AFFA has addressed a letter to FIFA and UEFA, apasport.az reports. The association has disseminated information in this regard via its official website. It was stated that one of members of the family that was killed in Naftalan City as a result of opening fire by Armenia’s armed forces on our residential settlements beginning from September 27 – Shahriyar Gurbanov born in 2007 played as a member of UGIM (Naftalan) team in U-11 League held with AFFA’s organizational support during 2017/2018 season. AFFA expresses its condolences with deep sorrow on occasion of death of a member of Azerbaijan’s football family aged 13, and ask from Allah mercy upon souls of all our martyrs. On September 27 an entire family in Naftalan city of Azerbaijan perished as a result of indiscriminate shelling by the armed forces of the Republic of Armenia. Two of the family members were schoolchildren - Shahriyar Gurbanov, born in 2007 and Fidan Gurbanova, born in 2006, attended the Gashalti Garagoyunlu secondary school. Since yesterday, the occupying armed forces of the Republic of Armenia have deliberately targeted our citizens and civilian infrastructure in violation of the norms and principles of international law as well as the 1949 Geneva Conventions.  We are deeply saddened by the events and express sincere condelences for the loss of lives of our compatriots. We wish our Army every success in their historic mission to liberate our lands!

On September 23, Minister of Education Emin Amrullayev met with the leadership of “World Skills International” (WSI) in online format. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the main priorities facing the country in the framework of the formalization of Azerbaijan's membership in WSI and the opportunities that membership will create for the country. During the meeting, it was emphasized that WSI membership was a logical continuation of the measures taken within the framework of the "Strategic Road Map for the development of vocational education and training in the Republic of Azerbaijan". The meeting was also attended by employees of the State Agency for Vocational Education and the Ministry of Education. It should be noted that WSI promotes professional skills around the world and is known as the Olympiad of professions. Azerbaijan is expected to become the 85th member of this organization, participate in the General Meeting of the Organization to be held in October of this year, and thus confirm its membership.

A two-day online training program on recognition of non-formal and informal learning skills was organized with the participation of an international expert. The program is implemented by the European Union, the United Nations Development Program, the Agency for Quality Assurance in Education and the State Agency for Vocational Education. The program brings together vocational education specialists, private sector representatives and professionals in the field. The program includes steps to organize the process of theoretical as well as practical assessment for citizens who want to formalize their training, knowledge and skills. After these assessments, citizens will receive certificates that will help increase their chances of finding a job or taking their careers to a new level. It is expected that the promotion on recognition of non-formal and informal leaning skills will open up new opportunities for a skilled workforce in the Azerbaijani labor market. The first exam will be held this month in Ganja for candidates who want to formalize their knowledge of dry construction with the support of the Agency for Quality Assurance in Education and the “Knauf” international company for the production of building materials. During the exam, candidates who showed high results will be awarded a certificate after the evaluation by a special commission chaired by a representative of the Agency for Quality Assurance in Education. This pre-exam training program was organized within the framework of the EU-funded project on "Support to the establishment of a Regional Industrial Vocational Education and Training Competence Center in Ganja" implemented jointly by UNDP and the State Agency for Vocational Education aimed at further strengthening and modernizing Azerbaijan's vocational education and training system.

President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has viewed the renovation work carried out at the secondary school No. 251 in Nizami district, Baku and attended the opening of a new block of the school. The head of state was informed of the conditions created at the school. The school which had functioned since 1974, enrolls nearly 1,700 students. The 840-seat new block has chemistry, physics, biology labs, 35 classrooms, a library, a reading hall and auxiliary rooms. The head of state and the first lady also toured the park created on the university campus. Rector of ADA University Hafiz Pashayev informed President Ilham Aliyev and First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva of the conditions created at the new facilities. Their construction was carried out in 2016-2019. The new premises have an auditorium, classrooms, group rooms, a library and labs.   Students representing our country at the 31st International Biology Olympiad “IBO Challenge 2020” have achieved a great success. Matin Muradli, a 10th grade student of Sumgayit secondary school No. 15, was awarded a gold medal, Asiman Ziyyadinov and Sadiyar Gafarov, 10th grade students of the lyceum on chemistry-biology under the Ministry of Education, and Ranal Gurbanov, a 10th grade student of Baku secondary school No. 102, were awarded silver medals. Thus, our students who have participated in the above-mentioned Olympiad since 1994 have won a total of 3 gold, 9 silver and 12 bronze medals.  Our students representing Azerbaijan in various Olympiads since 1992 have won a total of 497 medals, including 29 gold, 205 silver and 263 bronze medals. Since 2013 so far, 194 medals have been won, including 8 gold, 53 silver and 133 bronze medals, which is about 40% of all medals. It should be noted that more than 200 students from 52 countries participated in the virtual knowledge contest held on August 7-12. The process of preparation for the competition has been carried out at the International Olympiads Training Center which has been functioning for 6 years yet. It should be remembered that every year about 300 students from different age groups are involved in the preparatory process organized on mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology and informatics. Students of the International Olympiad Preparatory Center are selected from the winners of the Subject Competitions or Republican Subject Olympiads held among students of VI-VII grades.
