The opening ceremony of the II International Conference on "Digital Economy: Current Challenges and Real Opportunities" kicks off
On April 28 the Second International Conference on "Digital Economy: current challenges and real opportunities" was kicked off. The conference is co-organized by the Ministries of Economy, Education, Digital Development and Transport, the Azerbaijan State Economic University (UNEC) and other leading institutions. At the opening of the conference, a video clip was shown about UNEC's inventions and patents based on innovative technologies in the digital economy. Rector of UNEC Adalat Muradov, who gave an opening speech at the event, stressing the relevance of the topic of the conference, noted that the conference was organized to discuss various aspects of digital transformation, which is the most serious tool to ensure sustainable, innovative and competitive economic development of the country, and to keep this issue on the agenda. Rector noted that the international conference accepted about 200 articles from 15 countries, including the United Kingdom, Portugal, Serbia, Israel, Lithuania, Turkey, Slovakia, Hungary, Colombia, Georgia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Belarus, Russia, and Uzbekistan. The Minister of Education Emin Amrullayev spoke about the main challenges that digitalization poses to the education system. The minister noted that most classical subjects in the modern education system have lost their relevance, and subjects requiring digital knowledge and skills have come to the fore, and said that the subject of computer science will be introduced in the admission exams. Noting the importance of measuring digital literacy and skills, the Minister stressed that Azerbaijan will join the ICILS evaluation project of the International Assessment Association in May 2023. Tahir Mirkishili, Chairman of the Milli Mejlis (National Assembly) Committee, spoke about the fundamental changes caused by digitalization in the economy. Noting that digitalization creates new tools in the economy, increases transparency and accelerates economic development, the chairman of the committee assessed the creation of business platforms as one of the main benefits of digitalization. Rovshan Rustamov, Deputy Minister of Digital Development and Transport, spoke about the role of digitalization in ensuring a sustainable economy. Noting that Azerbaijan will have a strong economy due to the opportunities created by digitalization, the deputy minister noted that it is such strong digital development that is more resilient to risks. Speaking at the conference, Tamerlan Taghiyev, Executive Director of the Center for Analysis and Coordination of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, revealed the areas important for the development of the digital economy. Tamerlan Taghiyev noted the importance of creating an appropriate infrastructure, ensuring a high-speed, sustainable Internet in the country, and developing digital knowledge and skills at all levels of education. After the speeches, the speakers of the conference were presented with posters. The international conference continued with plenary lectures. It should be noted that the conference discusses the main problems facing global economic growth, the production ecosystem, focused on high technology, the digital transformation of the economy, “green” economy and sustainable development, the economic challenges of the post-pandemic period, business transformation after the pandemic and a look at the past and future of the Azerbaijani economy, the possibilities and priorities of using digital technologies in the process of restoring and developing the economy of Karabakh.

Delegation of teachers and students from the Czech Republic visits Aghdam
A delegation of professors and students from the Czech University of Life Sciences Prague and Charles University in Prague, Czech Republic, is on a visit to our country. As part of the visit, the delegation visited Aghdam . The guests witnessed live the consequences of Armenian vandalism during the occupation. After receiving detailed information about the history of Aghdam city, the guests were introduced to the ongoing or planned work on the reconstruction of the city.

Museum of Public Education celebrates its 90th anniversary
An event dedicated to the 90th anniversary of the Museum of Public Education was held on April 27. Opening the event, Minister of Education Emin Amrullayev spoke about the important role of the museum in the history of education in Azerbaijan. Speaking about the activities implemented to preserve the museum to date, the Minister of Education said that the museum staff was engaged in a responsible and sacred work. Minister of Education Emin Amrullayev also noted that the museum consists not only of exhibits, but it also a cultural center, studying the history of our education. At the end of his speech, the Minister congratulated all staff of the museum and praised their activities. In her speech, Director of the Museum of Public Education Lala Bayramova spoke about the attention and care shown by the state to the improvement of the work of the museum in our country. Lala Bayramova noted that thousands of textbooks, manuals and other exhibits in the museum have been used in filming documentary films and conducting researches. Then Aliya Mustafayeva, an employee of the Exposition department of the museum, made a report on "History and activities of the Museum of Public Education". Other guests who were invited to the event also spoke about the history and importance of the museum. At the end of the event the employees of the Museum of Public Education were awarded.

