On January 13, Deputy Minister of Science and Education Hasan Hasanli took part in the 6th meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation between Azerbaijan and Italy in Baku.   Speaking at the meeting, the deputy minister informed participants about the current state of cooperation between the two countries in the field of science and education. In his speech, the Deputy Minister also spoke about the activities of the Italian-Azerbaijani University, expanding mutual exchange of experience, supporting joint educational projects, as well as the work being done to deepen academic ties between general education and higher education institutions.   The commission meeting also discussed the current state of cooperation and potential opportunities for cooperation between the two countries in the areas of trade and economics, industry, energy, transport, information and communication technologies, healthcare, and culture. In conclusion, a protocol was signed summarizing the results of the meeting.

The presentation ceremony of the “Azerbaijani Language” platform (https://azerbaijani.edu.az/) was held on December 28 at Azerbaijan University of Languages. Vice-President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and founder and head of IDEA Public Union Leyla Aliyeva, Head of Baku Media Center Arzu Aliyeva, and the project’s author and head Alena Aliyeva attended the event.   This platform, established in accordance with the President's directives on preserving the purity of the Azerbaijani language, aims to facilitate language learning and ensure its systematic teaching. It is designed to make this process more effective and accessible through modern interactive digital resources, and to reach a broad audience, including individuals of all ages and interests.   Before the opening ceremony, guests visited the museum of Azerbaijan University of Languages, familiarized themselves with its activities, and received information about the exhibits on display. The university's rector, Kamal Abdulla, briefed the guests about the work of the higher education institution.   Addressing the ceremony, Kamal Abdulla highlighted the significance of the platform in safeguarding and advancing the Azerbaijani language within the modern digital environment. Referring to President Ilham Aliyev’s remarks on the preservation and development of the Azerbaijani language during a meeting dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences, the rector noted the strong need for such a platform. He emphasized that the university’s scientists and young specialists had successfully and honorably fulfilled this important task. In her speech, the author and head of the project, Alena Aliyeva, highlighted the important role of education in society and congratulated the participants on the presentation of the platform. She expressed gratitude to the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Azerbaijan University of Languages, and all project participants for their support in implementing the project.   Vice-Rector of Azerbaijan University of Languages Jala Garibova and project coordinator Sabina Aliyeva subsequently presented the “Azerbaijani Language” platform, providing detailed information on its objectives, functional capabilities, and content tailored to different age groups and users.   It is noted that the Azerbaijani language learning process on the platform is built upon four key skills. Materials and tasks for reading and analysis, listening and comprehension, writing, and speaking are reflected on the platform. In addition to this, the platform includes sections on grammar, sociolinguistics, vocabulary, and resources. The materials are presented across six levels, each of which has been prepared taking into account the corresponding vocabulary and grammatical rules. This will significantly facilitate the learning of our language for foreigners.   Minister of Science and Education Emin Amrullayev, who delivered a congratulatory address, stated that the “Azerbaijani Language” platform would make an important contribution to improving the quality of teaching and learning the state language and expanding digital educational resources. He emphasized that such initiatives play a special role in developing the Azerbaijani language in line with modern challenges.   Speaking about efforts undertaken in accordance with President Ilham Aliyev’s instructions to preserve the purity of the Azerbaijani language, the minister said: “The essence of the platform is to teach our language to people whose native language is not Azerbaijani. The platform will be especially useful for foreign students studying in Azerbaijan, foreigners wishing to work in our country, and those who want to learn Azerbaijani as a foreign language. The platform is built on English, but it can also be translated into other languages. I am confident that the platform will be successful.”   A video dedicated to the “Azerbaijani Language” platform was then screened.   An artistic program was also presented as part of the ceremony.   The event concluded with commemorative photos.   It should be noted that holding the presentation ceremony on the eve of December 31 - World Azerbaijanis Solidarity Day - once again underscored that the Azerbaijani language is one of the key values uniting Azerbaijanis worldwide.

On December 25, the Minister of Science and Education  Emin Amrullayev has met with Resident Coordinator of the United Nations (UN) Office in the Republic of Azerbaijan, Vladanka Andreeva.    During the meeting, activities undertaken within the framework of the existing cooperation with the mentioned organization were discussed. At the same time, the parties exchanged views on the prospects for future cooperation, based on the "Framework Document on Cooperation between the UN and Azerbaijan for Sustainable Development for 2026-2030".

