Azerbaijani students win success at the 57th International Mendeleev Chemistry Olympiad
The 57th International Mendeleev Chemistry Olympiad was organized in Astana city, Kazakhstan. The representatives from over 20 countries participated in the Olympiad, which consisted of theoretical and practical parts. Our national team successfully participated in the Knowledge Olympiad and won another medal for our country. Deniz Sattarli, a 11th grade student of the Baku Turkish Lyceum of Turkiye Diyanet Foundation, was awarded a bronze medal. In addition, the organizers of the Olympiad presented a special gift to Hamid Khalilov, a 11th grade student of the Ganja physics- mathematics and informatics biased lyceum. We congratulate our students and wish them success in their subsequent competitions!

President Ilham Aliyev viewed construction works in school being built in Fuzuli as gift on behalf of Uzbekistani people
President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva have examined the construction works in a 960-seat school being built in Fuzuli as a gift by President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev on behalf of the Uzbekistani people. The head of state and the First Lady were informed of the progress of construction works. The construction of the two-storey school, which occupies an area of three hectares, started last year, and will end this December. Cooperation between ADA University and George Washington University expands
At the meeting, ADA University Rector Hafiz Pashayev said that the initial collaboration with George Washington University on the dual degree program is expanding as a result of the successful implementation of the program and the support of partners. Announcing the enrollment of six different groups of students in the dual degree program, Mr. Hafiz Pashayev said, "It is encouraging that we are moving to a new 4+1 format of cooperation with George Washington University. This format will allow students to obtain a bachelor's degree from ADA University and a master's degree from George Washington University. In his speech, Minister of Science and Education Emin Amrullayev emphasized that the dual diploma program will be useful in training local personnel. The minister also added that in addition to training competitive young people, dual degree programs have also contributed to improving the professionalism of teachers, the implementation of joint research projects and the development of universities. Abzatdin Adamov, Dean of the Faculty of Information Technology and Engineering at ADA University, shared the results of the implementation of the dual degree program so far. Speaking of the importance of expanding global collaboration for George Washington University, Dean John Luck said ADA University has a special place in that collaboration. Representatives of George Washington University noted, in their turn, that dual degree programs strengthen university-industry partnerships and promote international exchange of experience. Technical Assistance for Teachers project is completed
A handover ceremony was held as part of grant project "Capacity Building of Teachers and Establishment of the Education Information System for the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan". The project was implemented with the financial support of the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA). The ceremony was attended by Deputy Minister of Science and Education Hasan Hasanli, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Korea to Azerbaijan Lee Eun Yong and other officials. Speaking at the event, Deputy Minister Hasan Hasanli, emphasized the dynamic development of cooperation between Azerbaijan and Korea in the field of education, noting the importance of the project in terms of sharing experience in this direction. Noting that the first National Electronic Content in the Azerbaijani language of teacher advanced training program on the Korean experience was prepared as part of a related project, the deputy minister noted the need for training educational resources. Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Lee Eun Yong, who spoke later, noted that the said technical assistance project reflects the successful cooperation between Korea and Azerbaijan in the field of education. Ambassador Lee Eun Yong stated that the Republic of Korea is interested in further expanding its educational cooperation with Azerbaijan. Meeting of specialists educated outside Azerbaijan was held
On May 2, a meeting of specialists educated outside Azerbaijan was held at the Heydar Aliyev Palace. The meeting was dedicated to the 100th anniversary of national leader Heydar Aliyev’s birth. The meeting attended by our compatriots who were educated abroad during the great leader's reign was also attended by state and government representatives. First, in the foyer of the palace, there was an introduction to the exhibition of photos that talk about the national leader Heydar Aliyev’s concern for the education of Azerbaijan in both periods of his rule. After the meeting was declared open, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ali Asadov, spoke. Recalling that in 1974 he entered the Moscow Plekhanov Institute of National Economy and graduated from it in 1978, Ali Asadov noted that in those years it was a great honor for young people to enter such prestigious universities. Years later, the nation leader Heydar Aliyev himself acknowledged that the goal of this far-sighted strategy was not only to train national personnel in many specialties, but also to broaden the horizons of Azerbaijani youth. The Prime Minister added that the participants of today's meeting are people who work in different spheres of socio-political life of Azerbaijan and contribute to the all-round development of our homeland. Ali Asadov noted that the education policy established and strengthened by the national leader Heydar Aliyev is developing today on a reliable basis. Thanks to great efforts of President Ilham Aliyev, a worthy continuer of Heydar Aliyev's political course, science and education have become one of the most important directions of Azerbaijan's sustainable development strategy. Ali Asadov said that within the "State Program on education of Azerbaijani youth abroad in the years 2007-2015" more than 3500 young people have received scholarships to study at over 350 prestigious universities of 32 countries and 200 million AZN has been spent on this. During the implementation of the "State program on education of young people in prestigious higher education institutions abroad for the years 2022-2026", approved by the relevant order of President Ilham Aliyev, every year will be provided training for 400 people in foreign countries at the level of bachelor and master. This will amount to up to 2,000 citizens in total. Then the film "Education is the Future of the Nation" was shown, telling of the nation leader Heydar Aliyev's attention and care for Azerbaijan's education. The meeting continued with other speeches and concluded with a concert program.

Minister of Science and Education makes official visit to Istanbul
A delegation from the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan met with Erol Ozvar, chairman of the Turkish Council of Higher Education, and Ismail Koyuncu, Rector of Istanbul Technical University, at Marmara University on 24 April as part of a visit to Istanbul. New areas of cooperation in the field of higher education between Azerbaijan and Turkey were discussed at the meeting, and an agreement was reached on joint projects and joint programs between the universities.

President and First Lady attended inauguration of newly-built school in Neftchala district
President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva have attended the opening of the 420-seat Banka settlement No. 2 secondary school built by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation in the Neftchala district. The head of state and the First Lady were informed of the conditions created in the school. The three-storey school consists of five buildings. The school has 18 classrooms, labs, a library, a canteen, an assembly hall and a gym. Landscaping work was carried out, green areas were laid out in the yard of the school. https://president.az

Standards and guidelines for quality assurance in higher education discussed
On April 17, with the organizational support of the Education Quality Assurance Agency (EQAA), Azerbaijan hosted a collegial consultation meeting entitled "Standards and Guidelines for Quality Assurance Agencies in the European Higher Education Area". The meeting, organized for the first time in the country's higher education system, was attended by Douglas Blackstock, President of the Association for Quality Assurance in the European Higher Education Area, and Colin Tück, Director of the European Quality Assurance Registry for Higher Education. In her opening speech, Ulkar Sattarova, Chairperson of the EQAA Board, briefed participants on the work done on external quality assurance, the results achieved and the plans for the future. In his speech, the Minister of Science and Education, Emin Amrullayev, emphasised the importance of studying international standards and practices to ensure external quality and brought to the attention of the event participants the results achieved towards the integration of the Azerbaijani educational space into the European Higher Education Area and forthcoming issues. On the first day of the event, speakers touched on quality assurance in higher education. They also touched on stakeholder involvement in this area, higher education in Azerbaijan, and other similar issues. It should be noted that the two-day event will continue tomorrow.