The Minister of Education meets with the educational community of the five regions
During his visit to Shamkir district on April 21, Minister of Education Emin Amrullayev met with the heads of education departments, deputy directors, and school principals from Agstafa, Gadabey, Gazakh, Shamkir, and Tovuz districts, all of which are part of the Gazakh-Tovuz Regional Education Department. During the meeting, views were expressed on the existing problems in the field of education in these regions and their solutions , the steps taken to improve the quality of education and the work ahead were discussed. In particular, the meeting included an exchange of views on the results of the IX grade final exam by regions, the activities of school principals, the relationship between parents and school, and other issues. At the meeting, relevant instructions were given regarding the future activities of the local educational management structures, as well as suggestions were listened to and questions were answered.

Shamkir district commissiones STEAM Center
On April 21, the opening ceremony of the STEAM Center was held at the Lyceum with a chemistry and biology bias in the Shamkir district. The opening ceremony was attended by Minister of Education Emin Amrullayev, head of the Shamkir District Executive Power Rashad Tagiyev and other guests. The guests who attended the opening ceremony got acquainted with the conditions created for students at the Center. It was noted that the STEAM Center has areas for students to work in “Robotics”, “Art”, “Science”, CNC and 3D Printing, VR, Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (drone). The STEAM Center in Shamkir district is designed for use by all age groups and is fully equipped with the necessary innovative technology compatible with STEAM content. Along with the aforementioned school, students and teachers from other schools in the region will be able to take advantage of the opportunities created at the Center. It is expected that during the year about 2500-3000 schoolchildren and students will take part in trainings on various modules at the Center. It should be noted that in order to ensure accessibility of the STEAM project for all, as well as to implement extracurricular activities for students with special knowledge and skills in this area, to be better prepared for competitions, contests and Olympiads of the world level STEAM centers are created in different regions of the country.

Opening ceremony of secondary school No. 2 in Zayam-Chirdakhan village of Shamkir district takes place
On April 21, Minister of Education Emin Amrullayev visited Shamkir district. During the visit, the opening ceremony of the newly built secondary school No. 2 named after J. Abdiev in the village of Zayam-Chirdakhan, Shamkir district, was held. The opening ceremony was attended by Minister of Education Emin Amrullayev, head of the Shamkir District Executive Power Rashad Tagiyev, head of the Shamkir District Education Department Gudrat Aliyev and other guests. Before the ceremony, the monument to the great leader Heydar Aliyev was visited and flowers were laid in front of it. At the opening ceremony it was noted that the new school is designed for 432 students. The school has 17 classrooms, 3 laboratories, 2 technology and computer science rooms, pre-military service training room, a pre-school training room, an assembly hall for 216 students, a gym, a library and a canteen for 92 students. After the opening ceremony, the participants got acquainted with the conditions created at the school.

Minister of Education meets with the President of the University of Strasbourg
On April 20, Minister of Education Emin Amrullayev met with a delegation led by President of the University of Strasbourg Michel Deneke. The meeting was also attended by the Ambassador of the French Republic to Azerbaijan Zacharie Gross. At the meeting, the role of the Azerbaijani-French University (UFAZ) project in the development of educational relations between the two countries and its positive contribution to the development of these relations were emphasized. At the same time, issues related to the activities of UFAZ, the expansion of academic cooperation between the Azerbaijan State University of Oil and Industry and the University of Strasbourg, support for the development of research at UFAZ and the possibility of establishing a doctoral program were discussed.

