On March 6, Architecture faculty building of Azerbaijan Architecture and Construction University was opened after a major repair

The opening ceremony was attended by Mikayil Jabbarov, Minister of Education, teaching staffand students of the university, NGO executives, education experts. After the red ribbon symbolizing the opening ceremony, the guests got acquainted with the reconstruction works. It was noted that, the major repair of the building built in 30s of last century started in August on 2014. The reconstruction works implemented by the Ministry of Education was conducted in accordance with the rules required for establishment of modern infrastructure. The new building with the total area of 4 thousand square meters involves 20 lecture-halls, computer room, library, electronic reading room, conference room. The guests viewing the building were presented the new electronic library. The ceremony participants got an information about conditions created for pedagogical staff and students. They viewed the lecture-halls and faculty rooms and reviewed the visual aids of the "Rare Books Fund". Then, there was held a meeting with the academic council in assembly hall of the new building. Gulchohre Mammadova, head of Azerbaijan Architecture and Construction University greeted the ceremony participants and highlighted that improvement of the infrastructure, modernization of material-technical basis of the education institutions will significantly impact the quality of the training and learning. Mikayil Jabbarov, Minister of Education making speech in the event spoke about the state care to the education development in our country. The Minister noted the expansion of the efforts toward reestablishment of the educational institutions and improvement of their material-technical base in accordance with the “National Education Development Strategy of Azerbaijan Republic” and highlighted that the conditions established for learners contribute to meeting the requirement of our country to the modern personnel and preparation of the high-level specialists. The Minister noted that during construction of the new buildings for the education institutions or major repair of the existing buildings, establishment of the infrastructure allowing application of the modern information and communication technologies in those institutions is a priority target.

On March 9, were held opening ceremonies of secondary schools built by the Ministry of Education in Hil and Badirgala villages of Guba.

The opening ceremonies of the new schools were attended by Mikayil Jabbarov, Minister of Education, Shair Alkhasov, head of Gusar District Executive Power, representatives of education community and local residents. At first, Mikayil Jabbarov, Minister of Education put flowers at the monument of Heydar Aliyev in central square of Gusar and expressed his respect and reverence to spirit of national leader. The, the opening ceremony of the Gusar district, Hil village secondary school was held. The red ribbon symbolizing the official opening of the school was cut and the guest got acquainted with the educational institution. The new 180-seat Hil village secondary school involves 11 classrooms, 2 laboratories, 2 labor training rooms, youth military training room, computer room, staff room, infirmary, cafeteria, library, assembly hall and sports hall. The school building also equipped with video surveillance, fire alarm system, internet and phone lines, boiling-house. In the assembly hall of the school was held a meeting with teachers, parents and village residents. Mikayil Jabbarov, Minister of Education congratulating the pedagogical staff and local resident  on occasion of construction of the new school gave information to the meeting participants about education reforms taken in our country. The Minister noted that, within the last 11 years, in Azerbaijan were build and repaired around 3000 secondary schools. And this reflects the special care of our President to the education. In his speech, Shair Alkhasov, head of Gusar District Executive Power highlighted the significant impact of construction of new schools to improvement of education quality. Shair Alkhasov noted that the efforts in this area are appreciated by local residents. Speaking after school teachers declared that the newly built secondary school is a great gift for village community and expressed gratitude to the government for it. The next opening ceremony was held in new building of Gusar region, Badirgala village secondary school. After the red ribbon symbolizing the official opening was cut, the guest got acquainted with the school building.  They was informed that, the previous one-storey school building built in 1947 was exploited for a long time and became unusable. Last year, the Ministry of education started construction of the new school building in place of old school and the construction works was completed on schedule. The ceremony participants got acquainted with the conditions established for pupils, viewed classrooms, sports hall, laboratory. The new school involves 11 classrooms, 1 general laboratory, computer room, staff room, technical room, cafeteria, assembly hall and sports hall. The school building equipped with video surveillance, fire alarm system, internet and phone lines, boiling-house. Then, in the assembly hall of the school was held a meeting with teachers, parents and village residents. Mikayil Jabbarov, Minister of Education congratulated village residence feeling twofold joy in this festive period. The teaching staff of the school and village residents noted that the construction of the new school building was a significant historical event for village community and appreciated the attention of our government to the education.    

On March 10 was held an opening ceremony of the Baku city championship of the pupils on mini football organized by the Ministry of Education together with Association of Football Federations of Azerbaijan