President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev attended the opening of the newly constructed building for the Faculty of Business and Economics at Garabagh University in the city of Khankendi on December 23.   The head of state was briefed on the facilities available in the new building.   The Faculty of Business and Economics is a key academic unit focused on creating a modern learning environment. Currently, it employs 20 faculty, administrative, and technical staff, and a total of 505 students are enrolled at the bachelor’s level in seven specialties: economics, finance, accounting, management, public and municipal administration, international trade and logistics, and tourism organization.   The faculty prioritizes the development of new academic content, the application of modern teaching methods, the enhancement of practical skills, innovative management, and result-oriented scientific research.   The new educational building includes 40 auditoriums, computer laboratories, a library, reading and assembly halls, meeting rooms, administrative offices, and faculty rooms. Designed and constructed according to modern university standards, the building incorporates principles of sustainable development, inclusivity, and efficient resource use. Its spacious, modern infrastructure facilitates effective educational, research, and administrative activities.   These facilities will strengthen the faculty’s scientific and pedagogical potential, enhance students’ knowledge and skills, train highly qualified specialists in economics and business to meet the evolving labor market demands, and expand scientific-research and innovation activities.   The commissioning of the new building is an important step in developing a modern campus at Garabagh University and contributes to establishing a high-level higher education ecosystem in Garabagh and East Zangezur.   During 2024–2025, President Ilham Aliyev visited Garabagh University to review ongoing work and participated in the opening ceremonies of the university, student dormitory, clinic building, and the educational corpus of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences.   Currently, Garabagh University enrolls 2,154 students across 34 specialties within seven faculties.   https://president.az

President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev laid the foundation stone for the Engineering Faculty building of Garabagh University in the city of Khankendi on December 23.   The head of state was briefed on the facilities planned for the new building.   The Engineering Faculty is a key academic unit focused on training engineering personnel equipped to meet modern technological challenges, with an emphasis on innovation and practical application. Currently, the faculty employs 19 academic, administrative, and technical staff, and a total of 314 students are enrolled.   At the bachelor’s level, training is provided in seven specialties: electrical and electronics, construction, mechatronics and robotics, logistics and transport technologies, computer engineering, data analytics, and mathematics. Additional engineering specialties are planned for the future.   The new building will be constructed according to modern standards and is expected to be completed in a short timeframe. It will feature auditoriums, laboratories, a library, and scientific-research and innovation spaces designed to ensure high-quality education, strengthen students’ theoretical knowledge and practical skills, and foster innovative activity.   The project is expected to make a significant contribution to the development of engineering education in Azerbaijan, promote the application of modern academic content and innovative teaching methods, and create an advanced higher education environment supporting the comprehensive development of students.   https://president.az

President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev attended the opening ceremony of the newly renovated Secondary School No. 1 in the Karkijahan settlement of the city of Khankendi on December 23.   Minister of Science and Education Emin Amrullayev briefed the head of state on the project.   The major renovation of the school, designed for 624 students, was carried out to a high standard and completed within a short period of time. The building now includes 17 classrooms, specialized laboratories, STEAM and IT rooms, military training classrooms, as well as biology, chemistry, physics and technology classrooms, club rooms, a pre-school preparation room, a library and reading hall, a gymnasium, an assembly hall, and a cafeteria, all fully equipped and ready for use by teachers and students. Each room is furnished with the necessary educational equipment and teaching resources.   Additionally, an outdoor sports facility has been built on the school premises. The Minister of Science and Education Emin Amrullayev met with the heads of leading Türkiye’s higher education institutions visiting our country as part of the jubilee event dedicated to the 50th anniversary of the Azerbaijan University of Architecture and Construction.   The meeting was attended by Istanbul University Rector Osman Bülent Zülfikar, Gazi University Rector Uğur Ünal, Yıldız Technical University Vice Rector Huseyin Yılmaz, and other representatives.   During the discussions between the parties, opinions were exchanged on opportunities for cooperation between higher education institutions in the two countries, joint projects, student and teacher exchanges, and current prospects for development in the field of higher education.   During the meeting, Minister Emin Amrullayev emphasized the importance of further expanding cooperation in the field of education between Azerbaijan and Türkiye, noting that the implementation of new initiatives in this direction will contribute to the higher education systems of both countries.   The heads of Türkiye's higher education institutions, in turn, expressed their satisfaction with the current level of cooperation with Azerbaijan in the field of education and noted the importance of increasing mutual visits and joint initiatives.