Minister of Education presents diplomas to the Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU) students graduating from “Code Academy”
A ceremony of awarding diplomas to the students of the Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU), the first graduates of the Code Academy, was held on April 18. The ceremony was attended by Minister of Education Emin Amrullayev, Rector of AzTU Vilayat Valiyev, Rector of Baku State University (BSU) Elchin Babayev, students of AzTU graduated from the Code Academy, teachers of AzTU, as well as other guests. First, rector of AzTU Vilayat Valiyev informed about the project jointly developed by AzTU, the Ministry of Education and the Code Academy. Vilayat Valiyev said that the project was first implemented at AzTU. Later, other universities of the country joined the project. Under the project, the 3rd and 4th year students studying in the field of information technology and programming were trained in programming, system administration and network administration for 4 months in the auditoriums created at AzTU on the basis of the Code Academy program and equipped with modern computers. The rector noted that the conducting of training in accordance with the program of the Code Academy has had a positive impact on increasing students' IT skills. Already 80 students have successfully completed the program. 228 students from all faculties of AzTU are taking part in classes under the current program. The Minister of Education Emin Amrullayev, who attended the event, spoke about the need to establish cooperation with the Code Academy. The Minister said that this method of training is a new model for higher education institutions. This model takes into account all the nuances associated with the training of students and the expansion of employment opportunities in the future. Emin Amrullayev noted that universities should update their curricula every 2-3 years for the sake of further development of the country. The Minister of Education also added that by the end of this year more than 1,000 students would be graduated as a result of cooperation between partner universities and the Code Academy. And in the coming years, the goal is to graduate 5,000 students. Rector of BSU Elchin Babayev, in his turn, spoke about the cooperation of the university he heads with the Code Academy and the work done within the project. The director of the project Ulvi Aslanov made a broad presentation on the work done within the project implemented at AzTU. Then, the presentation of projects prepared by AzTU students who graduated from the Code Academy was held. At the end of the event, diplomas were presented to AzTU students graduated from the Code Academy.

The Ministry of Education and the Karabakh Revival Fund have signed a memorandum of understanding
A Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation was signed between the Ministry of Education and the Karabakh Revival Fund on April 18. The memorandum was signed by the Minister of Education Emin Amrullayev and Chairman of the Board of the Karabakh Revival Fund Rahman Hajiyev. The document is aimed to promote the process of transforming the liberated territories into a highly prosperous region through the implementation of joint projects and activities as part of cooperation. The Memorandum of Understanding covers various issues related to the work performed, for example, support for the development of education, including the study and application of foreign experience, personnel research, promotion of public-private partnerships in education, promotion of a culture of donation in the relevant institutions using the educational system, and so on. The agreement also provides for the dissemination of information among the participants of the education system and other interested persons and groups about the damage caused to the Karabakh region as a result of the occupation, as well as the implementation of joint activities related to the involvement of young people to participate in the ongoing projects. During the meeting, Education Minister Emin Amrullayev and the Chairman of the Board of the Karabakh Revival Fund had a broad exchange of views on issues related to the projects planned for implementation under bilateral cooperation. The parties noted that this cooperation would contribute to the creation of sustainable settlements and favorable living conditions in the liberated territories, as well as play an important role in the development of education there.

The presentation of book “World Class: How to build the 21st century school system” was held
On April 15, the presentation of book “World Class: How to build the 21st century school system” by Andreas Schleicher, Director on Education and skills of Organization of Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), as well as Head of PISA (Programme for International Student Assessment) was held. The book was published in Azerbaijani language by “T-Network” platform for experience and communication of educational staff by the support of the Ministry of Education. Making speech at the event, the Minister of Education Emin Amrullayev highly appreciated the translation of the book into Azerbaijan language. Stating the participation of Azerbaijan in the international assessment researches, the Minister said that the participation of our country in PISA is the achievement of our education. Currently, only Baku schools have been involved into the PISA assessment. It is planned the participation of all Azerbaijani schools in this research in future. The Minister of Education emphasized at the ending of the event that the book would be the valuable resource of Azerbaijan educational society. In his turn, Rector of Azerbaijan State Pedagogical University Jafar Jafarov mentioned that the book would be used as a textbook for students studying at the master level of ASPU. Jafar Mansimi, one of the initiators and coordinator of “T-Network” platform for experience and communication of educational staff, gave detailed information on the platform and talked about the developing process of the book. The author Andreas Schleicher held a masterclass on the theme of “World Class: How to build the 21st century school system” in the framework of presentation. Andreas Schleicher mentioned that PISA was not a competition, it was international research mirror. In this mirror the countries can see their educational systems. Andreas Schleicher stated that it was needed trying to turn the education into the scientific research field in future. Andreas Schleicher considered the developing path of world educational system and gave information on the works done in the direction of the development of education. At the end, the participants were presented the book.