The event was attended by Firudin Gurbanov, Deputy Education Minister, Elkhan Mammadov, senior secretary of AFFA, representatives of sports community and secondary school executives. The ceremony started with the national anthem of Azerbaijan Republic.  Firudin Gurbanov, Deputy Education Minister making speech in the ceremony noted that goal in the organization of championship is to fulfill the obligations derived from “State Program on development of football for 2005-2015 years in the Azerbaijan Republic”, promote the first European Games to be held in Baku, increase sport mastery of the pupils and involve the juniors in the strong life style. Firudin Gurbanov gave information about the measures taken by the Ministry of Education in the field of sports and noted that the ministry organizes regular competitions, tournaments and championships among students and pupils of secondary schools, vocational education and higher education institutions.  Now, the education system involves 2 specialized children and youth football school and football section in 60 children and youth sports school. In those schools, more than 11 thousands teenagers and youth engaged in football and about 400 trainers work.  The deputy minister emphasized the important efforts taken towards establishment of new sport arenas. At the same time, it's planned to increase the proficiency level of the trainers of the children and youth football schools and the football sections operating in sports schools and to organize C category coaching courses on the basis of the "Veten" Specialized Children and Youth Sports Schools of the Olympic Reserve together with AFFA in order to promote the development of the reserve players.     Mahabbat Valiyeva, the deputy head of the Baku City Education Department noted that such competitions generally increase the interest of students to the education. Sports competitions also promote more efficient leisure time of the pupils.     After the official opening ceremony, the games of 2nd phase of the Baku city championship of the pupils on mini football started. The contests will be organized on subgroups in this phase.  Winners of subgroups will compete in the last phase. Note that, the first phase of the championship was held in sports hall of 15 schools located in Baku. In this stage, 3660 boys, who study VIII grade of 35 secondary schools located in the capital joined the championship. The championship will last till April 6. The winner teams of the competition, who will take first, second and third places, will be awarded with diplomas, cubes and other valuable gifts.

On March 10, Mikayil Jabbarov, Minister of Education received citizens living in Masally, Lankaran, Astara, Lerik, Yardimli and Jalilabad regions in Heydar Aliyev Center of Masally

In the reception held in accordance with the March, 2015 year schedule of reception of citizens by heads of central executive bodies in cities and regions, the citizens mostly appealed on recruitment of teachers or change of the workplace from one region to another, restoration to the work, recognition of the education documents, transfer of the students of higher and vocational education institutions from one educational institution to another, fee for tuition and other issues. In the reception were heard appeals of 50 citizens and the majority of the issues were solved. There was given instructions to the relevant authorities of the ministry on a number of applications. Appeals of some citizens, which are not within the competence of Ministry of Education and are of personal character, were registered and taken into custody in order to be delivered to the relevant bodies.

National Environment Center of the Ministry of Education held the working seminar on "Ecological education and training of the pupils in the modern world"

The event was attended by working staff of the ecological education and practice centers, tourism and ethnography centers operating in Baku, principals of the extracurricular educational institutions, methodologists and study group executives. The goal in holding the seminar is to discuss prospects of the extracurricular educational institutions in the field of the environmental education and training of the pupils, work experience of the NGOs, their participation in public awareness events in this field. At the event was also announced application of the new training methods in the study group's sessions by the staff of the ecological education and practice centers and efforts of the methodologists and study groups executives in the field of organization of the mass environmental actions, excursions and ecotours. Participants highlighted improvement of the study of the environmental knowledge in accordance with the modern standards, environmental protection and development of the environmental knowledge and skills for regular use of natural resources.  Implementation of the tasks arising from the “National Education Development Strategy of Azerbaijan Republic” in environmental education field, use of the international experience in the field of the environmental education and training also became subject of debate.   Vasif Mammadov, deputy director of the department of organization of the extracurricular activity made a speech, expressed his ideas on development prospects of the environmental education and noted the importance of application of the modern training methods and techniques. Also, Vasif Mammadov gave information about new development concept of the environmental awareness and practice centers to be prepared together with “GIZ” international organization. Then, Lala Dadashova, deputy head of the National Ecological Education and Practice Center (NEEPC) made presentation of the efforts of this field. Firuza Sultanzade, head of NEEPC gave detailed information about work experience of “Ecosphere” organization in the field of the ecological education and training, nearly 60 ecological project implemented in cooperation with the international organizations. She proposed to reconstruct activities of the ecological education and training centers in Azerbaijan in accordance with the modern standards taking advantages of the positive experience of the leading countries of Europe in this field. The seminar was continued with debates.

The national phase of the competition for selection of the candidates for Azerbaijan national team, which will participate in 47th International Chemistry Olympiad, ended

This phase was attended by totally 215 pupils from X and XI grades. According to the results of the competition, 13 pupils from Baku, Ganja, Sumgayit, Shirvan, Gazakh, Masally and Balakan were selected as candidates. Since April, the candidates will be provided with the training sessions for the international Olympiad by the professors of Moscow State University named after M.V.Lomonosov and professionals of Baku branch of this institution. The pupils’ theoretical and practical knowledge will also be improved.   International Chemistry Olympiad has been held by participation of 5 countries for the first time in 1968 in the Czechoslovakia (present Czech Republic).  Last- 46th Olympiad was organized by 300 pupils from 75 countries in 2013 in the Hanoy, Vietnam.  Azerbaijan pupils have been taking part in this Olympiad since 2002 and they generally achieved 24 medals including 5 gold, 5 silver, 14 bronze till today. Note that, 47th International Chemistry Olympiad will be held in Baku on July 20-29, 2015. Up to 80 countries will take part in the Olympiad envisaged to be held by Organizational Committee of International Chemistry Olympiad in Azerbaijan. By purpose to organize 47th International Chemistry Olympiad at higher level, relevant order has been signed by The Ministry of Education. Organizational Committee has been established by chairmanship of professor Nargiz Pashayeva, rector of Baku branch of Moscow State University (MSU) named after M. V. Lomonosov.  At the same time, rules on selection of the candidates to national team to be participated in the 47th International Chemistry Olympiad, have been approved.    For detailed information about 47th International Chemistry Olympiad see the official web site of the Olympiad (http://icho2015.msu.az/).

