On April 14, the Memorandum of Understanding on mutual cooperation was signed between the Ministry of Education and State Agency on Public Services and Social Innovations under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan (ASAN) in the event of “Skills for future: Together for future” of project “Skills for future”.   According to Memorandum, both authorities agreed on the provision of the sustainability of innovation ecosystem in our country, joint organization of innovation in the universities, joint measures in the direction of organization of state services in “ASAN Service” centers and digitalizing of services provided by the Ministry of Education.   As well as, it is planned to effectively organize the activity of “Science Baku” center to be established in the framework of joint activity implemented between “Turkish Technology Team” Foundation (T3 Foundation) and State Agency, to promote the start-ups in the universities in the framework of “Skills for Future” project, to form incubation and acceleration activity, to carry out joint activities on holding seminars and trainings by ASAN Innovative Development Center.

On April 13, the Minister of Education Emin Amrullayev was in the Azerbaijan State University of Economics (UNEC).     Firstly, the Memorial Complex erected in the memory of martyrs was visited and laid down wreath in front of it and their memories was commemorated.     Then the Minister of Education Emin Amrullayev got acquainted with 7/24 library and Extern Center of UNEC. The Minister was detailed informed of reading hall, the Center. Emin Amrullayev reviewed hybrid auditoriums created in UNEC. The Minister was informed that 50 hybrid auditoriums were currently operating and 50 auditoriums would also be launched soon in the University.   The opening of museum newly created in UNEC was held in the framework of the visit. The Minister was informed of the establishment date of UNEC and got acquainted with the historical documents.   Emin Amrullayev participated in the opening of “Bloomberg” financial laboratory that began to act in UNEC for the first time in our country. It was stated that the laboratory consisting of 12 “Bloomberg” terminals will allow UNEC to have the same opportunities as the advanced universities of the world in this field and to create qualified research environment in the university. After getting acquainted with the conditions created in UNEC, the Minister of Education met with young teachers and students.   In the meeting with the students, rector Adalat Muradov emphasized that the role of master students would be further increased in the education institution in order to transform UNEC to the research university.   The Minister of Education Emin Amrullayev spoke about the works done in the direction of higher education development in the country, the future priorities, the state support for the students, the main points of “State Program for the Education of Youth at Prestigious Universities of Foreign Countries for 2022-2026”. Advising the students to improve their individual skills, to be more interested in the scientific researches, to be active in the innovative projects, the Minister stressed that all opportunities in this field were provided at UNEC. Then the questions interesting for students were answered.   In the meeting with the young teachers, rector Adalat Muradov stated that the 30 percent of teachers was currently consisting of young teachers in the university and this process would be proceeded.     Speaking about the necessity of involving young teachers to teaching, Emin Amrullayev said that the positive tendencies have recently emerged in this direction. Emin Amrullayev addressed the role of young teachers in increasing the quality of education, factors affecting the rating of universities, forming personnel potential. He gave information on the reforms and works conducted in this direction in the field of education.   At the end of the meeting, the Minister of Education listened to the proposals of young teachers and answered their questions.

The 11th European Girls’ Mathematical Olympiad (EGMO) was held in the city of Eger of Hungary.   Our country was represented by 4 schoolgirls in the Olympiad attended by 222 schoolgirls from 57 countries.   Our pupils successfully attended in the Olympiad and received 1 gold, 2 bronze medals and 1 “Honorable mention”. So, Fidan Garayeva, student of X grade of lyceum of physics, mathematics and computer science oriented, was awarded gold medal, Fidan Jafarli and Safura Ramizgizi, students of X grade of Turksih Diyanet Foundation Baku Turkish Lyceum, were awarded bronze medals, Sevinj Mahmudova, student of IX grade of the said lyceum was awarded “Honorable mention”.   We congratulate and wish success to our schoolchildren!

