Winners of “Best presentation” contest awarded

A ceremony was held at Heydar Aliyev Center on May 4 to award the winners of “Best presentation” contest, which marked the 95th birthday anniversary of national leader Heydar Aliyev. Prior to the ceremony, senior education officials visited the Alley of Honors to pay tribute to national leader Heydar Aliyev and lay flowers at his grave. They also put flowers at the grave of prominent ophthalmologist, academician Zarifa Aliyeva. Participants in the award ceremony included Deputy Prime Minister, deputy chair and executive secretary of the New Azerbaijan Party Ali Ahmadov, Executive Director of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Anar Alakbarov, Minister of Transport, Communications and High Technologies Ramin Guluzade, Chairman of Azerbaijan Education Workers Free Trade Unions Republican Committee Sattar Mehbaliyev, parliamentarians, heads of educational institutions, education experts, teachers and students. The ceremony started with the performance of the state anthem by the choir of the Arts Gymnasium. Minister of Education Jeyhun Bayramov said national leader Heydar Aliyev played a crucial role in ensuring Azerbaijan`s overall development and global recognition. Pointing out effective programs and projects carried out in education sector, Jeyhun Bayramov highlighted measures implemented under the “State Strategy for Development of Education in the Republic of Azerbaijan”, which was approved by President Ilham Aliyev. The minister hailed First Vice-President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, president of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Mehriban Aliyeva`s attention to education. Jeyhun Bayramov highlighted achievements in education, saying that projects implemented in this sector contributed to the improvement of financial resources and infrastructure of educational institutions. The minister emphasized the importance of the “Best presentation” contest among schoolchildren in terms of promoting great politician and outstanding statesman Heydar Aliyev`s rich legacy, large-scale activity and statehood philosophy among the young generation. He congratulated the winners of the contest. Deputy Prime Minister, deputy chair and executive secretary of the New Azerbaijan Party Ali Ahmadov said the contest played an exceptional role in shaping the youth`s political mindset and raising them in the patriotic spirit. Ali Ahmadov said Azerbaijan had made great strides in the field of education in recent years, expressing his confidence that reforms would pave the way for laying a strong foundation for future development of the country. Executive Director of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Anar Alakbarov noted the significance of the contest. He highlighted the activities of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation. Anar Alakbarov said the foundation was promoting national leader Heydar Aliyev`s ideas through implementing large-scale projects aimed at ensuring the country`s prosperity and the people`s well-being. “Today` s contest testifies to the Azerbaijani youth`s interest in studying national leader Heydar Aliyev`s services to the country as well as his state building conception.” Minister of Transport, Communications and High Technologies Ramin Guluzade said that during his tenure national leader Heydar Aliyev took crucial steps towards ensuring Azerbaijan`s development and its global recognition. Pointing out President Ilham Aliyev`s attention to education, the minister said a number of grants were allocated for startup projects, particularly those involving youth, in order to develop innovative areas in the country. Chairman of Azerbaijan Education Workers Free Trade Unions Republican Committee Sattar Mehbalıyev praised the Azerbaijani government`s attention to intellectual development of youth, preparation of highly-qualified specialists, discovery of talented children and youth, development of their potential. Sattar Mehbaliyev said Azerbaijan`s education system enjoyed wide opportunities for integration into education systems of developed countries. The event featured performance by students of the Republican Arts Gymnasium. According to results of “Best presentation” contest, eight entries received 1st degree certificates, 14 entries received 2nd degree certificates, 18 entries received 3rd degree certificates and 25 entries received certificates of merit. The winners also received valuable prizes. Held among 9th-11th grade pupils of general education institutions, the contest was co-organized by the Ministry of Education, Heydar Aliyev Foundation, New Azerbaijan Party, Ministry of Transport, Communications and High Technologies, and Azerbaijan Education Workers Free Trade Unions Republican Committee.

Minister of education introduced to staff

On April 24, head of the Presidential Administration of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ramiz Mehdiyev introduced Jeyhun Bayramov, who was appointed as Minister of Education by the Order of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan of April 23, 2018, to the staff of the ministry. Head of the Presidential Administration of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ramiz Mehdiyev hailed the achievements gained in all areas under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev in recent years, especially education reforms. Jeyhun Bayramov thanked the head of state for high confidence placed in him. He said all resources would be mobilized to ensure proper implementation of far-reaching tasks in education set by the Azerbaijani President.

