Minister of Science and Education meets with Balázs Hanko, Minister of Culture and Innovation of Hungary

On 24 September,the Minister of Science and Education Emin Amrullayev met with Minister of Culture and Innovation of the Republic of Hungary Balázs Hankó, who is on a visit to the Republic of Azerbaijan.   During the meeting, the current state of cooperation and prospects for development in the fields of science and education between the two countries were discussed.

Agreements between Azerbaijan and Türkiye in the field of education have been signed in Garabakh

On 23 September, a delegation led by Yusuf Tekin, Minister of National Education of the Republic of Türkiye, paid an official visit to Garabakh University. During the visit, the minister familiarized himself with the educational process and modern infrastructure of the university.   During the visit, a bilateral meeting was held between Azerbaijan's Minister of Science and Education Emin Amrullayev and Türkiye's Minister of National Education Yusuf Tekin. During the meeting, two protocols were signed aimed at expanding cooperation between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Türkiye: ‘Additional Protocol to the Agreement on Cooperation in the Field of Education between the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Government of the Republic of Türkiye dated 31 October 2017’ and ‘Additional Protocol to the Protocol on Cooperation in the Field of Vocational Education between the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Government of the Republic of Türkiye dated 19 February 2021’.   The signing of these documents will create a solid foundation for the further development of joint projects in the field of education between the two brotherly countries.

The Minister of National Education of the Republic of Türkiye is visiting Garabakh

A delegation led by Yusuf Tekin, Minister of National Education of the Republic of Türkiye, visited the territories liberated from occupation during his visit to our country, together with Emin Amrullayev, Minister of Science and Education. During the visit, the delegation visited secondary schools No. 1 in Shusha city, No. 1 named after Mirza Ulugbey in Fizuli city, and No. 1 in Aghdam city, familiarizing themselves with the modern educational environment created in these educational institutions. Yusuf Tekin highly appreciated the rapid improvement of modern educational infrastructure as part of the rapid restoration and reconstruction process in Garabakh. He particularly emphasized that the modern conditions created for students in schools in Shusha, Fizuli and Agdam contribute to future generations of Azerbaijan acquiring high levels of knowledge and skills.  

ISESCO Director General visits secondary school No. 1 in Shusha and Garabagh University

Director General of the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO), Salim bin Mohammed Al-Malik visited educational institutions in Shusha and Khankendi during his visit to Azerbaijan.    The Director General, together with the Minister of Science and Education, Emin Amrullayev, first examined the modern learning facilities at Shusha City Secondary School No. 1 and met with students to discuss the educational environment.   Following this, he visited Garabagh University, where he toured the newly constructed university buildings, inspected classrooms and laboratories, and visited the student dormitories. During a meeting with students, discussions were held on the conditions ensuring effective educational activities, and memorable photos were taken. The university rector, Shahin Bayramov, provided the guest with information about the university’s activities.   As part of the visit, the ISESCO director-general and members of the delegation he led also familiarized themselves with the Garabagh University clinic. Clinic director and Dean of the Faculty of Medical Sciences and Health, Samir Babayev, provided detailed information on the clinic’s operations, the conditions created and future plans.

President attended inauguration of Garabagh University Clinic and Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences building

On September 14, the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, attended the inauguration of the new Clinic Building of Garabagh University and the academic building of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences in the city of Khankendi.   Minister of Science and Education Emin Amrullayev, Rector of Garabagh University Shahin Bayramov, and Head of the Garabagh University Clinic and Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, Samir Babayev, informed the head of state about the facilities.   Starting from the new academic year, the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences at Garabagh University will begin operations. The facility is equipped with modern infrastructure that meets modern standards. It includes 10 lecture rooms, 9 auditoriums, 3 laboratories, work and examination rooms, recreation areas, a library, and briefing halls. The faculty will also house microbiology and histology laboratories, a cell culture facility, and administrative offices. The faculty will offer a six-year medical program and a four-year nursing program, developed jointly by local and international experts in line with global best practices. The modern educational model to be implemented will enable students to combine theoretical knowledge with practical skills at the Garabagh University Clinic. Students will also have ample opportunities to conduct research and develop leadership qualities. A distinctive feature of the faculty is the inclusion of an arts program as an elective course, aimed at fostering students’ self-expression, teamwork, and communication skills.   The head of state also toured the Garabagh University Clinic, which was established under a decree signed by President Ilham Aliyev in February this year. The clinic building includes 23 medical consultation rooms, laboratories, an X-ray room, an emergency department, and MRI, CT, and angiography rooms. Within a short period, a modern infrastructure for medical education has been created at the university. The clinic will play a crucial role in training professional medical personnel, conducting scientific research, and protecting the health of the region’s population. It will also serve as a base for teaching, research, and medical services.   The establishment of the Garabagh University Clinic and the launch of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences represent significant steps toward training professional medical specialists in line with the demands of the new era. Furthermore, the scientific research carried out at the clinic will contribute to enhancing Garabagh University’s academic reputation and international ranking, as well as advancing medical science in Azerbaijan. These developments are also expected to boost the interest of foreign students in this educational institution.   https://president.az

The Deputy Minister meets with the Ambassador of the Republic of Lithuania to the Republic of Azerbaijan

Deputy Minister of Science and Education Hasan Hasanli met with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Lithuania to the Republic of Azerbaijan Kestutis Vaskelevicius on 12 September.   The prospects for cooperation and development in the fields of science and education with the Republic of Lithuania were discussed during the meeting.

The Minister of Science and Education took part in the inauguration of the football pitch built as part of the “FIFA Arena” project

The opening ceremony for the football pitch built at a secondary school No. 247 as part of the “FIFA Arena” project took place on 8 September.   The event was attended by AFFA President Rovshan Najaf, the Minister of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan Emin Amrullayev, President of the Ukrainian Association of Football Andriy Shevchenko, officials from AFFA, FIFA, and the Ministry of Science and Education, representatives of the football community, and schoolchildren.   The speeches emphasized the importance of such projects for the healthy development of schoolchildren, the promotion of sports culture, and the popularization of football. During the event, a video message from FIFA President Gianni Infantino about the successful implementation of the project was also shown.   It should be noted that, as part of the ‘FIFA Arena’ project, football pitches were built at two secondary schools in Baku city (Schools #138 and #247) at the initiative of the AFFA (Azerbaijan Football Federation Association). More than 6,000 students will directly benefit from this project.

On 4 September, the Minister of Science and Education Amrullayev met with Özyeğin University's rector, Barış Tan. During the meeting, they discussed the prospects for developing inter-university cooperation in the fields of science and higher education, including with Özyeğin University.

The Deputy Minister of Science and Education, Hasan Hasanli, meets with the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uganda

On August 28, Deputy Minister of Science and Education Hasan Hasanli met with a Ugandan delegation led by John Mulimba, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uganda.   The meeting covered the current state of cooperation and prospects for further development in the fields of science and education with Uganda.

The deputy minister meets with the Hungarian ambassador to the Republic of Azerbaijan

Deputy Minister of Science and Education Hasan Hasanli met with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Hungary to the Republic of Azerbaijan Tamas Torma on August 26. Within the framework of the meeting the current co-operation and prospects for further development of cooperation with Hungary were discussed.
