Admission to First Grade through the electronic system
Mikayil Jabbarov, Minister of Education, signed the Order "on implementation of admission of pupils to the first grade through the electronic system for the academic year 2016-2017". According to the order, it was decided to conduct the admission of pupils to the First Grade through the electronic system at general education schools of Baku, lyceums and gymnasiums directly subordinated to the Ministry of Education for the academic year 2016-2017 through the implementation of online registration of applications by Baku city Education Department.

The questions related to changes to student scholarships were answered
On February 15-19, 2016, the questions related to the duties arising from the Order No. 1516 of the President of Azerbaijan Republic dated November 10, 2015, on "Making amendments to the Order No. 3108 of the President of Azerbaijan Republic dated August 30, 2013, on "Increasing scholarships for doctoral candidates, students and pupils of higher, secondary specialized and initial vocational educational institutions"" were answered on the Facebook page of the Ministry by the Ministry of Education. During this time, nearly 300 questions, submitted to Facebook page of the Ministry of Education, were promptly answered through the comments, and the issues, that were interesting for students, relevant employees of higher education institutions and parents, were clarified. The Ministry of Education attaches great importance to the expansion of public awareness on changes to student scholarships and the more complete explanation of new opportunities created for learners.

The Conference on the project “Globallab”
The Conference was held at Baku European Lyceum for the project “Globallab”, realized by UNESCO. The Conference was attended by employees of the Ministry of Education, the Organization of “Microsoft Azerbaijan” and ITE Training Center, heads of educational institutions, teachers and pupils. At the Conference, the achievements and results, obtained in the first stage of the project, were discussed and participating schools received certificates in different categories. It should be noted that Baku European Lyceum is the educational institution that implements the relevant ideas as the model school of the project “Globallab” in Azerbaijan. The lyceum received this status as the winner of UNESCO's "Education for the Future Project" among representatives from 18 countries during the years 2012-2014 by the Institute for Information Technologies in Education. Since 2015, 10 schools in Baku have been working on the projects entitled "Protection of our planet's natural resources" and "Establishment of the bank of cultural and environmental traditions of countries in the world as the resource for protecting nature on our planet" developed by Baku European Lyceum. The projects, focused on the ideas of multiculturalism, serve the purpose of preserving ecological consciousness and traditions in pupils and developing skills in line with modern requirements.

The Conference on the theme "Adapting Azerbaijan National Qualifications to the requirements of the European Qualifications Framework"
On February 18, the Conference was held under the theme "Adapting "Azerbaijan National Qualifications Framework for Lifelong Learning" of Azerbaijan Republic to the requirements of European Higher Education Area and "European Qualifications Framework for Lifelong Learning"" within the framework of the twinning project entitled "Support to the Ministry of Education for further adherence of the higher education system to the European Higher Education Area" implemented by the Ministry of Education. The event was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Economy, the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection, the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the State Students Admission Commission (SSAC), employees of the representative office of the European Union in Azerbaijan, higher and primary vocational-professional education institutions, and experts of the Twinning project, the European Training Foundation, the World Bank. The main objective of the Conference is to discuss issues related to the content, objectives and tasks of "Azerbaijan National Qualifications Framework for Lifelong Learning", as well as the measures to be implemented at state and institutional levels for the execution of this document. Natig Ibrahimov, Deputy Head of the Department of Science, Higher and Specialized Secondary Education of the Ministry of Education, delivered a speech at the Conference and provided detailed information on the preparation of "Azerbaijan National Qualifications Framework for Lifelong Learning", its legal basis, basic principles, structure and the measures to be taken for its implementation. It was noted that in accordance with the document entitled "European Qualifications Framework for Lifelong Learning" proposed by the European Union, a Working Group for the Preparation of "National Qualifications Framework for Lifelong Learning" was established according to the order of the Minister of Education in 2010. The specialists of the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Economy, the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection, the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the State Students Admission Commission (SSAC), and the representatives of higher education institutions were included in the Working Group. Taking into account that this document is important for the development of the educational system and the labor market in our country, the preparation of the National Qualifications Framework was reflected in the "National Strategy for the Development of Education in the Republic of Azerbaijan", approved by the Order of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan. Then, the speakers noted that the preparation of this document would enable our country to adapt to European standards in terms of determining educational programs for all educational stages and levels and identifying learners` knowledge, skills and competencies. This, in turn, will contribute to the mobility of students and the recognition of educational documents abroad. The National Qualifications Framework was submitted to the Cabinet of Ministers for approval.

