Safety Awareness (PSTM) through 2022. The signing ceremony included a presentation of UNICEF's joint action plan to support children and families affected by the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict in the Karabakh region and surrounding areas, with financial support from the European Union, in partnership with ANAMA and the Ministry of Education. It has been reported that explosive remnants of war (ERW) and mines remain as one of the greatest dangers for families living in conflict-affected regions. The program is expected to reach about 100,000 people, including 20,000 children. Thanks to humanitarian financial aid provided by the European Union, this program will help to raise awareness of children and families on the risk of landmines and explosive remnants of war (ERW). The program provides for various education activities on the dangers of explosive ordnance, including needs assessment, preparation of informational materials such as posters, brochures, community and school based activities.

Turkish-Azerbaijani cooperation to host a workshop on “eTwinning Plus” project
A bilateral workshop between Azerbaijan and Turkey is planned for 11-13 October as part of the “eTwinning Plus” project. The aim of the workshop on "media literacy and misinformation" is to implement international joint educational projects in both countries as well as to demonstrate continued cooperation in the field of education in "eTwinning Europe". The workshop will include various trainings and discussions for 36 school teachers from Turkey, 36 local teachers on media literacy, prevention of misinformation, digital skills, project-based education and 21st century teacher skills development. The trainings will be conducted by local and Turkish experts. Representatives from the Turkish Ministry of National Education are also expected to participate in the event. It should be noted that our country has been participating in the “eTwinning Plus” project since 2013. The project is part of the “eTwinning” project of the European Union’s Lifelong Learning Program. The main objective of the project is to increase communication between educators from almost 40 European countries participating in the program, to create opportunities for cooperation and to create conditions for the implementation of various projects aimed at the development of joint education. Within the framework of the “eTwinning Plus” project, 3432 educational projects have been implemented with the participation of 3224 teachers from 927 schools in our country, many of them achieving high international standards and competing at the same level as European countries.

A meeting was held with students enrolled to "SABAH Magistracy" and dual degree programs
On October 4, a meeting was held with students enrolled to the “SABAH Master’s” program implemented by the Azerbaijan State Pedagogical University (ADPU) and the Institute of Education (ARTI) for Master's level of higher education and to the dual diploma program implemented between the ADPU and George Washington University of the USA for the 2021-2022 academic year. The meeting was attended by the Minister of Education Emin Amrullayev, the ADPU Rector Jafar Jafarov and other guests. In his opening speech at the event, Rector of the ADPU Jafar Jafarov gave the participants detailed information about the activities, innovations and programs of the institution he heads. Then the floor was given to the Minister of Education Emin Amrullayev. Welcoming the participants, Emin Amrullayev said that the purpose of the meeting was to exchange views on the expectations from the dual diploma program and the "SABAH Magistracy" program. Noting that the new academic year is different from previous academic years, the Minister of Education Emin Amrullayev stated that the dual diploma program with George Washington University and the “SABAH Master's” program, as well as the “SABAH Groups” project, have a special place in Azerbaijani education, and these programs are aimed at rapid staff training. The Minister of Education meets with the Olympic winners
On October 2, a meeting was held with the winners of the International Subject Olympiad for the 2020-2021 academic year with the participation of the Minister of Education Emin Amrullayev. The meeting was attended by 24 winners of international subject Olympiads and heads of Olympic preparation teams. The Second International Forum on "New Challenges in Education" has started.
The Second International Forum on New Challenges in Education took place on 1 October. In his opening speech at the forum, the Minister of Education Emin Amrullayev highly appreciated the importance of the forum, thanked the organizers and speakers and noted that the issues to be discussed at the forum would contribute greatly to Azerbaijani education. Conveying his congratulations to teachers on the occasion of the International Teachers' Day, the Education Minister stressed the importance of sharing different ideas. Noting that the education process in Azerbaijan is facing new realities, the Education Minister Emin Amrullayev said that new opportunities were created in the post-conflict period, and opportunities for providing the present generation with good education were expanded. The Minister also spoke about the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the education process. He considered the use of new technologies as a positive development. At the end of his speech, the Minister wished success to the forum. Then, Jafar Mansimi, coordinator of the T-Network educators' experience and communication platform informed about the goals and objectives of the international forum. The Ministry of Education and “QS Quacquarelli Symonds” rating agency have started mutual cooperation
An agreement on mutual cooperation was signed between the Ministry of Education and the international rating agency “QS Quacquarelli Symonds” on September 30. At the signing ceremony, Deputy Minister of Education Firudin Gurbanov said that this agreement is in accordance with the “State program on increasing the international competitiveness of the higher education system in the Republic of Azerbaijan for 2019-2023” approved by the relevant decree of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Mr. Ilham Aliyev. According to the Deputy Minister, the main purpose of the program, based on the advanced achievements of science and innovative educational technologies, is to ensure the training of a new generation of competitive professionals in higher education institutions of the country. Firudin Gurbanov noted that cooperation with the international rating agency “QS Quacquarelli Symonds” is an important step in addressing the task set by the President. Sergey Khristolubov, Regional Director for Eastern Europe and Central Asia of “QS Quacquarelli Symonds” rating agency, stressed that special attention is paid to increasing the sustainability of Azerbaijani higher education institutions in global competition. It should be noted that on the basis of the agreement, it was agreed to increase the sustainability of Azerbaijani universities in global competition, strengthen the international recognition of the country's educational programs and increase the prestige of national education in academic circles and among recruiters. According to the signed document, leading universities of Azerbaijan will gain access to the private data and analytical information of the international rating agency “QS Quacquarelli Symonds”, which will allow them to form a strategy for academic reputation, reputation among employers, publishing activity, internationalization and participation in the online environment.
