The graduates of the sports schools of the Ministry of Education achieved great success in the judo competitions in the 13th European Youth Olympic Festival "Tbilisi 2015" held in Georgia.

The competitions, organized in different kinds of sports, were attended by about 2500 young athletes from 50 countries. Shafaq Hamidova, graduate of Sumgait city Children's and Youth Sports School no. 2, became the winner among girls in 40 kg weight category. In the final, she defeated the Russian athlete and won the gold medal. Ibrahim Bayramli, graduate of the Specialized Children-Youth Sports School of Olympic Reserves No. 13, won the 3rd place and the bronze medal among boys in 50 kg weight category.

The volunteers, studying in SABAH groups of the Ministry of Education, functioned in the 13th European Youth Olympic Festival "Tbilisi 2015" held in Tbilisi, Georgia.

The festival, held with the participation of more than 3800 athletes from 50 countries competing in 9 sports, officials of the National Olympic Committees and experts, was attended by 5 volunteers who joined the "SABAH Volunteer" program. During the festival, the volunteers functioned in the Athletes Village and had the opportunity to converse with the journalists, guests, members of the European Olympic Committee and athletes. The young people, working in a multicultural environment, functioned in the groups of friends and witnessed the performances of athletes, as well as provided support to the athletes representing our country. In addition, the volunteers took part in the opening and closing ceremonies of the European Youth Olympic Festival. At the end of the festival, the award ceremony for volunteers was held. 

The competition for the recruitment of teachers to general education institutions and vocational lyceums has ended.

18573 people have participated in the competitive examination for the recruitment of teachers. 2212 people have achieved good results, have won the right to take up a vacant post and have been invited for an interview. According to the results of the interview, it has been decided to hire 1892 people. The most preferred vacancies among candidates are as follows: 345 seats in Baku, 83 seats in Jalilabad region, 71 seats in Lerik region. Many jobs have been taken up on the following subjects: 335 seats for primary school, 206 seats for geography, 156 seats for chemistry. The teachers, whose recruitment has been assented, will begin their teaching activities by submitting documents to the relevant schools starting from September 1. The additional placement process will be conducted from August 5 to 10 for the vacant positions that have not been taken up in accordance with the rules and have been refused. The candidates, reaching a passing score in the examinations but failing to take up a vacant post, as well as refusing to accept a new position, can participate in the additional placement process. 

The Azerbaijani team achieved success in the "Microsoft Imagine Cup 2015" competition held in Redmond, USA.

The Azerbaijani team, consisting of Nizami Ismailov, Arif Movsumzade, Fidan and Ulviyya Rustamova, the students of Baku State University and Khazar University, won second place in the category of "Innovation" in the competition. The competition, attended by 33 teams from different countries, was held in three categories: “World Citizenship”, “Games” and “Innovation”. Azerbaijani "NoObs' team, participating for the first time in this competition, submitted the project "Spinal", which is considered a software for "Bluetooth-regulators" set, as well as for the Windows Phone smartphones, creating the habit of sitting down and standing up without body bending. The project won second place in the category of "Innovation". The first, second and third place winners gained a grant in the amount of 50, 10 and 5 thousand dollars from the "Microsoft" company for the further development of the project. It should be noted that Azerbaijani "NoObs' team became the winner of the "Imagine Cup" local qualifying round, held by the Microsoft Azerbaijan Company jointly with the Ministry of Education, the "High Technology Park" under the Ministry of Communications and High Technologies and "Nar Mobile" network operator.

151 educational institutions, covering Baku, Sumgait, Mingachevir cities and Shamkir, Gabala, Ujar, Bilasuvar, Samukh, Gakh, Zagatala, Oguz, Agsu, Tovuz regions, have joined the Azerbaijan Educational Network (AEN) in the last 5 months.

All works, carried out in accordance with the "Action Plan" related to the implementation of the “State Strategy on development of education in the Azerbaijan Republic”, create conditions for the establishment of a more effective learning process and ensure the transfer of the positive experience in education, regardless of distance. 1971 educational institutions have joined the Azerbaijan Educational Network (AEN) so far. The educational institutions, joined the Network, have been provided with high-speed Internet and their coordination with each other and the agencies of the Ministry of Education within the Network have been ensured. The teachers and pupils of schools in remote areas have had the opportunity to use electronic resources over the network. Access has been limited to web sites deemed harmful to schoolchildren through the internet filtering system of the "Websense" program used in the AEN. At the same time, 1800 desktop computers, 806 laptops, 245 projectors and 111 interactive electronic boards have been distributed throughout the country with the aim of providing ICT equipment to educational institutions in March-July 2015. New equipment is given to the teaching staff and administrative personnel members, who achieved good results in the trainings held to improve literacy in the field of information and communication technologies.

