The national teams of the Ministry of Education have achieved success at the Third International Student Festival held among the CIS countries. Teams of schoolchildren from 12 countries have competed in 7 sports at the Festival held in Ulyanovsk, Russia. During the competitions, our country has been represented by basketball, chess, table tennis and badminton teams consisting of students of sporting schools operating under the Ministry of Education. Our representatives have won second place in basketball and chess, third place in table tennis in the standings. In addition, two Azerbaijani athletes have won third place in badminton in doubles competition. In general, our athletes have won 12 medals in the competitions.

In the academic year 2015-2016, 51 foreign students were accepted into Azerbaijan State University of Economics (ASUE). 21 of them chose training courses for foreign students, 19 of them chose bachelor's degree, 3 of them chose master`s degree, 7 of them chose MBA and 1 of them chose doctoral degree.    Foreign students mostly preferred the specialties of Global Economics and Finance. Nigerian citizens prevail by the 21-member squad among the students. In general, foreign students studying at ASUE are citizens of Russia, Turkey, Uzbekistan, Georgia, Iran, Kuwait and Pakistan. Starting from this year, admission of foreign students to ASUE was conducted only in electronic form. 85 electronic applications were accepted through the web page (http://admission.unec.edu.az/), created for this purpose. The applications were examined in accordance with the requirements of the "Rules of study of citizens of the Republic of Azerbaijan in foreign countries and foreigners and stateless persons in the Republic of Azerbaijan" approved by Resolution No. 125 of the Cabinet of Ministers of Azerbaijan Republic dated May 15, 2015. After that, online interviews were organized via Skype with the applicants who meet the requirements. In the end, 51 people were deemed eligible to study at ASUE. A total of 225 foreign students are currently studying at ASUE.

The ceremony of awarding the heads and collaborators of the Department for organization of the extracurricular activity under the Ministry of Education, at the same time, the sporting schools and creative centers operating in the system of the Ministry was held. At the ceremony, it was noted that within 1-month period starting from May 27, members of recitation, rhetoric, song, vocal and dance groups operating in the Republican Creative House for Young Learners performed on "Ifam" public stage, established in the Fountain Square of Baku in order to provide support for the Baku-2015 First European Games. About 400 out of 956 participants, who performed on "Ifam" stage, were the circle members of the Creative House. The staff of the Republican Creative House and the Department for organization of the extracurricular activity under the Ministry of Education played an important role in the involvement of pupils and students in this work, their coordination, the creation of conditions for the public to watch the concert and implementation of other work. Taking this into account, the director and several collaborators of the Republican Creative House were awarded a Certificate of Merit. A certificate of merit was awarded to the staff of Children and Youth Sports Schools operating under the Ministry during the First European Games for the services rendered by them while conducting mass sporting competitions and implementing organizational work during the competitions. During the ceremony, Firudin Gurbanov, Deputy Minister of Education, congratulated those who have been awarded and presented them with their awards.

On October 8, the signing ceremony of the Memorandum of Cooperation in providing support for the projects "Skills for the business world" and "Hotel Administrator" between the Ministry of Education and the British Council was held. The document was signed by Firudin Gurbanov, Deputy Minister of Education, and Elizabeth Vaud, head of Azerbaijani delegation of the "British Council". At the ceremony, it was noted that the project entitled "Skills for the business world" was intended to improve the knowledge and skills of students studying ICT and telecommunication in the institutions of initial vocational education, as well as to conduct training sessions for teachers operating in the relevant specialties in these education institutions. The purpose of the implementation of the project is to provide students with basic knowledge of economics and business. In addition, the project will provide opportunities for students to gain practical knowledge in the fields of ICT and telecommunication through the internship program. The main objective of the project entitled "Hotel Administrator" is to increase the capacity of specialty subject teachers in Hotel administration in the vocational school no. 5 in Baku. Within the framework of this project, it was intended to prepare relevant curriculum in accordance with national standards and to implement the work experience programs for students and engineering-teaching staff.

The results of the competition for the recruitment of teachers for the academic year 2015-2016 were announced at the conference. It was noted that 18574 out of 24437 people, who applied for 3462 vacancies in order to participate in the competition, took part in the exam. According to the results of the competition, 2441 people were employed in the Azerbaijani section, 177 people were employed in the Russian section, a total of 2618 people were employed. 1887 of them are those who chose the village schools where the incentive measures were applied. In addition, according to the results of the competition, it was agreed that 434 people would be employed on a fixed term contract. During the event, it was spoken about the reform measures implemented in order to prepare teachers and education managers with professional knowledge and competencies and to enhance the prestige of the teaching profession in accordance with the National Strategy for the development of education. It was noted that the first 300 students, who scored 500 or more points in admission to higher education institutions this year and chose the teaching profession in the first place, were awarded with Future Teachers Scholarship in amount of 100 manat. Thus, the number of students receiving Future Teachers Scholarship reached 600 people. This year, 8656 people chose the teaching profession in the entrance examination. 1269 of them scored 500 and more than 500 points. This is 5 percent more than the previous year. At the same time, the average passing score of those, who chose the teaching profession in the academic year 2015-2016, increased and reached 364 points. At the press conference, it was informed that by the end of this year, the diagnostic assessment of knowledge and skills of teachers working in state secondary schools would be held in 12 cities and regions of the country - Ganja, Sumgait, Shirvan, Absheron, Hajigabul, Imishli, Masalli, Khachmaz, Jalilabad, Saatli, Gubadly and Sabirabad, as well as more than 35,000 teachers would participate in the assessment process. At the end of the conference, the numerous questions by the media representatives were answered.

