Baku Expo Center will host the 11th Azerbaijan International Education Exhibition from October 6-8. Organized in partnership with the Ministry of Education, the exhibition will be held under the motto “Human capital is our wealth”. The exhibition will highlight the new projects implemented by the Ministry of Education and education opportunities. Compared with previous editions of the exhibition, the Ministry of Education`s stands will cover a larger space this year, featuring "SABAH Groups", "Teach for Azerbaijan", "Bir” Student Volunteer Program, "Maarifchi” Student Loan Fund, "Healthy Education ̶ Healthy Nation", "A pupil`s friend”, “Modular schools”, "Olympic Training Center", “Information and Communication Technologies in Education”, “Preschool Learning”, “Library”, “Tahsil” Republican Sport Center, “Ichari Shahar Traditional Art Center”, “State Agency for Vocational Education”, and “Children-Youth Development Center ". Visitors will have the opportunity to listen to lectures and startup stories and watch presentations and performance of winners of local and international competitions and folk dancers. A total of 14 higher education institutions will have their stands at the exhibition, including Baku State University, Azerbaijan State University of Oil and Industry, French-Azerbaijani University (UFAZ), Azerbaijan State University of Economics, Azerbaijan State Pedagogical University, Baku Engineering University, Azerbaijan University of Architecture and Construction, Azerbaijan University of Technology, Azerbaijan University of Languages. Germany, Austria, Belarus, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Hungary, Russia, Romania, Singapore, Slovakia and other countries will present their universities, colleges, general education institutions and educational centers. This year the education exhibition is distinguished by its extensive business program, which includes "My future profession and the path leading to it" seminar. In general, the exhibition will highlight bachelor`s, master`s and postgraduate programs, foreign language courses, internship and training programs. Exhibition visitors will have the opportunity to speak to representatives of leading higher education institutions to enquire about the application process, fees and other issues. Minister of Education Mikayil Jabbarov received members of the World Bank`s education and labour market diagnostics mission on September 22. They discussed higher education and business incubators, the Systems Approach for Better Education Results, SABER initiative, and labour market diagnostics.  They also exchanged views over Azerbaijan`s future activity in these areas. Minister Mikayil Jabbarov highlighted reforms carried out under the “State Strategy on the Development of Education in the Republic of Azerbaijan”. The head of state cut the ribbon symbolizing the opening of Zugulba training and sports base. Minister of Education Mikayil Jabbarov informed President Ilham Aliyev of the base. The construction work here started in 2015. The sports base occupies an area of nearly one hectare. The training and sports base features a hostel, sports and healthcare blocks, amphitheater, and mini football and basketball pitches. The head of state viewed the conditions created in the sports and healthcare blocks. President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has today viewed conditions created at the secondary school No 201 in Nizami district, Baku, after a major overhaul. The school has two blocks. One of the blocks was constructed in 1964, while the second one in 2007. All necessary conditions were created in all 68 classrooms of the 1400-seat school. The school has five computer rooms, three laboratories, a chess room, gym, conference hall, military room, two libraries and canteen. This school also underwent a major overhaul under the "State Program for socio-economic development of Baku and its suburbs", which was approved by the President of Azerbaijan. The school features 49 classrooms, two computer rooms, three laboratories, a gym and conference hall, military room and canteen. Head of Baku City Executive Authority Hajibala Abutalibov informed the head of state of the reconstruction work. The building of the school was constructed in 1964. The school underwent a major overhaul under the "State Program for socio-economic development of Baku and its suburbs", which was approved by the President of Azerbaijan. The territory of the 984-seat school occupies a total area of 11,000 square metres. The school-lyceum was supplied with all the necessary equipment. The head of state also familiarized himself with the Healthy Education classes which were created in the school-lyceum. The Healthy Education - Healthy Nation project aims to protect students' health in schools and to improve their educational achievements. The reconstruction work was also done in football, volleyball and basketball grounds. A final conference on “Support to the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan for Further Adherence of the Higher Education System to the European Higher Education Area” Twinning project was held on August 29. The conference aimed to make public the results of the Twinning project, which is funded by the EU, and the Ministry of Education`s plans to increase quality of higher education and research. Addressing the conference, Deputy Minister of Education Jeyhun Bayramov said that launched in September 2015, the project had three partners: the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Finnish Education Evaluation Centre and the Estonian Higher Education Quality Agency. Key results of the two-year project included the adoption of quality assurance standards in higher education in accordance with the European Higher Education Area standards and principles, development of Azerbaijan Qualification Framework, enhancement of the coordination and networking capacity of the Ministry of Education, review of legislative framework on the existing accreditation practice, and development of new accreditation and quality evaluation standards. Quality evaluations were conducted in three pilot universities – Azerbaijan State University of Economics, Azerbaijan State Pedagogical University and Azerbaijan Technical University.  Speakers highlighted works done under the project. The issues related to the application of the recommendations and results of the project were discussed at the conference. The Twinning project experts, representatives of pilot universities and evaluation groups made presentations at the event.
