Republican sport center Tehsil held the Regional Chess Competition of Republican Championship among students of chess departments of Chess schools for children and young people and Sports Schools for children and young people under Ministry of Education. About 800 boys and girls of the six age categories took part in the competition. Boys and girls who took   I, II and  III places in their age categories got right to participate in the final of the Championship. The winners were awarded with diplomas and medals. It should be noticed, that winner of each age categories of the Final  Championship will get the right to participate in the World Championship among school children in 2016, and second prize winner will get the right to participate in European Championship.

The Republican Center of Ecological Education and Experience under Ministry of Education together with members of Ecoclub held an action dedicated to the World Paper Free Day. Young ecologist from secondary schools of Baku were offered to create and to implement mini projects on economic use of natural recourses, collection of paper waste, effective paper use and its recycling.  School children prepared projects and organized enlightening work among their peers and collected paper wastes. The initiative first came from students of 42 Baku European Lyceum Djamile Karimzade, Kovsar Ibragimova, Mariam Imamalieva and Ayan Alieva. Together with their classmates they collected 35 kg paper for recycling and donated it to ASAN receiving point. We remind that the 22 of October is celebrating all over the World as the  World Paper Free Day.  The initiator of this event was International Association of the Free Professionals united 70000 specialists from 150 countries in information management sphere. In this Day people all around the world share their experience on reducing paper use in offices and industry. The campaign’s aim is to show as by using e-documents to use paper more effective and environment friendly way.

The 43 Exhibition of Children Visual Arts took place in Lidice in Czech Republic. The Exhibition is dedicated to the International Year of Light and Light Technologies. Pupils from 71 countries  took part in the Exhibition dedicated to natural and artificial light sources in the environment, opticals, discoveries, using light as an energy source, its role in visual arts, folklore and mankind life. Drawings were evaluated by the jury consisted of 16 Czech and 8 teachers and artists from different countries.  51 members of Fine Art Gallery of Child-Youth Creativity Palace named after Tofig Ismayilov  from 5 to 16years  sent their works to the the 43 Exhibition of Children Visual Arts   Among  21380  art works were chosen works of three young artists. The works will be presented in the Gallery of Lidice, Czech Republic till the end of October.   The Azerbaijani winners were invited to the Embassy of Czech Republic  in  the Republic of Azerbaijan and received Honorable Diplomas and gifts from the Ambassador Vitezslav Pivonka. It should be noted that the event was organized by UNESCO in the frames of International Year of Light and Light Technologies  announced by UN General Assembly.

In the 21 of October the Media tour to the Training Center for Olympiad was held. The Center was opened in the Lyceum  with physics, mathematics and computer science bias under the Ministry of Education.    Journalists were informed that the similar Center is opened in the Lyceum with chemistry and biology bias under the Ministry Education.  To ensure successful performance of Azerbaijani pupils on International Olympiads on subjects   both centers are provided with material technical base needed to prepare pupils on the high level. Pupils are also provided with meals and if it is necessary with place in campus at public expense.  Taking in account the importance of reviling talented pupils at subject Olympiads and intellectual contests  some important steps were taken. Last year more than 22 thousands pupils took part in republican subject Olympiads, that is in 4,5 times more than in the previous year. This year Azerbaijan has taken 48th place among 105 countries on International Olympiad on math, and on the World Olympiads on subjects our pupils took 1 silver and 8 bronze medals.   During the tour were stressed that at the qualifying round  20-25 pupils of VI-VIII classes and 15-20 pupils IX-XI classes were selected for training in the Center. Pupils started trainings in the Centers on physics, mathematics, chemistry, biology and computer science on special programs.  During the academic year they will pass exams and the results of the exams will reveal  who will present our country on  International Olympiads. However, pupils will be involved in winter and summer Olympiad schools during winter and summer holidays. Mass media agents took part in lessons on physics and mathematics, and examined the conditions at the campus.

The main purpose of qualifying round is to identify candidates-pupils, who would represent Azerbaijan at the International subject Olympiads in 2016, to carry out preparatory work with them throughout the academic year and to ensure a more successful performance of pupils at the International Olympiads. More than 300 pupils from several regions of Azerbaijan demonstrated their knowledge at the qualifying round which was held among 6-8th grade students. According to the results of the round, 20-25 pupils were chosen for each subject. Thus, the preparatory work was carried out with nearly 100 pupils from classes VI-VIII, who distinguished themselves by their talents and hard work, on the basis of a special program during the academic year. At the end of the academic year 2015-2016, these pupils are expected to take part in several international subject competitions. More than 500 pupils participated in the qualifying round which was held among 9-11th grade students. According to the results of this round, 15-20 pupils were chosen for each subject. The pupils, who will be involved in the preparatory courses to be conducted on the basis of a special program during the academic year, will pass exams at certain times of the year. According to the results of exams, members of the team will be determined by the end of the year. However, pupils will be involved in winter and summer Olympiad schools during winter and summer holidays. Furthermore, it was planned to hold Subject competitions in all cities and regions of the country in order to enhance Azerbaijani schoolchildren`s interest in subjects, to identify talented and hard-working pupils, to instill in them a sense of healthy competition, to motivate pupils to participate in the Olympiads. Subject competitions will be held among 7-8th grade students in physics, chemistry, biology and mathematics. The pupils wishing to participate in the Computer Science competition should be registered on website (www.informatika.edu.az) and must solve the computer science questions presented on the website.