A joint event at boarding school
The event entitled "Healthy Youth, Healthy Future" was held at Integration trained boarding school No.11 of the Ministry of Education. The event, organized jointly by 42nd Police Station of Sabunchu District Police Office, was dedicated to the struggle against drug abuse, early marriage and bad habits. The event was attended by employees of Sabunchu District Executive Power, Sabunchu District Police Office, the representative office of Bilgah settlement, as well as teaching staff of the school and pupils. Gulnara Abdullayeva, Director of Integration trained boarding school No.11, opened the event with welcome speech and underlined the urgency of the topic. Boarding school teachers - Azer Abdurahmanzade, Aygun Mammadova noted that conversations and discussions were often held around the relevant topic among pupils of senior classes. The police officers, who attended the event, said that our country's policy in this direction had a positive impact on the formation of youth. Eleventh grade students of the school - Mirzabala Aliyev, Huseynali Imanzade and Lala Habibova delivered a speech on the topic, and expressed their views and opinions. At the end of the event, it was decided that pupils of senior classes should write an essay on the topic under discussion.

The solo art exhibition entitled "Towards my dreams through the colors"
Medina Huseynzade `s solo art exhibition entitled “Towards my dreams through the colors" was held. She is an 11-year-old member of “Rəsm” Circle of Child-Youth Creative Center of Nizami district of the Ministry of Education. The exhibition, organized at "Absheron" Art Gallery, was attended by employees of the Ministry of Education, the leadership of the Center and members of the Circle. 50 paintings consisting of landscape paintings, compositions made in national and modern style, decorative compositions were demonstrated at the exhibition. The works of art were prepared in painting and graphics. The guests, spoked at the event, highly appreciated the artworks made by young artist and wished her success in her future activities. It was noted that the exhibitions, opened for the demonstration of the works of the Circle members, were crucial in revealing children's abilities. Young artist was presented with a Certificate of Merit and a gift on behalf of the Center. In the artistic part of the event, the Circle members of the Center demonstrated exemplary performances. Medina Huseynzade, who is a member of the Circle since 2010, participated in several local and international art competitions, and achieved great success. About 40 paintings were shown in Medina Huseynzade `s solo exhibition during "April 23" International Children's Festival, held in Bodrum, Turkey, in 2015. An 11-year-old schoolgirl was engaged in the Rhythmic Gymnastics Circle of Child-Youth Creative Center. It should be noted that Child-Youth Creative Center of Nizami district of the Ministry of Education has been operating since 1974. The Center creates favorable conditions to organize children`s, adolescents` and young people's leisure time efficiently and usefully as extracurricular educational institution. 28 Circles are currently operating in Child-Youth Creative Center. 1800 children, adolescents and young people were involved in these circles.

The winners were awarded
The ceremony of awarding the winners of the Republican art contest on the theme "Let`s unite for peace" dedicated to UNESCO's 70th anniversary and International Day of Peace - September 21 was held. The event, held at Fine Art Gallery of the Republican Methodology Center for Aesthetic Education, was attended by the employees of the Ministry of Education and the representatives of Baku city Education Department, boarding schools and creativity centers. The contest was jointly organized by the Ministry of Education and UNESCO Center on Human Rights and Problems of Peace of the Academy of Public Administration under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan. The purpose of the contest is to draw children and young people`s attention to September 21 - International Day of Peace, celebrated annually by United Nations and UNESCO, to instill the importance of peace culture, mutual understanding among nations, friendly international relations, to raise their artistic and aesthetic levels, to identify children with special talents and to support the development of their abilities. The contest was held in three age groups, among 6-9, 10-14 and 15-18-year-old children and young people, and 9 winning works were selected in each age group. The contest, held in 2 stages (Regional (city) and Republican stages), was attended by pupils of general educational institutions and boarding schools, and Circle members of extracurricular educational institutions. 27 out of 674 paintings, submitted to the Republican stage of the contest, were chosen as the contest winners by the jury. 91 authors were awarded a special Honors Certificate. The winners were awarded diplomas and valuable prizes. The catalogue of photos of the best works, selected in the competition, will be prepared.

