“RoboGames 2022" STEAM competition was held
“The RoboGames 2022” STEAM competition, organized by the Ministry of Science and Education, ADA University, and “Mars Academy”, was held on December 24–25. "RoboGames 2022: Smart City" is a local robotics project competition, organized for the first time for high school students aged 10 to 16. "RoboGames" is an unusual experience that introduces students to real-world scientific and technological problems in a fun environment and enriches students’ worldview by exploring their solutions. The competition was held over 2 days at ADA University with 40 teams, 201 participants, and team leaders from public and private educational institutions. The teams assembled robots programmed to solve the stated “Smart City” missions using special “Lego Mindstorms ev3” kits, and demonstrated creativity by using more efficient resources with digital solutions. On the last day of the event, the teams that demonstrated the importance of new discoveries, fair competition, teamwork, professionalism, cooperation, and friendly competition were chosen as winners. At the end of the event, Vusal Khanlarov, head of the Department of Informatization of the Education System, and Sencer Yeralan, dean of the Faculty of Information Technology and Engineering at ADA University, presented trophies and gifts to the champions.

Meeting with representatives of “Cisco” company
Deputy Minister of Science and Education Mukhtar Mammadov met with representatives of “Cisco” company. The meeting was attended by Dorin Pena, Cisco's Executive Director for Romania and CIS countries, Ramil Eyubov, Cisco's General Director for Azerbaijan, Farid Zeynalov, Cisco's responsible manager for the territory and Vusal Khanlarov, head of the Department of Informatization of the Education System. During the meeting, information was presented on the achievements in the field of education in Azerbaijan within the long-term cooperation with “Cisco” company. At the same time, it was reported that the security of Internet and Intranet services provided to educational institutions, filtering of malicious content is ensured. The meeting discussed the issues of cooperation between the Ministry of Science and Education and “Cisco” company on educational institutions created in the liberated territories, the presentation of the educational laboratory "Cisco DevNet" for Azerbaijani students, and increasing the number of “Cisco” network academies in Azerbaijan. The issues of introduction of new technological solutions into the educational process were also discussed. It should be noted that a total of 4331 educational institutions across the country are provided with access to the intranet and internet by connecting them to the Azerbaijan Educational Network. Of these, 1 235 educational institutions are connected to fiber optic communication channel, 2 008 educational institutions are connected to a wireless LTE network, and 1 088 educational institutions are connected to ADSL. "Cisco" solutions are used in the management and distribution of the network in educational institutions.

Minister of Science and Education meets with representatives of “Microsoft” company
The Minister of Science and Education, Emin Amrullayev, has met with Microsoft officials who are on a visit to our country. The meeting was attended by Mark East, General Manager of “Microsoft” company for Europe, Middle East, and Africa and Albena Spasova, Microsoft’s Education Lead for Central and Eastern Europe. The participants of the meeting expressed their satisfaction with the high-level cooperation between the Ministry of Science and Education and Microsoft during and after the pandemic. In order to continue the cooperation more closely, the parties discussed the possibilities of using artificial intelligence and cloud computing technologies to manage different levels of education and stimulate research. The representatives of “Microsoft” company said they would work more closely with the Ministry of Science and Education to expand joint activities. As part of the visit, representatives of the company took part in “Digital skills classes, got acquainted with “Steam Center” activities, and held meetings with startuppers at the “SABAH.lab Acceleration Center”.

Closing ceremony of the International Festival of Steam Azerbaijan 2022
On December 9, with the support of the Ministry of Science and Education, the Baku Expo Center hosted the closing ceremony of the International Festival of Steam Azerbaijan 2022. The closing ceremony was attended by Emin Amrullayev, Minister of Science and Education, Isa Habibbeyli, president of the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan, Ulvi Mehdiyev, chairman of the State Agency for Citizens' Service and Social Innovations under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, officials from other government agencies, members of the National Assembly, representatives of diplomatic missions, heads of higher education institutions and directors of scientific-research institutes. Minister of Science and Education Emin Amrullayev first greeted the guests and congratulated the winners of the festival. Emin Amrullayev emphasized that the work carried out in our country on the "STEAM Azerbaijan" project was supported by the state at a high level and thanked for this support the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Mr. Ilham Aliyev, and First Vice President, Mrs. Mehriban Aliyeva. Noting that over the past 3 years the project has reached more than 100,000 students, hundreds of schools, the minister added that the STEAM museum, the Steam Innovation Center, will soon begin operating. At the end of his speech, the minister once again congratulated the winners and said that such festivals will be organized regularly. Speaking at the closing ceremony, ANAS President Isa Habibbayli called the STEAM Azerbaijan project an ideal project for the intellectual development of the new generation and congratulated the winners. At the ceremony, the head of the "Steam Azerbaijan" project, Igrar Nazarov, made a report. It was noted that in SAF 2022, 43 teams have won I, 102 teams - II, 108 teams - III places. Then prizes were given to the winning teams. It should be noted that the festival was held from December 5 to 9. A total of about 1,500 participants from 350 teams participated in SAF 2022. 127 of them were foreign participants and 1,300 were local participants. Foreign participants represented Turkey, Great Britain, Sweden, Estonia, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, and Turkmenistan.