On March 12, the Lyceum named after Academician Zarifa Aliyeva organized the debate lessons on different subjects in order to strengthen reading skills of the pupils

Before the debate lessons, the guests saw the exhibition organized in the foyer of the educational institution and watched the scenes prepared on the basis of the literary works read by the pupils. Also, lyceum students took an active part in competition for "I am the best reader" and "Young writers" nominations. According to the results of the competition, Nijat Ismayilov, student of 10a1 took the first place in “I am the best reader” nomination and Orkhan Ahmedov, student of 10a1 and Ayshen Aliyeva, student of 9r1 took first places in “Young writers” nomination. Also, lyceum students succeed to continue "I do not just read, but I draw to reading" project. Thus, the students go to the children homes and try to increase the interest of the pupils to reading and expand the readership of the pupils. Note that, in accordance with the decree of Mikayil Jabbarov, the Minister of Education on "Measures on improvement of reading skills and development of reading culture", the series of events prepared on the topic of "the role of the reading in personality education, human perfection, shaping outlook" in the lyceum continue.

On March 12, "ASAN school" section of the "ASAN service center" operating in Barda was launched

In the opening ceremony attended by the President of Azerbaijan Republic Ilham Aliyev, the country leader was informed about “ASAN school” project implemented by the Ministry of Education. “ASAN school” established as a part of the “ASAN service center” will organize admission of the first grader to the secondary schools of Barda and will eliminate the loss of time, increase transparency. The parents applying to the "ASAN school" section review the secondary schools of Barda region on interactive board and learn the situation for admission to the first grade in the selected school. Check-up of the school training level and psychological situation of the children is also conducted at “ASAN school”. After the child pass the commission, notification about admission to the school will be presented to both parent and local education department. Other service within the framework of the “ASAN school” is to conduct electronic certificate about workplace to those who works in pedagogical or technical fields of secondary schools. Currently, this service covers about 225 thousands employees working in public and private secondary schools. Each employee is able to get the electronic certificate about workplace without visiting the education institution where he works by applying to the “ASAN service centers” or registering in “E-Government” portal and send this certificate to the required authority via email. The next service to be conducted within “ASAN school” project is to provide electronic certificate for the pupils about educational institution they go to. This service covering more than 1,325 thousands pupils studying at the public and private secondary schools and their parents enables the parents to get the electronic certificate about the school, grade, education language and foreign language of their children without visiting the education institution by applying to the “ASAN service centers” or registering in “E-Government” portal and send this certificate to the required authority via email. “ASAN staff” carrier center established in the center provides special opportunities for the graduates of "ASAN school" volunteer program. On March 13, the boarding school for children with disabilities no. 5 under the Ministry of Education presented animated films "Fitna", "King and servant" and "Humay's dream"

These films prepared within "Film without barriers" project by Baku City Cinematography Service Department as well as Blind Persons Association with the support of the Ministry of Education and Baku City Executive Power was provided with tiflo and surdo description for children with vision and hearing disabilities. The presentation ceremony was attended by the representatives of the Ministries of Education, Culture and Tourism, Youth and Sports, Communication and High Technologies, Health, State Committee for Family, Woman and Children Affairs, Office of the Ombudsman, Nariman district Executive Power. After presentation of the animated film, the art program prepared by the pupils was demonstrated.

The Ministry of Education expands the process of use of the visual aids that meet the international standards of education and provision of the secondary education schools with the modern information and communication technologies in accordance with the “National Education Development Strategy”

On March 16 was organized media tour to secondary schools no 193 located in Narimanov district and no. 24 located in Khatai district, Baku - 2 schools that equipped with "Labdisc". Media representatives took part in "Open Lesson" on physics and chemistry organized with the use of the new equipment. Within the media tour, the press representatives were informed that Labdisc data logger operates as a whole laboratory with 15 embedded wireless sensors. The device integrated with all the major technology and equipments of the school through wireless communication. The system is connected to the computers, laptops, interactive boards and tablets, and provides the high sensitivity in wireless laboratory conditions. And this enables cooperation between teacher and students and interactive education, as well as saves technological costs. The device consisted of the hardware and software supports Azerbaijani language and is easily operated by Windows and Android users. Also, there was developed mobile cart to conduct experiments in physics, chemistry and biology classes. For the first time in the period of independence of our country, there was purchased such equipments for secondary schools. The Ministry of Education had already started the process of provision of the secondary schools with the modern equipments. The students will have opportunity to conduct complex testings and to watch the process on interactive boards with these equipments. Also, the mobility of these devices enables their use in any place and any conditions. In addition to providing the school with new equipment, the teachers engaged with study of these devices were also conducted with the trainings. Edumedia Azerbaijan company organized training for teaching staff of 25 members within cooperation with the Ministry of Education.
