Within the framework of the schoolchildren`s awards program of the World Intellectual Property Organization, Huseyn Hajiyev, sixth grade student of Baku European Lyceum, was awarded with the prize for his achievements in the field of information technology.
Huseyn Hajiyev, successfully passed the interview organized by "Microsoft Azerbaijan" company in 2013, was awarded the Certificate "The most young and active Windows Expert" in the 19th International Telecommunication and Information Technologies Exhibition - BakuTel-2013. He was able to win the level “Advanced Master” of «ICT Masters Organization» of Baku European Lyceum. H.Hajiyev received a certificate for taking part in the webinar entitled "Digital Learning Weeks in Baku European Lyceum" within the framework of the UNESCO LFF project implemented by Baku European Lyceum in 2014 with the participation of 5 countries. As well as, he became the winner of several projects by taking an active part in the UNESCO project Global Lab. He demonstrated the best results and was awarded with the Diploma in the "Beaver 2014" International competition for schoolchildren on Informatics and Computer Knowledge. H.Hajiyev, preparing the application program for Lyceum teachers for the assessment of students on the points system, is working on a scientific project entitled "The role of programming in education". He is enthusiastically engaged in graphic arts, music and dance. It should be noted that Azerbaijani student will be awarded with the prize of World Intellectual Property Organization in August this year.

By Order of the Minister of Education of Azerbaijan Republic dated June 8, 2015, the name of 50 schools located in Baku, Ganja, Sumgait, Mingechevir and Shirvan cities was included in the list of educational institutions where teaching will be organized on subject-orientations in grades 10-11 since the 2015-2016 academic year and the teaching plans were approved on 4 subject-oriented directions (technical, mathematical-economic, humanitarian, natural).
The number of subjects to be taught was reduced to 9 in technical subjects oriented classes, to 8 in mathematical-economic and humanitarian subjects oriented classes, to 10 in natural sciences oriented classes. Regardless of the subject-oriented directions, Azerbaijani language (Russian language in the Russian sector), foreign language, literature, mathematics, Azerbaijani history, physical education, pre-conscription military training of youth subjects are maintained in curriculum. Subject-oriented classes will be complemented with the condition that the number of students must be at least 20 people in accordance with the existing rules. The Order of the Ministry intends to implement extensive awareness-raising activities in places related to the orientation, to take organizational measures for the acquisition of subject-oriented classes and to organize trainings for teachers who teach subject-oriented lessons. It should be noted that a pilot project for secondary education orientation began to be applied a few years ago in 5 schools operating in Baku. The special teaching plans were approved and the expanded programs of subject-oriented lessons were prepared for these schools by reducing the number of subjects from 18 to 13. In the following years, 3 more institutions have been included in the list of pilot schools. The main objective of the implementation of pilot project is to test the organization of education according to the orientations at full secondary education level, to carry out the relevant preparatory work in connection with a massive transition to this process in the future and to shape public opinion in the society about it. Analysis of the results of the project show that due to the application of the subject-orientation is organized in accordance with the inclinations and wishes of students at full secondary education level, their interest in training has significantly increased and it has had a positive impact on educational achievements of pupils. Subject-orientation is used in most countries of the world. Subject-orientation is among the main factors that positively affect student achievement in Singapore, South Korea, the Netherlands, Poland, Estonia and other countries, achieved success in international assessment studies. For example, in Singapore, the distribution of students to different orientations is held after sixth grade and students are given the opportunity to choose educational programs in different directions. In the Netherlands, subject-orientation has been intensively applied since the 70s. In Great Britain, a small number of subjects is taught to learners in the upper grades as a result of subject-orientation. The expectations on implementation of subject-orientation in the country are as follows: Students` inclinations and interests will be taken into account in the organization of the educational process; Students will acquire in-depth knowledge on the subjects taught to them; Students' motivation to learn will increase; Students determined their professional directions for the higher education level will demonstrate a higher level of training; Students` need for additional teachers will be reduced. All of these factors will lead to increasing the quality of education and the formation of highly qualified human capital.

