• Azərbaycan Xalq Cümhuriyyəti hökumətinin 1918-ci il 28 may tarixli qərarı ilə maarif və təhsil üzrə ilk nazirlik-Xalq Maarifi Nazirliyi yaradılıb. Nazirlər Şurasının 30 iyun 1918-ci il tarixli qərarı ilə Xalq Maarifi Nazirliyinin üç şöbədən (ümumi orta təhsil, ali və orta ixtisas təhsili, peşə məktəbləri) ibarət strukturu təsdiq olunub.

    Azərbaycan SSR Xalq Komissarları Sovetinin 28 aprel 1920-ci il tarixli qərarı ilə Xalq Maarifi Nazirliyinin adı dəyişdirilərək Xalq Maarifi Komissarlığı adı ilə yenidən təşkil edilib və ölkədəki bütün təhsil müəssisələri bu qurumun tabeliyinə verilib.

A meeting was held between the Ministry of Science and Education and “QS Quacquarelli Symonds” International Rating Agency

On May 1, a meeting was organized with Sergey Khristolyubov, regional director for Eastern Europe and Central Asia of the “QS Quacquarelli Symonds” International Rating Agency at the Ministry of Science and Education.   In the meeting led by the Minister of Science and Education Emin Amrullayev, the increasing the competitiveness of higher education institutions in Azerbaijan and development opportunities according to international indicators were discussed.   During the meeting, detailed discussions were held on strengthening the international recognition of our country’s educational programs, as well as cooperation opportunities.

The Deputy Minister of Science and Education visited Ankara

The delegation led by Deputy Minister of Science and Education Hasan Hasanli visited Ankara, Republic of Turkey.   On April 29, the delegation held a meeting with the head of the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA) Erkan Kayalar, Deputy Minister of National Education of the Republic of Turkey Celile Eren Ökten.   During the meetings, discussions were held on various directions of cooperation in the field of education between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Turkey.   On April 30, the delegation met with Erol Özvar, Chairman of the Higher Education Council of the Republic of Turkey. Necessary issues related to the organization of activities of Turkey-Azerbaijan University (TAU) were discussed at the meeting.

The next meeting of the “Human capital” working group was held

On April 25, the next meeting of the “Human capital” working group of the Commission on Business Environment and International Ratings was held in the videoconference format at the Ministry of Science and Education.   Head of the working group, Deputy Minister of Science and Education Idris Isayev and Sector Head of the Administration of the President Administration of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Head of the Secretariat of the Commission on Business Environment and International Ratings Vusal Shikhaliyev, made an opening speech and reported on the general activity of the working group in the past period, achieved successes and expectations.   Later, Roya Musayeva, secretary of the “Human capital” working group, gave a presentation on the dynamics of changes in indicators and possible innovations in the international rankings of the Action Plan for 2022 and 2023. Roya Musayeva brought to the attention of the participants the information about the work done, difficulties, as well as future plans.   The meeting continued with the presentations of Nijat Asadli, deputy director of the State Agency for Science and Higher Education, and Natig Mammadli, deputy head of the department of the Ministry of Economy.   In the end, decisions were made on the working group’s activity, current and other upcoming issues.

Presidents of Azerbaijan and Kyrgyzstan attended ground-breaking ceremony for secondary school of Khydyrli village in Aghdam

Emin Amrullaev meets with his Kyrgyz counterpart

The Minister of Science and Education Emin Amrullayev met with Kyrgyz Minister of Education and Science Dogdurkul Kendirbayeva on 24 April as part of the visit of a delegation led by the President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Zhaparov to Azerbaijan.   During the meeting, an exchange of views was held on issues related to the implementation of measures arising from the "Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic on cooperation in the field of education and science".   The meeting also discussed the current situation and prospects for the development of cooperation in the field of science and education between the two countries.

Azerbaijan and Kyrgyzstan sign documents in the field of education

A ceremony for signing Azerbaijani-Kyrgyz documents was held with the participation of President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Zhaparov on 24 April.   During the ceremony, Minister of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan Emin Emrullayev and Minister of Education and Science of the Kyrgyz Republic Dogdurkul Kendirbaeva signed the "Agreement on cooperation in the field of education and science between the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic".   Under the agreement, the parties will promote the establishment and development of direct links between educational institutions, exchange of experience, as well as visits by teachers, researchers, scientists and other educators in order to strengthen bilateral cooperation in areas of mutual interest.   Within the framework of the agreement, both parties, in accordance with their national legislation and on a reciprocal basis, will annually allocate 5 quota places on bachelor's degree programs to citizens of the other state to study at universities in the opposite country.

Minister of Science and Education meets with UNICEF Representative in Azerbaijan

On 16 April, the Azerbaijan’s Minister of Science and Education Emin Amrullayev has met with UNICEF Representative in the Republic of Azerbaijan Dr. Saja Farooq Abdullah.   During the meeting, the sides exchanged views on the projects implemented by the Ministry of Science and Education together with UNICEF, as well as the prospects for future cooperation.

3rd International Experience-Based Learning Conference kicks off in Baku

On April 12, the opening ceremony of the III International Experience-Based Learning Conference was held in Baku. In his presentation at the event, Deputy Minister of Science and Education Kanan Karimzadeh spoke about the tasks and goals facing education following the “Strategy of socio-economic development of the Republic of Azerbaijan for 2022-2026," as well as the work carried out by the Ministry of Science and Education in recent times. Kanan Karimzadeh noted that currently improving the position of our country in international evaluations and achieving the representation of our 3 universities in the top 800 are among the main educational goals. In his speech, the Director General of the European Azerbaijan School, Francesco Bancini, said that the purpose of the conference is to learn the most modern approaches from educational leaders, discuss the field of education, and explore new ideas and strategies. The Director General also emphasized that representatives from Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Georgia, Turkey and other countries participated in the conference and pointed out that knowledge and experience will be exchanged at the international and local level within the framework of the event.   It should be noted that more than 60 workshops will be organised in 3 days at the conference held with the participation of education specialists as well as directors and teachers.  

Two universities in Azerbaijan rank in world rankings

Quacquarelli Symonds (QS), an international analytical agency renowned for its comprehensive university rankings, has recently unveiled its highly anticipated QS World University Rankings by Subject for the year 2024.   Azerbaijan was represented in the mentioned rating by the educational programs of two universities. Azerbaijan University of Languages, which has achieved the highest result in the country, has entered the list of 301-340 best universities in the world on the program "Modern Languages". In its turn, Azerbaijan State Economic University has been included in the list of 351-400 best universities in the world in the program "Economics and Econometrics" and in the list of 501-550 best universities in the world in the program "Social Sciences and Management".   It should be noted that the methodology of assessment of the relevant rating includes 5 main indicators: academic reputation, reputation among employers, number of references, H-index and international scientific cooperation index.