On April 05, the 8th meeting of subcommittee on employment and social issues, public health, training, education and youth, culture, information society and audiovisual policy, science and technological issues was held in the framework of the European Union – Azerbaijan Cooperation Committee.   On behalf of Azerbaijan, the delegation consisting of the representatives of the Ministries of Digital Development and Transportation, Labour and Social Protection of Population, Youth and Sport, Culture, Health participated at the meeting co-chaired by the Ministry of Education.   During the meeting, it was discussed the current position and future perspectives of the cooperation between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the European Union on the issues covered by the said subcommittee.

On April 05, the President of Azerbaijan Basketball Federation Emin Amrullayev met with the President of Georgian Basketball Federation Viktor Sanikidze who visits our country.   Visiting Alley of Honor before the meeting, the memory of National Leader Heydar Aliyev and prominent ophthalmologist scientist Zarifa khanum Aliyeva was respectfully commemorated, the wreath and flower bouquets were laid down in front of their graves. Then Alley of Martyrs was visited. The memory of martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the independence of Azerbaijan was respectfully commemorated, the flowers were arranged over their graves.   Then the thoughts on the development of basketball and possible cooperation perspectives were exchanged, the works to be done together in future were discussed at the meeting attended by the officials of the federations.

On April 2, the groundbreaking ceremony of Italy-Azerbaijan University was held in the campus of ADA University in Baku. The Minister of Education Emin Amrullayev, the Minister of Foreign Affairs Jeyhun Bayramov, the Minister of Energy Parviz Shahbazov and the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Republic of Italy Luigi Di Mario participated in the groundbreaking ceremony.    It was stated in the groundbreaking ceremony that the academic programs to be established in the said university will cover the strategic sectors of economy and train highly qualified specialists. The University will be the center of science and knowledge where practice, know-how, technology and innovations for agriculture and food security, engineering, electricity and electronics, transportation and infrastructure engineering, architecture, town-building and landscape architecture, design, interior design and other directions will be applied. It shall be noted that this university of which foundation was laid down was established by the initiative of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev. The agreement on the establishment of Italy-Azerbaijan University was reached in 2020 during the state visit of President Ilham Aliyev to the Republic of Italy. Italy-Azerbaijan University will operate on the basis of ADA University. Five leading higher education institution, including Luiss University, University of Bologna, Polytechnic University of Milan, Turin Polytechnic University and Sapienza University of Rome have been involved in the establishment of Italy-Azerbaijan University. In this regard, the Memorandum of Understanding on establishment of Italy-Azerbaijan University and academic cooperation in this direction was signed between ADA University and the above-mentioned universities of Italy last year.

On March 29, a handover ceremony was held to present tablets to schools as part of the grant project "Capacity Building of Teachers and Establishment of the Education Information System for the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan".   The ceremony was attended by Deputy Minister of Education Mukhtar Mammadov, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Korea to Azerbaijan Lee Eun Yong and Country Director of the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) Moon Jong Hyun.   Speaking at the event, Deputy Minister Mukhtar Mammadov emphasized the dynamic development of cooperation between Azerbaijan and Korea in the field of education, noting that Baku Engineering University and Korea's INHA University have implemented a dual degree program in engineering at the undergraduate level. The Deputy Minister highly appreciated the contribution of the Korean International Cooperation Agency to the development of cooperation between the two countries in the field of education.   Following that, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Lee Eun Yong stated that the Republic of Korea is interested in further expanding its educational cooperation with Azerbaijan.   A handover act for the presentation of 875 tablets to be distributed to general education institutions across the country as part of the grant project "Capacity Building of Teachers and Establishment of the Education Information System for the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan" was signed at the conclusion of the event.

The business trip of the delegation led by the Minister of Education Emin Amrullayev to the Republic of Turkey is continuing. On March 16, the Minister of Education Emin Amrullayev met with the Head of Higher Education Council of the Republic of Turkey Erol Ozvar in the framework of the meeting. During the meeting, the detailed discussion was conducted on the joint Azerbaijan-Turkey University which is planned to be established.
