    Azərbaycan SSR Xalq Komissarları Sovetinin 28 aprel 1920-ci il tarixli qərarı ilə Xalq Maarifi Nazirliyinin adı dəyişdirilərək Xalq Maarifi Komissarlığı adı ilə yenidən təşkil edilib və ölkədəki bütün təhsil müəssisələri bu qurumun tabeliyinə verilib.

SAF 2022 kicks off

On December 5, the International STEAM Azerbaijan Festival 2022 (SAF 2022) kicked off at the Baku Expo Center with the support of the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan.   SAF 2022 was organized in the format of a competition in 10 categories, as well as in the format of an exhibition of innovative projects in one category.   A total of 1,312 people from 350 teams participated in SAF 2022. Of these, 127 were foreign countries and 442 were local participants. Foreign participants represent Turkey, Great Britain, Sweden, Estonia, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, and Turkmenistan.   The purpose of the festival is to support STEAM-based education, nurture 21st century skills among students, identify and network creative, digitally savvy students, and research international experience in innovation and digitalization.

International STEAM Azerbaijan Festival 2022 Starts on 5 December, 2022

The International STEAM Azerbaijan Festival 2022 (SAF 2022) will be held at the Baku Expo Center on December 5-9, 2022, within the STEAM Azerbaijan project and with the support of the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan. The purpose of the festival is to support STEAM-based education, nurture 21st century skills among students, identify and network creative, digital tech-savvy students, and research international experience in innovation and digitalization. SAF 2022 is organized in the format of a competition in 10 categories, as well as in the format of an exhibition of cutting-edge innovations projects in 1 category. More than 1300 participants from Azerbaijan and 7 other countries will immerse in sharp competition, learning, and fun. All general education and higher education (public, private, etc.) students from every district and city in the country, as well as international students, are eligible to compete in numerous categories in the form of the teams. Along with the students from other educational institutions, applications are accepted from vocational, secondary, extracurricular educational institutions, independently, for the category of "Exhibition of creative projects" conducted within the festival.

Meeting of Ministers of Education from the Non-Aligned Movement member states kicks off

On November 29, the Ministry of Science and Education hosted an online meeting of the ministers of education from member states of the Non-Aligned Movement.   In his opening remarks at the meeting, Minister of Science and Education Emin Amrullayev informed participants about steps taken to ensure the continuity of education in our country during the pandemic, the activities implemented, and achievements gained in the field of education towards the Sustainable Development Goals.   Stefania Giannini, UNESCO's Assistant Director General for Education, Andreas Schleicher, Special Advisor on Education Policy and Director of Education and Skills at the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, and Ministers of Education from member states of the Non-Aligned Movement spoke at the event, describing the challenges facing education and sharing their experiences with regard to ongoing innovations in the field of education.   During the meeting, Ordukhan Gahramanzadeh, head of the youth organization of the Non-Aligned Movement, also spoke and informed the participants in detail about the activities of the organization.

The International Student Forum has come to an end

The International Student Forum on "Youth, Peace, and Security" dedicated to the “Year of Shusha” was organized on November 23–28 by "One Volunteer" Students Cooperation Public Union with the support of the Education Development Fund and the Azerbaijan Youth Foundation.   The forum consisted of 5 panel discussions and covered specific topics. The forum included presentations and discussions on "Post-Conflict Reconstruction: Reconstruction, Reconciliation, and Peace-building," "Post-Conflict Statistics: Safe and Dignified Return and Reintegration of Internally Displaced Persons," "Post-War situation: Peace, Security, and Stability in the South Caucasus and other regions," "Sustainable Peace, Sustainable Development, and Cooperation," and "Reporting from Conflict Areas: The Role of Media in Establishing Peace."   As part of the forum, students paid a 1-day visit to Shusha on November 26. During the visit, students became acquainted with the severe consequences of the occupation, the destroyed settlements, and cultural and historical specimens in the territories liberated from occupation.   It should be noted that the forum was attended by 40 foreign and 10 local students studying at the leading universities in the world from 30 countries in the specialties such as "International relations,"  "International law,"  "Diplomacy," and other related specialties selected by the special commission.

