On the 9th of June, the Minister of Education Emin Amrullayev met with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Czech Republic Milan Ekert, who is completing his mission in our country.   During the meeting, the current state and prospects of cooperation between the Ministries of Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Czech Republic in the field of education were discussed.   The parties praised the provision of "Merkur construction kits" to schools in Garavelli, Meisari, Muganli, Gizmeydan and Angakharan villages of Shamakhi district as part of the "Aid to Development" project, as well as the repair work carried out at a secondary school named after Rajabov in Kareveli village of Shamakhi district as part of the "Ensuring energy efficiency" project. Both projects were implemented within the framework of cooperation with the Czech Republic in the field of education.

On May 29, there was an awarding ceremony for the teams that won the second and third places in the competitions held as part of "TEKNOFEST Azerbaijan" festival. The Minister of Education Emin Amrullayev awarded the prize to the “Metaverse” team from Ganja FRITL and “SUM Builders” from school № 81 of Baku, that won the second and third places in category A of the “Baku Skills” competitions within the festival. It should be noted that within the framework of «TEKNOFEST Azerbaijan” festival, 8 contests were organized among high school and university students and startups – “Baku Skills”, “Unmanned Aerial Vehicles”, “Robotics”, “AgroTech”, “Social Innovations”, “Amateur Satellite Modeling”, “GLIDER” and “Green Technologies”. Competitions were held among the participants in 3 categories. More than 1000 teams, formed of more than 5 thousand young people, applied for participation in the competitions.

The opening ceremony of our country's first festival, “TEKNOFEST Azerbaijan”, took place on May 26.   At the opening ceremony, the Minister of Education Emin Amrullayev familiarized himself with the stands where the Ministry of Education is represented. During the familiarization with the stands, the Minister in a conversation with students and pupils noted that it was encouraging that they took part in this festival with great interest.   Emin Amrullayev expressed the hope that the festival will serve as a bridge to the historical achievements of our youth related to the development of digital technology, and thanked the organizers.   It should be noted that the Ministry of Education was represented at the festival by “Baku Skills” competition, organized by the STEAM project for schoolchildren and students, projects presented by a number of higher educational institutions, and 3 projects reflecting the activities of the Ministry of Education of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic.

On May 25, Seljuk Bayraktar, technological manager of “Bayrak” company and chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Technology Team Foundation, was awarded the title of honorary doctor of the Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU).   The event was attended by Deputy Minister of Education Firudin Gurbanov, Turkish Ambassador to Azerbaijan Jahid Bagchi, heads of various ministries of the two countries, professors and students of the Azerbaijan Technical University.   Speaking at the event, Deputy Minister of Education Firudin Gurbanov said that development of a person is directly related to his/her mastery of science and education. In this sense, it was Bayraktar's mastery of science and education that introduced him to the world. Speaking about the attention paid to the development of defense industry in Azerbaijan, Firudin Gurbanov noted that training of highly qualified personnel in this direction is also an important condition. The deputy minister said that AzTU is currently the only university in the region that trains personnel for the defense industry. Firudin Gurbanov also said that in recent years AzTU has established a high level of cooperation with leading universities, research and innovation centers of Turkey.   Then Seljuk Bayraktar, a guest of honor at AzTU, met with students. Stressing the importance of the development of the defense industry for the country, Bayraktar informed the students about the modern technologies he had developed, as well as his new projects and research works.    Then there was a ceremony of awarding Seljuk Bayraktar the title of honorary doctor of the Technical University of Azerbaijan. Rector of AzTU Vilayat Valiyev presented the guest with a diploma of honorary doctor. The rector noted that only 15 people have been awarded the title of honorary doctor of AzTU so far, and Seljuk Bayraktar is the youngest honorary doctor of AzTU. Vilayat Valiev emphasized Seljuk Bayraktar's research for the technological future on a digital platform, his invaluable contribution to the development of science and technology and thanked him for meeting with AzTU students.   After the event, Seljuk Bayraktar familiarized himself in the lobby of the university with an exhibition of handicrafts of AzTU teams, which will participate in the festival "TEKNOFEST Azerbaijan".   At the end of the ceremony, participants were photographed.

The European Physics Olympiad was held in the Slovenian capital of Ljubljana.   Our students successfully performed at the Olympiad and won 4 bronze medals and one "Encouragement Prize". Thus, Eshgin Aliyev, an 11th-grade student of the Lyceum named after Academician Zarifa Aliyeva under the Ministry of Education, Sadig Sadihzadeh, a 10th-grade student of the physics-mathematics and informatics biased Lyceum under the Ministry of Education, Rafsan Habibullayev, an 11th grade student of "Young Talents" lyceum under the Baku State University, Vagif Aliyev, an 11th grade student of Baku Technical and Humanitarian Lyceum No. 147, won a bronze medal.  Nijat Abbasov, a 10th grade student at the Turkish Solidarity Foundation Baku Turkish Lyceum, received an encouragement prize.    We congratulate our students and wish them further success.

A delegation led by Minister of Education Emin Amrullayev continues to attend the World Education Forum, traditionally held from the 22nd  to the 25th of May 2022 in London, UK.   The Minister of Education addressed the 7th plenary session of the Forum on the theme "How we can successfully build the society we hope for" and briefed the participants of the Forum on the activities carried out in the field of education in our country.   During his visit, the Azerbaijani Minister of Education held a working meeting with Baroness Emma Nicholson, Trade Envoy of the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland to Azerbaijan. During the meeting, they discussed the current state and future prospects of cooperation between the two countries in the field of education.

The World Education Forum, organised under the theme "Let's build together a stronger, better educated and more advanced future for our countries and communities", has begun its work. The forum, which will be held in London with the participation of 112 ministers from 107 countries, will discuss the main challenges facing global education in 2022 and how to address them.   The forum will also explore ways to achieve peace, partnership and prosperity through education and the creation of successful economies. Sessions will focus on equal access to education, economic growth, the use of artificial intelligence and the importance of technology and data-driven decision-making for society. Public-private partnerships, individual and collective response mechanisms and finding local solutions to global challenges will also be on the agenda of the general education discussions.   The forum will include nine plenary sessions. The topics such as "How to respond to the world's newest challenges?", "How to increase the efficiency of resources and their use in education?", "How to build collaborative and better education?", "Education. How can we build big institutions and development agencies? "How can we more successfully nurture the citizens and society we hope for?" and "How can we accelerate collaborative innovation?" will be discussed at panel sessions.   It should be noted that our country is represented at the World Education Forum by a delegation headed by the Minister of Education Emin Amrullayev.

The Azerbaijani Minister of Education Emin Amrullayev is on a working visit to London to participate in the World Education Forum.   As part of his visit, the Minister of Education met with the State program scholarship recipients at the Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the UK on May 22. During the meeting the Minister of Education provided information on the activities carried out by the Ministry of Education and held a useful exchange of views on various areas of education.   At the same time, Emin Amrullayev received detailed information about the educational activities of our citizens participating at the meeting, the research work of doctoral students, their experiences at the universities where they study, and the knowledge they have gained.
