Hasan Hasanli Speaks at the Event "Education as Adaptation and Ambition: A New Approach to Environmental Education"
On November 13, as part of the 29th session of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29), an event titled "Education as Adaptation and Ambition: A New Approach to Environmental Education" was held.
The event, dedicated to the role of education in combating climate change, focused on the importance of education in sustainable development and addressing environmental challenges.
Speaking at the event, Hasan Hasanli, Deputy Minister of Science and Education, emphasized the significant role of education in the fight against climate change. He highlighted that in recent years, special attention has been given to integrating climate and environmental topics into Azerbaijan’s education system, aimed at fostering students' contributions to addressing environmental issues and promoting sustainability. Hasan Hasanli also noted that the successful implementation of STEAM education in Azerbaijan enables students to work on real-world projects related to green energy, sustainability, and new technologies.
During his speech, Hasan Hasanli stressed the importance of enhancing teachers' professional skills to incorporate climate change topics into the education process.
The Deputy Minister also mentioned that research on climate solutions is being promoted in higher education and that discussions on sustainability would continue within the framework of COP29.