Teachers were awarded
The ceremony of awarding the teachers, who have successfully completed training courses organized for physical education teachers of general education schools, was held at secondary school no. 6 in Baku within the framework of the project "TOPs program - improvement of learners` physical health, psychological stability and learning achievements". The main objective of the project, implemented in partnership with the Ministry of Education, the "British Council" and the “Bakcell” company, is to provide physical education and elementary school teachers of general education schools with modern educational technology according to the subjects taught by them. The event was attended by Firudin Gurbanov, Deputy Minister of Education, NGO representatives and teachers of general educational institutions. Veli Musayev, Project Manager of “Sport for development” Public Union, which is the main executive operator of TOPs program, delivered a presentation, and spoke about the projects implemented in the academic year 2015-2016. Speaking at the event, Firudin Gurbanov, Deputy Minister of Education, noted that the improvement of pupils` physical health, psychological stability and learning achievements through physical education and sport was one of the priorities for modern education and in this regard, a series of projects were carried out in recent years. After the speeches, Narmina Agayeva, Director of School No. 220, Mirfaig Mirheydarli, Director of School No. 138, and Alla Vazirova, Director of School No. 269, were awarded Honorary Diplomas for their productive activities in the implementation of the project in the academic year 2014-2015. 170 physical education teachers working in 33 schools in Baku and Sumgait were awarded the Certificate due to the successful completion of the training course organized on the basis of TOPs program. As well as, Honorary Diplomas were presented to employees of "Sport for Development" Public Union and "Tahsil" TV, who have contributed to the successful implementation and promotion of the project. It should be noted that this project covers 33 schools, boarding schools and lyceums in Baku and Sumgait since the academic year 2015-2016. In the training courses, organized within the framework of the project, more than 200 physical education and elementary school teachers acquired new knowledge and skills in teaching Physical Education. As a result of the use of modern education technology in the school subject of physical education, more than 35 000 pupils benefit from more effective and interesting physical education classes, as well as extracurricular activities.

Selection round for pupils who would prepare for the International Olympiads was held
New pupils were elected to the Centers, intended for preparation for International Olympiads and established under the Physics, mathematics and information science lyceum, as well as the chemistry and biology oriented lyceum, in order to ensure a more successful performance of Azerbaijani schoolchildren at International subject Olympiads. According to the results of subject competitions held in all cities and regions of the country from October 2015 until January of this year, 70-120 pupils were invited to Baku to participate in this selection process on relevant subjects. 60 percent of the pupils, participating in the selection process, came from regions. In general, during the selection round, about 400 seventh and eighth grade students demonstrated their knowledge and skills in mathematics, physics, chemistry and biology. 15-20 pupils, selected for each subject, will be involved in lessons, designed to prepare pupils for Olympiads, on the basis of a special program. It should be noted that the relevant selection round is held by the Ministry of Education for the second time. The pupils, selected in the academic year 2014-2015, continue their preparations at the Centers for more than a year.

The second stage of the competition has ended
On February 16, the second stage of the competition entitled "The use of the digital laboratory equipment "LabDisk" for natural sciences in the teaching process" was completed. The main objective of the competition held for the first time is to expand the use of the new, digital laboratory equipment and the innovative technologies of the twenty-first century in the process of organizing lessons in natural sciences (chemistry, biology and physics). 86 projects were received for the competition, jointly organized by the Ministry of Education and "Edumedia" LLC, in the categories of "The best teacher's work" and "The best instructor`s work". According to the results of the evaluation, 21 nominees were selected and admitted to the next stage. In the next stage, the projects will be presented in front of the jury and will be evaluated. The winners of the competition will be presented with "iPad air", "Globimate" tablet, "Samsung Galaxy Tab-3” and other special prizes.
