Ministry of Science and Education and President of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic meets with students at Baku State University
On October 13, as part of his official visit to the Republic of Azerbaijan, President of the Lao People's Democratic Republic Thongloun Sisoulith visited Baku State University (BSU) and met with students studying there.
Addressing the meeting, BSU Rector Elchin Babayev noted that the university is interested in establishing partnerships with leading universities in Laos and that there are opportunities to expand cooperation in the field of education.
In his speech, Minister of Science and Education Emin Amrullayev noted that during the Soviet period, about two thousand Laotian citizens received their education at various higher education institutions in Azerbaijan. Highlighting the opportunities provided by the 'Heydar Aliyev International Education Grant' program, the Minister invited Laotian youth to take advantage of them. The Minister also emphasized the importance of expanding cooperation between the universities and research institutions of the two countries, as well as promoting the exchange of students and faculty members.
President of the Lao People's Democratic Republic Thongloun Sisoulith, in his turn, noted that he attaches great importance to the development of cooperation between the two countries in the fields of science and education.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the President of Laos answered questions from the students.
Subsequently, Thongloun Sisoulith toured the National Leader Heydar Aliyev Museum at BSU. The National Leader Heydar Aliyev was elected as an Honorary Doctor of Baku State University.