Meeting with a delegation from Brandenburg Technical University
On December 8, Minister of Science and Education Emin Amrullayev has met with a delegation from the Brandenburg Technical University of the Federal Republic of Germany. The Minister expressed satisfaction with the current state of cooperation relations between the Technical University of Azerbaijan and the Brandenburg Technical University and stressed the importance of the agreements signed between the two institutions of higher education on dual degree programs at the master's and doctoral level. In his turn, the president of the Brandenburg Technical University expressed an interest in establishing ties of cooperation with higher educational institutions of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

STEAM Azerbaijan festival opening ceremony takes place
The opening ceremony of the International Steam Azerbaijan Festival 2022 was held on 5 December at Baku Expo Centre with the support of the Ministry of Science and Education. The opening ceremony was attended by Deputy Prime Minister Ali Ahmadov, Minister of Science and Education Emin Amrullayev, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the State Examination Center Maleyka Abbaszadeh, officials from other government agencies, members of the National Assembly, heads of media structures, well-known members of the public and other guests. Speaking at the opening ceremony, Minister of Science and Education Emin Amrullayev welcomed the guests and noted that the festival is a prestigious and significant event in the field of education. Speaking about the Steam Project, the minister noted that the project is the first step toward further education in Azerbaijan. Emin Amrullayev noted that the main purpose of Steam education is to prepare the next generation for new challenges. In his speech, the Minister of Science and Education, emphasizing the support of more than 250 "BIR"(“ONE”) student volunteers in the organization of the festival, congratulated each of them on December 5 - International Volunteer Day. At the end of his speech, the minister thanked everyone who contributed to the organization of the festival and wished the participants success. In his speech at the festival, the head of the project "Steam Azerbaijan," Igrar Nazarov, spoke in detail about the project and the festival. Igrar Nazarov said that now the Steam project covers 318 schools and 100,305 students all over the country, and 22 Steam centers are functioning. He noted that by 2026, the number of students in the project is planned to reach 280 thousand. Noting the difference between SAF 2022 and SAF 2021, Igrar Nazarov said that 1,312 people in 350 teams participated in this year's festival, of which 127 teams represented 7 foreign countries. It was noted that SAF 2022 will be held in 10 categories, such as "VEX IQ" and "VEX V5", "Robotics," "Lego," "Search and Rescue" (10-14, 15-18 years old), "Hackathon" (High school), "Hackathon" (general education schools), "Dream World” (elementary school), "Robokids" (elementary school), "Mechatronics," and "Learning Drones." Based on applications from the UK, Sweden, Turkey, Turkmenistan, Estonia, Uzbekistan, and Kazakhstan, teams from these countries were secured to participate in the festival in various categories. Specialists from France, Israel, Norway, China, and Turkey were invited as judges to evaluate the team's performance in the competition. An exhibition of “Innovative projects" was also organized at SAF 2022. It should be noted that the festival will last until December 9. The purpose of the festival is to support STEAM-based education, nurture 21st century skills among students, identify and network creative, digitally savvy students, and research international experience in innovation and digitalization.

The purpose of the festival is to support STEAM-based education, nurture 21st century skills among students, identify and network creative, digitally savvy students, and research international experience in innovation and digitalization.

International STEAM Azerbaijan Festival 2022 Starts on 5 December, 2022
The International STEAM Azerbaijan Festival 2022 (SAF 2022) will be held at the Baku Expo Center on December 5-9, 2022, within the STEAM Azerbaijan project and with the support of the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan. The purpose of the festival is to support STEAM-based education, nurture 21st century skills among students, identify and network creative, digital tech-savvy students, and research international experience in innovation and digitalization. SAF 2022 is organized in the format of a competition in 10 categories, as well as in the format of an exhibition of cutting-edge innovations projects in 1 category. More than 1300 participants from Azerbaijan and 7 other countries will immerse in sharp competition, learning, and fun. All general education and higher education (public, private, etc.) students from every district and city in the country, as well as international students, are eligible to compete in numerous categories in the form of the teams. Along with the students from other educational institutions, applications are accepted from vocational, secondary, extracurricular educational institutions, independently, for the category of "Exhibition of creative projects" conducted within the festival.

Meeting of Ministers of Education from the Non-Aligned Movement member states kicks off
On November 29, the Ministry of Science and Education hosted an online meeting of the ministers of education from member states of the Non-Aligned Movement. In his opening remarks at the meeting, Minister of Science and Education Emin Amrullayev informed participants about steps taken to ensure the continuity of education in our country during the pandemic, the activities implemented, and achievements gained in the field of education towards the Sustainable Development Goals. Stefania Giannini, UNESCO's Assistant Director General for Education, Andreas Schleicher, Special Advisor on Education Policy and Director of Education and Skills at the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, and Ministers of Education from member states of the Non-Aligned Movement spoke at the event, describing the challenges facing education and sharing their experiences with regard to ongoing innovations in the field of education. During the meeting, Ordukhan Gahramanzadeh, head of the youth organization of the Non-Aligned Movement, also spoke and informed the participants in detail about the activities of the organization.

The International Student Forum has come to an end
The International Student Forum on "Youth, Peace, and Security" dedicated to the “Year of Shusha” was organized on November 23–28 by "One Volunteer" Students Cooperation Public Union with the support of the Education Development Fund and the Azerbaijan Youth Foundation. The forum consisted of 5 panel discussions and covered specific topics. The forum included presentations and discussions on "Post-Conflict Reconstruction: Reconstruction, Reconciliation, and Peace-building," "Post-Conflict Statistics: Safe and Dignified Return and Reintegration of Internally Displaced Persons," "Post-War situation: Peace, Security, and Stability in the South Caucasus and other regions," "Sustainable Peace, Sustainable Development, and Cooperation," and "Reporting from Conflict Areas: The Role of Media in Establishing Peace." As part of the forum, students paid a 1-day visit to Shusha on November 26. During the visit, students became acquainted with the severe consequences of the occupation, the destroyed settlements, and cultural and historical specimens in the territories liberated from occupation. It should be noted that the forum was attended by 40 foreign and 10 local students studying at the leading universities in the world from 30 countries in the specialties such as "International relations," "International law," "Diplomacy," and other related specialties selected by the special commission.