Visit of Azerbaijani Minister of Science and Education to Uzbekistan ends

Minister of Science and Education Emin Amrullayev met with the Minister of Preschool Education of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Agrippina Shin, as part of his visit to Uzbekistan. The parties discussed the exchange of experience and possible prospects for cooperation in the field of preschool education.   As part of the international conference on "Early Childhood Care and Education," the Minister met with Amanda Devercelli, the Global Lead for Early Childhood Development at the World Bank. The prospects for further development of bilateral cooperation in the field of education were discussed at the meeting.   It should be noted that Emin Amrullayev's visit to Uzbekistan on November 14–16 has ended.

Minister of Science and Education holds meetings in Uzbekistan

The Minister of Science and Education Emin Amrullayev as part of his visit to Uzbekistan met with the Minister of Higher and Secondary Specialized Education of this country Abdukodir Tashkulov. The parties discussed the exchange of experience in the field of higher and secondary specialized education, direct cooperation between educational institutions of the two countries and other issues.   Emin Amrullayev also met with UNICEF Regional Director for Central Asia and Europe, Afshan Khan, as part of the international conference on "Early Childhood Care and Education."   During the meeting, the Minister noted the successful implementation of the project on "Development of community-based preschool education." At the same time, the parties discussed prospects for cooperation in other areas of mutual interest.

Minister of Science and Education addresses an international conference

The Minister of Science and Education Emin Amrullayev spoke at a high-level session on policy, management, and finance organized as part of the international conference on "Early Childhood Care and Education" in Tashkent, the capital of the Republic of Uzbekistan.   In his speech, the Minister informed the participants of the event about the activities implemented and successes achieved in increasing the comprehensiveness and quality of preschool education in Azerbaijan. Emin Amrullayev stressed the importance of international cooperation as well as the exchange of experience in these areas.

Emin Amrullayev meets with the Minister of Public Education of Uzbekistan

The Minister of Science and Education Emin Amrullayev, who is on a visit to Uzbekistan, met with Minister of Public Education of this country Bakhtiyar Saidov.   During the meeting, the parties discussed the development of cooperation in the field of general education, the implementation of exchange programs for students and teachers, and the organization of presentations among schoolchildren related to the history and common values of the two countries, including increasing the number of fraternal schools.   The Minister of Science and Education shared the achievements of our country in the field of education in recent years, as well as STEAM and digital skills, and Azerbaijan's experience related to the participation of students in international assessment programs (PISA, PIRLS, TIMSS).   The Minister expressed his satisfaction with the upcoming participation of Uzbek students in the STEAM festival, which will be held in our country from December 5 to 9, 2022.   At the same time, Emin Amrullayev expressed gratitude for the Uzbek government's initiative to build a school in the Fizuli district, which had been liberated from occupation. 

Minister of Science and Education is on a visit to Uzbekistan

A delegation led by the Minister of Science and Education Emin Amrullayev is in Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan, to participate in an international conference on "Early Childhood Care and Education," organized by UNESCO.   The purpose of the event, attended by more than 1,500 participants from different countries, is to share the experiences of UNESCO member states to ensure the comprehensiveness and development of pre-school education.   As part of the conference, Minister of Science and Education Emin Amrullayev is scheduled to participate in a high-level session, bilateral meetings with the leadership of UNESCO, as well as with relevant government agencies implementing the educational policy in Uzbekistan.

Minister of Science and Education meets with the newly appointed ambassador of Hungary to the Republic of Azerbaijan

On November 11, Minister of Science and Education Emin Amrullayev has met with the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Hungary to the Republic of Azerbaijan  Mr.Tamás Jozsef Torma.   The minister thanked the ambassador for the educational scholarship that the Hungarian government allocated to citizens of the Republic of Azerbaijan within the “Stipendium Hungaricum” and expressed satisfaction with the current state of cooperation between the higher educational institutions of the two countries.   During the meeting, the parties discussed the prospects for further cooperation.
