Shahla Kazimova, Azerbaijanian in nationality, Ph.D. in the University of Warsaw, chairman of Azerbaijani Cultural Centre Society founded in Poland, will teach these subjects. Although the subjects related with Azerbaijan have been recently included to the program, the number of students registered for the classes has been more than the expected. Official presentation of this educational project, financed by Azerbaijan side and emerged as a result of negotiations held between Embassy to Poland and top management of the University of Warsaw, has been organized in the University of Warsaw in October 11. At the event the ambassador Hasan Hasanov met with the students who chose the subjects related with Azerbaijan Studies and made a broad speech. The diplomat spoke about care given in the recent years to the development of culture in our country under the leadership of Ilham Aliyev, the President of Azerbaijan, large-scale international and regional projects in progress, economic successes achieved. He noted that the leader of our state considers the defense of national interests and benefits as a primary goal and pursue relevant reasonable policy. Hasan Hasanov emphasized the important role of Mehriban Aliyeva, first lady of Azerbaijan and president of Heydar Aliyev Foundation, in reserving national and cultural heritage of Azerbaijani people and keep it for further generations, world-wide promotion of our culture, renovation and protection of historical monuments not only in Azerbaijan, but also in everywhere of the world . The ambassador gave broad information also on Azerbaijani history, literature, ancient epos, carpet weaving, music, architecture art, cultural relations between Azerbaijan and Poland. Besides, the ambassador responded to the students’ questions relating with tourism in Azerbaijan, cinema, cuisine, ancient monuments. As known, earthquake measuring 8 Richter scale in China’s Sichuan Province in May 2008 resulted in great destructions, as well as many school buildings and other social objects destructed. After the incident, by initiative of Ilham Aliyev, the President of Azerbaijan, 1 million USD have been allocated for the construction of school building destructed in Sichuan Province. Within this allocation, construction of modern school complex with all its facilities was started in Xoubaya settlement of high mountainous Wenchuan county in December 2008, main part of the complex was ready in August 2009, in February 2012 all the project related activities were completed. After consultations between Azerbaijan Embassy to China and local authorities, memorial plaque has been placed on the school building. The plaque notes that being the first after the earthquake, Ilham Aliyev, the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, demonstrating high humanity, gave humanitarian aid to disaster victims and played a great role in re-construction of the school in its previous area. In near future representatives of Azerbaijan Embassy to China will visit Sichuan county and present gifts, as well as visual aids about Azerbaijan to pupils.

The dissertation paper written by postgraduate of the university was devoted to the so-called subject “Azerbaijan Economy during Independence Years”. Research paper has been leaded by Clous Tomasberger, professor of Berlin Technical and Economic University of Germany, by Germany side and Mansur Barkhudarov, Assitant professor of Department of International Economic Relations of Azerbaijan State Economic University, by Azerbaijan side.   The important dissertation paper has successfully been defended from the standpoint of systematized and complex analysis of achieved economic successes of Azerbaijan, mainly informing German scientific publicity on these successes. M.Barkhudarov taking part in the defense process stated his own comments and suggestions to the research work.

13 projects submitted by Azerbaijan universities were successful in the competition. 3 out of winning projects were proposed by the Azerbaijan University of Languages (“Teaching foreign languages for professional purposes” - 1 142 902 Euros), Azerbaijan State Economic University (“Development and improvement of university management towards international relations” - 653 908 Euros) and Khazar University (“Establishment of foundation towards integration of people in need of special care to Azerbaijan universities” - 725 273 Euros”). It’s to note that Azerbaijan started participating in Tempus program since 1995. State and private universities of Azerbaijan actively take part in Tempus projects. At the moment the participation of universities in regions of Azerbaijan and the projects considering structural events are special priorities. In general, participation of Azerbaijan universities in European Union grant projects continues to increase year by year. Thus if 45 projects were submitted in 2012, in 2013 this number reached up to 63. This year 23 projects submitted by the universities have been shortlisted, 13 have been approved.

Citizens appealed regarding the issues such as: employment of teachers or replacement from one school, as well as one region to another, recognition of educational documents, strengthen material and technical base of education institutions, continuation of education of children with physical disabilities, age limit to work in education institutions, re-employment, problems at universities, education fee, transfers, change the education form. Requests of 151 citizens were listened; most issues were solved in place. Relevant bodies of the Ministry were tasked regarding several requests. Some citizens’ requests not belonging to the authority of the Ministry or requests with personal character were noted to be disseminated to relevant bodies and taken over the control.

This year the Education Committee under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan made a positive decision regarding 783 persons out of candidates submitted their documents in order to study at the universities of foreign countries within the State Program. And selection process of the students for 2013-2014 within State Program of education abroad has been completed. Sattar Mehbaliyev, chairman of Azerbaijan Trade Union Confederation and AEEITU Republic Committee, deputy of National Assembly told about the support given to the youth policy in the country and about events organized towards this field. Noted that in order to increase student’s interest to science and education, AEEITU Republic Committee scholarship was established in 1995. Since then about 1600 students who succeeded in winter and summer sessions at universities benefited from this scholarship. Stating that preparation of educated young people is one of the key priorities of Azerbaijan, S.Mehbaliyev noted that today 2700 students study abroad and the expenses are committed by the government. He declared his belief in further active public participation of the students granted with the scholarships. Ilham Pirmammadov, counselor of the Ministry of Education, valued as estimable case the establishment of scholarships and AEEITU initiative, wished the students success.