The awareness campaigns were held among schoolchildren within the framework of the "World Space Week". Within the framework of the "World Space Week", specialists in astrophysics gave interesting lectures on space and astronomy to 300 pupils, studying at secondary schools in Baku and Sumgait, and to Circle members of the Ecological Training and Experience Centers. In addition, students of higher education institutions also participated in the awareness campaigns. Films relating to the theme were featured and interactive discussions were held. The Astronomy Night was held at “Gala” State Historical and Ethnographic Reserve with the participation of schoolchildren and the starry sky was observed through telescopes. "National Geographic" magazines and other gifts were presented to the participants of the event, which was free of charge. The Astronomy Corner, organized in Park Bulvar within the framework of the "World Space Week", was met with a great interest by the residents of the capital. The measures, implemented within the framework of the "World Space Week", which is celebrated every year around the world by the United Nations, were realized in partnership with the Republican Ecological Training and Experience Center of the Ministry of Education, the Center for Development of Science, Tusi-Bohm Planetarium and the organization "Ecosphere".

The teenage judo fighters of the Specialized Olympic Reserves Child-Youth Sports School No.13 of the Ministry of Education successfully returned from the international tournaments. More than 1200 athletes from 25 countries participated in the tournament, which was held in Warsaw, Poland. Our country was represented by 12 judo fighters of the Specialized Olympic Reserves Child-Youth Sports School No.13 in the competition. Chingiz Fattahov won the third place and was awarded a bronze medal in 46 kg weight category, Akbar Guliyev and Ilgar Habilov took the third place and won a bronze medal in 55 kg weight category in the tournament. After the tournament, Azerbaijani judo fighters attended the 3-day training-coaching session, held under the leadership of Waldemar Legien, Olympic and World Champion. Another international tournament was held in Irkutsk, Russia. This competition was attended by 250 athletes from 12 countries. Among the judo fighters representing the Republic of Azerbaijan, Tofig Mammadov and Pasha Aliyev won the first place and were awarded a gold medal in 60 kg and 73 kg weight categories respectively.

On October 13, presentation of the new project on staff training for a specialty of Hotel administrator was held at the Baku vocational lyceum No.5. The event was attended by Firudin Gurbanov, Deputy Minister of Education, Elizabeth White, director of the British Council in Azerbaijan, Marc Ehler, Managing Director of Absheron Hotel Group. The main objective of the project conducted jointly by the Ministry of Education, "British Council" and Absheron Hotel Group is to implement a new program on a specialty of Hotel administrator at the Baku vocational lyceum No.5. This program will enable to enhance the capacity of teachers, to prepare the curriculum in line with national standards and qualifications, to carry out experience programs based on the development of practical skills of pupils. Within the framework of the project, comprising state-business cooperation, pupils will do an internship during their study. Specialists from the UK will be involved in the process of preparing the trainings and curricula, designed for teachers. A pilot project, implemented with the participation of the parties representing the private sector, will be used as a model for the institutions of primary vocational-professional education in Azerbaijan. It was planned to implement the modern educational programs on a 1-year specialty of Hotel administrator in the academic year 2016-2017 at the Baku vocational lyceum No.5 in order to ensure the sustainability of the project.

The ecological project "Let`s protect forests from fire" of young foresters, who participated in the contest at the invitation of Federal Forestry Agency of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Ecology of the Russian Federation and with the organizational support of the Republican Ecological Training and Experience Center of the Ministry of Education of Azerbaijan Republic, was qualified for the final. The finalists, gathered in Moscow, continued to struggle in Suzdal. 43 pupils and students from 24 countries tested their knowledge in the field of forestry. Making proposals on fire safety of forests in their speeches, young foresters appealed to the youth of the world and underlined the importance of joint efforts in this field. Azerbaijani schoolchildren took an active part in quizzes and competitions held during the contest and in the establishment of the Alley of friendship, and were awarded with certificate of honor and prizes. In the final event of the international competition, young foresters of Ismayilli region - Anna Orlova and Timofey Prokofiev were awarded with Certificate of Honor by the Committee for Natural Resources and Ecology of the Parliament of the Russian Federation, special awards by CIS Parliament, commemorative medals and diplomas established by Federal Forestry Agency of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Ecology of the Russian Federation.