On July 31, Mikayil Jabbarov, Minister of Education, received citizens living in Oguz, Sheki, Gakh, Zagatala, Balaken and Gabala regions at Oguz Olympic Sports Complex.

In the reception, held in accordance with citizens` reception schedule of heads of central executive authorities for July, 2015 in the town and regions, the citizens mostly appealed on recruiting teachers or changing workplace from one school to another or from one region to another, restoration to the work, recognition of the education documents, transfer of the students of higher and secondary specialized schools from one education institution to another, tuition fee and other issues. Appeals of 45 citizens were heard and most of issues were settled operatively in the reception. Relevant bodies of the Ministry were tasked related to several appeals. The citizens` appeals, having a personal character and not being within the competence of Ministry of Education, were registered and taken under control in order to be delivered to the relevant bodies.

Students of SABAH groups participated in the international event.

Within the framework of the project “Active Volunteers - Better citizens”, the students, studying in SABAH groups of the Ministry of Education, were represented in the delegation visited Bulgaria. The project, implemented in partnership with Erasmus + and Human Resource Development Centre (HRDC), was attended by active young people of Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Georgia, Moldova, Latvia and Estonia, and representatives of youth organizations of these countries. The purpose of the project is to increase the level of activeness of youth, to raise awareness of volunteering and to instill the values of volunteering in young people. The trainings, based on the methodology of non-formal education within the framework of the project, covered the development trends of young people's social, communicative and language skills, as well as opportunities for activity in intercultural collaborative environment. The presentation on the voluntary activity of students of SABAH groups in Azerbaijan was featured in the event. During the presentation, highly appreciated by the participants, more detailed information was provided for participants about the philosophy of volunteerism in our country during the Baku-2015 First European Games, as well as about "SABAH Volunteer" Program. In the next few days, the participants took part in the meeting with Andrew Novakov, the representative of the European Parliament. During the meeting, Andrew Novakov spoke about his voluntary activity and shared his success stories with the participants. The logos were prepared and demonstrated by the participating countries within the framework of the project. The cultural evening was also held within the framework of the event. During the cultural evening, the Azerbaijani folk dances and the most reputed dishes of Azerbaijani cuisine were demonstrated. It should be noted that "SABAH volunteer" program plays a significant role in increasing the social activity and applying knowledge to practice, as well as developing management skills and leadership potential of students without leaving the academic training and by involving students in voluntary activity. SABAH groups have been organized from Educated, Skilled and Trained students studying at higher education institutions under the Ministry of Education of Azerbaijan Republic in order to improve the quality of education in higher education, to ensure personnel training in accordance with modern requirements and to create the new environment in the higher education system. Currently, SABAH groups cover 755 students in 39 specialties in 7 higher education institutions (Baku State University, Azerbaijan Architecture and Construction University, Azerbaijan Technical University, Azerbaijan State Economic University, Azerbaijan State Oil Academy, Azerbaijan State Pedagogical University and Azerbaijan University of Languages). 

The scope of the base institutions of higher education and the different specialties on SABAH groups expands.

So, starting from the next academic year, 4 education institutions (Baku Music Academy, Azerbaijan State University of Culture and Arts, Azerbaijan State Academy of Arts and Baku Slavic University) will be included among 7 base institutions of higher education. This is due to the increasing number of specialties on SABAH groups. In the past academic year, admission to SABAH groups was carried out on 5 specialty groups, but now their number has increased to 6. A total of 1636 students will receive education in SABAH groups in the new academic year. 755 of them are students admitted to SABAH groups in the past academic year and the remaining 881 persons are the newly admitted students. It should be noted that SABAH groups began operating in the academic year 2014-2015. At the initial stage, personnel training was conducted on 39 specialties in SABAH groups, established in 7 higher education institutions. The total number of specialties will be 45 in the current year.

The competition for the recruitment of teachers continues.

The examination has been conducted on 14 subjects within the framework of a week-long competition. A total of 12 076 people have participated in these exams. The specialty exams in primary school, music, fine art, technology will be held from July 27 to 29. According to the results of the examinations conducted so far, 1 733 people have won the right to take up a vacant post chosen by them and have been admitted to the interview stage of the competition. 186 of them are teachers of Azerbaijani language and literature, 138 of them are English language teachers, 39 of them are Russian language teachers, 5 of them are teachers of Russian language and literature, 9 of them are German language teachers, 10 of them are French language teachers, 145 of them are mathematics teachers, 153 of them are computer science teachers, 144 of them are physics teachers, 185 of them are chemistry teachers, 149 of them are biology teachers, 261 of them are geography teachers, 152 of them are history teachers, 157 of them are physical education teachers. The interview stage will be held from July 30 to August 3 upon completion of the examinations. According to the results of the competition, the additional placement process will be carried out for the vacant positions after August 5. The candidates, reaching a passing score but failing to take up a vacant post, can participate in the additional placement process.