The citizens mostly appealed on recruitment of teachers or replacement of work place from one school to another one also from one region to another one, restoration to the work, recognition of educational documents, transfer of the students of higher and secondary schools from one educational institution to another one, study fee and other issues in the reception held in accordance with citizens’ reception schedule of heads of central executive authorities in the town and regions for September, 2015. Appeals of 33 citizens have been listened in reception and most of problems have been settled immediately. Relevant authorities have been tasked on several appeals. Appeals of several citizens that have personal characteristics or aren’t related to the authorities of the Ministry were recorded in order to deliver to relevant authorities and taken under control.

According to statistics, 11479 calls (7.4 times more than relevant period of 2013, 1.4 times more than relevant period of 2014) have been received by Call Center. 7598 citizens have been served by Citizens Reception Center. Most of the appeals (mostly were of request character) received by Call Center and Reception Center have been responded immediately and settled operatively. According to their inquiries, 662 citizens have been registered for reception of relevant authorities of the Ministry of Education in electronic form. 1704 documents (655 letters, 981 petitions, 68 other documents) have been received and registered in Reception Center. Most of the appeals covered the issues related to recognition (nostrification) of higher education documents (diplomas), recruitment and replacement of teachers, admission of children to secondary schools and their replacement, rehabilitation and transfer to the local higher education institutions. It should be noted that Call Center received the appeals mostly on Wednesday (2851 calls) and Tuesday (2738 calls) mainly from 10:00 to 12:00 and from 13:30 to 16:00 over last month. Citizens Reception Center received the appeals mostly on Monday (1865 appeals), Wednesday (1804 appeals) and Tuesday (1781 appeals) from 10:00 to 12:00 and from 14:00 to 16:00.

During the meeting, the sides expressed satisfaction with development of relations between Azerbaijan and Italy and particularly noted the attention paid by the leadership of both countries to expanding these relations and strengthening friendship between the two peoples. The sides also highlighted the importance of the successful holding of the Azerbaijani-Italian Inter-University Forum and the development of cooperation between the higher education institutions of the two countries according to the results of the Forum. The ministers also discussed issues such as the current state of cooperation in the field of education between Azerbaijan and Italy, the student and faculty exchange among higher education institutions, the prospects for the implementation of joint research projects and the support for teaching Italian language in Azerbaijan. It should be noted that the delegation, consisting of representatives of the Ministry of Education and 11 public higher education institutions, visited Italy under the leadership of Mikayil Jabbarov, Minister of Education, in order to attend the Azerbaijani-Italian Inter-University Forum organized at the Azerbaijan`s pavilion in the international exhibition "Expo Milano 2015".

The 8th European Championships in Acrobatic Gymnastics, held in Riesa, Germany, was attended by more than 200 athletes from 27 countries. In the competition, our country was represented by Agasif Rahimov, Seymur Jafarov, Murad Akbarov and Nurjan Jabbarli, graduates of Gymnastics School and members of the national team. In tense struggle for the age group 12-18 years, Seymur Jafarov and Murad Akbarov took 2nd place and won silver medal in men's pair, Agasif Rahimov and Nurjan Jabbarli took 3rd place and won bronze medal in mixed pair.

The event was attended by about 20 media representatives, representing the mass media. During the media tour, media representatives were informed about the "Healthy education" classes. It was noted that 52 "Healthy education" classes were established within the framework of the project "Healthy Education – Healthy Nation" in the academic year 2015-2016. Currently, 67 "Healthy education" classes operate in 34 educational institutions (33 secondary schools in Baku, 1 secondary school in Sumgait). 15 of them were established in the previous academic year. It should be noted that the teaching process is conducted under the conditions of active learning. Student desks give the opportunity to work sitting down and standing up. The teaching aid entitled "Class Hygiene" was prepared and delivered to teachers in order to more effectively organize the enlightenment of teachers, who teach in these classes. The medical monitoring, conducted in 15 "Healthy education" classes operating from the previous academic year, revealed that the technologies used in these classes had a positive impact on the health of children. At the same time, it was determined that students, studying in these classes, developed physically and intellectually, and their learning ability, as well as emotional and psychological state improved. The main purpose of the project "Healthy Education – Healthy Nation" is to improve the learning achievements of students, to eliminate restriction of movement, arising from teaching conditions, and other factors, and to protect their health.