Meeting with Georgian minister of education and science

Acting Minister of Education, Deputy Minister Jeyhun Bayramov met with a delegation led by Georgia`s Minister of Education and Science Mikheil Chkhenkeli, which is on a working visit in Baku, on April 20. They discussed the current state of cooperation between the two countries in the field of education and future collaboration prospects. The sides highlighted education reforms conducted in Azerbaijan and Georgia, and noted the importance of experience exchange in developing the education sector. Mikheil Chkhenkeli is in Baku to attend a semi-annual conference of the International Association of University Presidents, which is hosted by Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University under the theme “Globalization and New Dimensions in Higher Education” on April 18-20.

Deputy minister of education attends meeting of education ministers of Black Sea Economic Cooperation organization

Deputy Minister of Education Firudin Qurbanov attended a meeting of education ministers of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (BSEC) organization on April 20. Minister of Education and Science of the Russian Federation Olga Vasilyeva and Secretary General of the BSEC Michael Christides addressed the opening ceremony of the event. The meeting the featured speeches by representative of the BSEC member states. Firudin Qurbanov highlighted reforms conducted in the education sector under the “State Program for Development of Education in the Republic of Azerbaijan” and their positive trends. The deputy minister also spoke of cooperation among the BSEC member states in the field of education, especially among higher education institutions.

Forum gets underway as part of 5th Moscow International Education Fair

A forum has kicked off as part of the 5th Moscow International Education Fair. A delegation led by deputy minister of education Firudin Qurbanov attended the Ministerial Forum “Global Dialogue on ICT and Education Innovation – Towards Sustainable Development Goal for Education (SDG 4)”, which was organized by the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation in partnership with UNESCO. Participants in the forum included deputy chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation Olga Golodets, Russian minister of education and science Olga Vasilyeva, deputy minister of education and science Pavel Zenkovich, head of the ICT in Education team within the section for Teacher Development and Education Policies at UNESCO Fengchun Miao, senior education executives from foreign countries and international organizations, teachers and methodologists. Addressing the event, Azerbaijani deputy minister of education Firudin Qurbanov described the forum as a favourable opportunity for getting acquainted with the recent achievements in the education sector and exchanging views in this area. Highlighting Azerbaijan`s success in education sector, Firudin Qurbanov said that wide application of ICT in education is one of the state policy priorities. The deputy minister noted that the application of advanced information technologies in the teaching process using international experience is enshrined in the “State Strategy for the Development of Education in the Republic of Azerbaijan”. Firudin Qurbanov noted a special role played by information resources in implementing the strategy. “A fully-equipped state-of-the-art Data Center was established within the ministry to this end. The center allowed to create Azerbaijan Education Network, which connects all educational institutions, organizations and bodies subordinate to the ministry, and also to make – in a centralized manner – electronic textbooks and other teaching resources available online. 2,500 educational institutions, which account for 82 percent of the total number of pupils and 72 percent of the total number of teachers in the country, joined the network.” The deputy minister said special attention is paid to the teaching of “Informatics” subject and organization of informatics Olympiads. Firudin Qurbanov said the Ministry of Education partnered with Russian “Algoritmika” company, a leading IT systems and educational software provider, to launch “Digital skills” pilot project in 45 schools in Baku. Under the project, “Informatics” subject is taught in these schools in a new format through applying advanced technologies and improving schoolchildren’s digital skills. Firudin Qurbanov also highlighted the activity of the ministry`s electronic textbook portal (www.e-derslik.edu.az), and provided an insight into what has been done in the field of distance education. The deputy minister said Azerbaijan is one of the main bidders to host world Expo 2025 exhibition. One of the sub-themes of the exhibition is “Education of the future”, he said. Firudin Qurbanov responded to questions from participants of the panel discussion. The event participants then viewed the Moscow International Education Fair. On April 18, Firudin Qurbanov addressed “Russian revolution and the history of Azerbaijan Democratic Republic: a look back a century later” international event in Moscow. The deputy minister hailed relations between the two countries in the field of education, and highlighted joint projects. Azerbaijan`s ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary to the Russian Federation Polad Bulbuloglu also attended the event, which took place at Moscow State University. The Moscow International Education Fair will feature nearly 1,000 events, bringing together more than 1,000 experts and 60,000 visitors. Four hundred exhibits will be on display. On April 20, the fair will feature a meeting of education ministers of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation organization for the first time in 13 years. Deputy minister of education Firudin Qurbanov will address the event. The Moscow International Education Fair will close on April 21.

Deputy minister of education Firudin Qurbanov to visit Moscow

Deputy minister of education Firudin Qurbanov will be visiting the Russian capital of Moscow from April 18-21 to attend a forum to be organized as part of the Moscow International Education Fair and a meeting of the ministers of education of the member states of the Organization of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation. Ministerial Forum “Global Dialogue on ICT and Education Innovation – Towards Sustainable Development Goal for Education (SDG 4)” will be organized by the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation in partnership with UNESCO. Participants in the forum will include officials of a number of countries, representatives of heads of higher education institutions and international organizations. On April 20, Firudin Qurbanov will attend the meeting of the ministers of education of the member states of the Organization of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation.