Students of Baku European Lyceum attended the 12th International Russian Language Olympiad held in Moscow among schoolchildren.
The Olympiad, organized by the Pushkin State Russian Language Institute, was attended by Nazrin Kazimzade, Narmin Aydarova, Narmin Bayramova and Fidan Mirzayeva, 10th grade students of the lyceum. Azerbaijani students passed the exam in the Russian language and statehood subjects. They also took part in the Russian essay and "Melo-recitation" and "Young orator" contests. In the artistic part of the Olympiad, students of the lyceum performed national dances for the guests. In the closing ceremony of the Olympiad, Narmin Aydarova and Fidan Mirzayeva were awarded with the Diploma and Khumar Ahmadbayli, head of the delegation, lyceum teacher, was awarded with the certificate of acknowledgement.

On June 10, the Ministry of Education held a working meeting with the participation of Vice-rectors for international relations and Deans on work with foreign students of higher education institutions.
The purpose of the meeting consisted of the presentation of the "Rules of study of citizens of the Republic of Azerbaijan in foreign countries and foreigners and stateless persons in Azerbaijan" approved by Resolution No. 125 of the Cabinet of Ministers of Azerbaijan Republic dated May 1, 2015 and the discussion of possible questions. During the meeting, the explanation on new rules was given to responsible persons, the questions were answered and an exchange of views was held in the direction of improving the educational opportunities in Azerbaijan for foreign students.

5,612 out of 17,859 volunteer students from Azerbaijani universities and colleges will participate in the opening and closing ceremonies of the Baku 2015 First European Games and the remaining 12,247 operating volunteers will take part in other events related to the European Games.
The involvement of university and college students in the voluntary activity with the aim of supporting the First European Games leads to expansion of voluntary movement in Azerbaijan. The program named “SABAH’s volunteers”, which was initiated in March 2015, aims to give students an opportunity to improve their social activity, put their knowledge into practice, and improve their management skills and leadership potential by involving them in volunteer activities without being distracted from academic study. A festival entitled “SABAHFest” was held on Wednesday within the framework of "SABAH Volunteer" Program in order to demonstrate the support of volunteers studying at SABAH groups of the Education Ministry for the Baku-2015 first European Games. The festival entitled “SABAHFest” was organized by the Ministry of Education and the Administration of State Historical-Architectural Reserve “Icherisheher” and was held in musical-interactive style. The Celebrity Ambassadors for the Baku 2015 European Games - Murad Dadashov, well-known TV host, and Tunzala Aghayeva, honored artist, attended the festival and the live performances of students studying at SABAH groups were watched at the event. During the festival, the students took part in many interesting quizzes and had the opportunity to get tickets to the sporting events of the European Games. The winners (Ramal Valiyev and Humay Javadzade) of “SABAH Live” and “SABAH Foto” contests, held by "SABAH Volunteer" in order to support the European Games, were awarded at the event. SABAH groups have been organized from Educated, Skilled and Trained students studying at higher education institutions subordinated to the Ministry of Education of Azerbaijan Republic in order to improve the quality of education in higher education, to ensure personnel training in accordance with modern requirements and to create the new environment in the higher education system. Currently, SABAH groups cover 755 students in 34 specialties in 7 higher education institutions (Baku State University, Azerbaijan Architecture and Construction University, Azerbaijan Technical University, Azerbaijan State Economic University, Azerbaijan State Oil Academy, Azerbaijan State Pedagogical University and Azerbaijan University of Languages).

Slovenian, Romanian and Croatian gymnasts, visiting our country to participate in the "Baku 2015" First European Games, are undergoing training at the Baku Gymnastics School of the Ministry of Education.
At sports halls of the school, all conditions were created for foreign athletes, whose total number reaches 50 people, to prepare for the Games. Athletes check their preparations on aerobics, rhythmic gymnastics, men's and women's artistic gymnastics. It should be noted that the students of the Baku Gymnastics School will also participate in the Baku 2015 First European Games. 3 of them will represent our country in acrobatic gymnastics, 1 of them in artistic gymnastics and 1 of them in rhythmic gymnastics.