First Vice-President Mehriban Aliyeva met with young inventors

First Vice-President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Mehriban Aliyeva has met with young inventors Reyhan Jamalova and Zahra Gasimzade, who founded world-known start-up Rainergy. The 15-year-old inventors informed the First Vice-President about their projects and future plans. They said Rainergy not only collects rainwater but harvests energy from it for later use. Rainergy, which was invented by the 9th grade students of Istek lyceum, attracted great interest in the Global Entrepreneurship Summit 2017. Reyhan Jamalova was one of the three entrepreneurs referred to by US President Donald Trump’s daughter and advisor Ivanka Trump in her speech at the inaugural session. First Vice-President Mehriban Aliyeva said that she is very happy that Azerbaijan has such young talents. Noting that she is proud that such young generation is growing up in Azerbaijan, Mehriban Aliyeva said the government will provide necessary support for their project, and. Event marking centenary of genocide of Azerbaijanis

  The Ministry of Education, Guba Region Executive Authority, Guba Region Education Department and the regional Children`s and Youth Development Center have co-organized “Genocide-100” event. The event involved schoolchildren from Baku and Guba as well as 50 pupils from Turkey, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan who participate in “Second schoolchildren exchange program of the Cooperation Council of Turkic-Speaking States”. Participants of the event visited Guba Genocide Memorial Complex, and viewed an exhibition of handiworks and drawings of children attending different courses at the Children`s and Youth Development Center. Addressing the official part of the event, head of the division at the Department of Organization of Extracurricular Activities of the Ministry of Education Ayla Hasanova stressed the importance of passing on the common values shared by the Turkic nations to the young generation. She also emphasized the fact that schoolchildren commemorate the Day of Genocide and that youth from Turkic countries have the opportunity to see the truth about genocide. Speakers at the event noted the significance of instilling patriotic values into children and raising the young generation`s awareness of the genocide committed against Azerbaijanis. The event then featured performance by members of the Children`s and Youth Development Center and the screening of a documentary film on the March genocide.

9 modular schools to be built in Aghdash and Barda regions

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has signed an Order regarding measures to improve education infrastructure in Aghdash and Barda regions. Under the presidential Order, the Ministry of Education is allocated 2,595,000 manats for the construction of 9 modular schools for a total of 412 pupils in two regions. The schools will be built in Khinakhli, Malay, Amirmahmud, Binalar and Bulagotaghi villages in Aghdash, and Imamgulubeyli, Boyuk Gajar, Najafgulubeyli and Tahla villages in Barda. The advantages of modular schools include low-cost building work, quick construction and portability of module sections, and the opportunity to adjust the number of classrooms to the number of pupils.   AZERTAC

Foundation stone laid for new Vocational Education Center

A ceremony was held on January 26 to lay a foundation stone for a new Vocational Education Center that will be established in accordance with the Korean education standards on the basis of Baku State Vocational Education Center on Industry and Innovations. Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony, acting minister, deputy minister of education Jeyhun Bayramov highlighted reforms carried out in the country in recent years to develop vocational education, and drew the audience`s attention to key priorities of state policy in this area. He stressed the importance of “Strategic Roadmap for Development of Vocational Education and Training in the Republic of Azerbaijan”. Jeyhun Bayramov noted the significance of establishing such centers in terms of preparing competitive specialists meeting the changing requirements of the labor market. He said that under agreement reached by the Azerbaijani and Korean governments, a new exemplary educational institution will be created on the basis of Baku State Vocational Education Center on Industry and Innovations by providing it with the necessary equipment, teaching and training aids. Jeyhun Bayramov expressed his confidence that favorable conditions will be created at the Vocational Education Center in order to develop knowledge and skills of students. He also said that the establishment of such educational institutions is of particular importance to developing economy. Head of the Department for Work with International Financial Organizations of the Cabinet of Ministers Nail Fataliyev, Korean ambassador to Azerbaijan Kim Chang gyu, president of Human Resources Development Service of Korea (HRD) Kim Dong Man highlighted cooperation between the two countries, particularly exchange in the field of education. The speakers expressed their confidence that the new center will play a vital role in preparing highly-qualified specialists meeting requirements of the labor market and building an effective vocational education model. Under the project, the new center will feature the advanced resources and infrastructure and offer education and training in eight occupations: mechanics, electronics, electrical engineering, industrial installation, construction, information technologies, automobile and automation. The center will be created using the Korean curriculum and with involvement of Korean specialists.