The acceptance of electronic applications in general educational institutions and vocational lyceums for changing teachers' workplace ended at 23:59 on June 10, 2015.
In the period of admission of e-applications, which lasted 10 days, the applications of 1308 persons (40%) from 3283 people, who applied, were received. 1245 (95%) of them applied for the Azerbaijani sector, 63 (5%) of them for the Russian sector. The majority (68%) of persons, whose applications were accepted, are primary school (21%), Azerbaijani language and literature (15%), Mathematics (12%), history (11%) and English (9%) teachers. The persons not working in general education system, not working as a teacher in secondary schools or working as a teacher on fixed term contract basis, also the persons intended for application of incentive measures at the current workplace are among the people whose applications were canceled. The candidates, whose electronic applications were received, should take part in the test examination held at the 2nd academic building (address: Baku, Hasan Aliyev street 135, near the "Ganjlik" metro station, Azerbaijan Teachers Institute) of Azerbaijan State Economic University on June 16, 2015. The interviews will be held at the same address on June 17, 2015 for teachers who won the right to change the workplace by taking part in the examination. It is possible to become familiar with the necessary legislative documents, the instruction for answering test questions, the test samples and interview program by entering the website www.miq.edu.az. The contest, held on the theme "The best prose, poetry and drama works for young schoolchildren" by the Ministry of Education, continues.
The main goal of the contest is to stimulate writing the literary works, instilling spiritual wealth, patriotism, national and universal values, emotional and cognitive skills in young schoolchildren and contributing to the development of their artistic taste, by taking into account the age psychology. The works submitted to the contest must be prepared as a collection. The number and the total amount of works to be included in collections should be as follows: • A collection of prose works - 15 works (1.5-2 printed pages); • A collection of poetry works - 20 works (1-1.5 printed pages); • A collection of drama works - 5 works (2-2.5 printed pages). The collections presented to the contest should be sent to the Ministry of Education within one month starting from June 1, 2015 together with the printed 3 copies and the electronic version written to disk (in PDF format). It is not allowed to include authors` works, published so far, in the collections. The works in the collections will be reviewed by expert groups and if 12 of prose works, 15 of poetry works and 3 of drama works have been evaluated positively, these collections will be admitted to the competition. The first, second, and third place winners will be awarded 5000, 3000 and 1500 manat respectively in the competition. The collections admitted to the competition will be sent to general education institutions, renowned educators, advanced teachers in an electronic version in order to assess them in accordance with the prize places and will be placed on the website of the Ministry of Education in order to determine public opinion. The Ministry of Education organized a pilot project - a summer camp for the first time on 1-10 June 2015 in the Republican Humanitarian Subjects Gymnasium named after A.S.Makarenko in Shuvalan settlement.
A total of 50 pupils from the Physics, mathematics and information science lyceum and the Republican lyceum with chemistry and biology bias (25 people from each of them) were involved in the camp. The camp was organized in order to create favorable conditions for pupils, completed the academic year with excellent marks, to spend their summer holiday effectively. During this time, in addition to the entertainment and participation in a variety of sports games, children were informed about interesting topics - team building, leadership, presentation skills, public speaking, ecology and other fields. In addition, pupils have made various rockets, robots in 8 lessons on STEM organized by "Engineering for Kids" company and have become direct participants of their practical application, as well as have demonstrated their worldview in intellectual games such as "Debate", "Hamsa", "Brain Ring", "The Da Vinci Code". As a continuation of the theme of ecology, pupils organized subbotniks on the territory of school and made bird-nests and hung them from trees in the area. The regular survey carried out among children, the opinions of parents who had come to visit their children and the final evaluation give reason to say that the organization of the camp gives positive results. As a continuation of the successful pilot project, it is planned to organize the summer camp for other pupils in the future.

IDEA Public Union, the representative office of the World Wildlife Fund for Nature (WWF) in Azerbaijan and the Republican Ecological Training and Experience Center of the Ministry of Education have launched the ecological summer camp entitled "Let's protect gazelles!" within the framework of the "Reintroduction of gazelles to their historical habitat areas in Caucasus" program.
The camp, attended by more than 30 pupils from Gakh and Sheki regions, was organized in Ilisu village of Gakh region on June 10-12. The main goal of the summer camp is to enlighten the younger generation, living in areas considered for reintroduction of gazelles, about this species. The camp participants were informed in detail about the lifestyle of gazelles, the areas inhabited by them and their role in nature. Children also took part in various small ecological studies, quizzes and competitions. It should be noted that the "Reintroduction of gazelles to their historical habitat areas in Caucasus" program has been successfully carried out since 2010 within the framework of joint cooperation with the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources, the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, IDEA Public Union and the representative office of the World Wildlife Fund for Nature (WWF) in Azerbaijan. Over the years, more than 150 heads of gazelles have been reintroduced from Shirvan National Park to their historical habitat areas. The permanent monitoring and protection of gazelles are being implemented in these areas.
