A monthly allowance in the amount of 20 manat was determined to be paid to parents of pupils involved in education at home and other legal representatives in secondary schools in order to bring their children to healthcare and rehabilitation centers, as well as medical institutions.
According to the Resolution of Cabinet of Ministers No. 108 dated April 15, 2015, allowances will be calculated from February and payment of allowances will be made by the local education authorities.

Azerbaijani schoolchildren became the winners of the World Chess Championship.
Schoolchildren between the ages of 7-17 from 34 countries attended the championship held in Pattaya, Thailand. Azerbaijan was represented by the team of 12 chess players of "Tahsil" Republican Sports Center (RIC) in the competition. This team consists of the winners of the final round of the Republic Championship, held at the end of last year, in different age groups. According to the results of the competition, Leyla Budagova won 2 gold medals in the classical chess and blitz among girls under the age of 7 years, Shahriyar Iskandarov won a gold medal in the blitz among boys under the age of 15 years, Murad Ibrahimli won a gold medal in the blitz among boys under the age of 13 years. Thus, Azerbaijani schoolchildren won totally 4 gold medals and were awarded the 2th place in team score among 34 countries.

Students of the integration trained boarding school No.11 and the republican special boarding school No.4 for children with limited health condition and deprived of parental care successfully participated in "VII International Special Track and Field Games" sports competition.
Students of the integration trained boarding school No.11 Kamala Huseynova and Aleksandra Faxraddinova were awarded gold medals by taking 1st place in the running and the long jump respectively in the competition held in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. Students of the boarding school No.11 Filippenko Nadezhda won 2nd place in the long jump, Tamam Heydarova won 2nd place in the running and students of the republican special boarding school No.4 Parviz Mustafayev, Taleh Giyasov won 2nd place in the running and were awarded a silver medal, Fagan Aliyev took the third place in the running and was awarded a bronze medal. At the end of sports competition, Azerbaijani students and teaching staff accompanying them were awarded "Gratitude" by the Ministry of Education of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.

The students of general education institutions continue to visit the universities within the framework of the project "University libraries through the eyes of schoolchildren" of the Ministry of Education.
The next visit of the schoolchildren will be to Azerbaijan State Economic University and Western University on May 20 within the framework of this project. The main objective of the project is to ensure the formation of rich imaginations about the university libraries in students and to create favorable conditions for providing them with additional knowledge, as well as to allow schoolchildren to familiarize with the university libraries. 9th-11th grade students (only 8 students from each education institution), selected from Lyceum named after Heydar Aliyev, Educational complex No. 132 -134, Baku Turkish Diyanet Vakfi lyceum and Lyceum of Young Talents, got acquainted with the libraries of universities within the framework of the project. Pupils shared their impressions about the libraries of universities and conducted the evaluation on pre-defined criteria. It should be noted that students of general education institutions are expected to visit the libraries of 6 universities. At the end of the project, higher education institutions will be evaluated by students in terms of capabilities and reader satisfaction of libraries and necessary improving proposals will be made in this sphere. As well as, after getting acquainted with libraries of higher education institutions, students will be able to share information they have obtained on library science, information exchange, the history of libraries and bibliographic work with their peers.

The zonal badminton and volleyball competitions were held in Baku within the framework of the massive sporting events dedicated to the promotion of 14 kinds of sports, included in the program of the Baku 2015 First European Games, among schoolchildren.
About 100 schoolchildren (schoolboys and schoolgirls) between the ages of 7-17 from districts of Baku attended the badminton competition, held at sports hall of Baku Slavic University. The athletes demonstrated exemplary performances on different types of badminton during the opening phase of the event. According to the results of the competition, the teams of Yasamal, Khatai and Binagadi districts won 1st, 2nd and 3rd places respectively in team score. Another sporting event took place at the sports hall of Azerbaijan State Economic University. The zonal volleyball competition was held among schoolchildren at the sports hall of Azerbaijan State Economic University. 12 teams from districts of Baku joined the fight for the title of winner. The teams of Sabail, Surakhani and Khazar districts won 1st, 2nd and 3rd places respectively in team score. The representatives of the Ministry of Education and sports community attended the opening ceremony of the competitions. The winners were awarded with diplomas and medals of the Ministry of Education.

On May 29, the “Last bell” event was held in Sabirabad city secondary school no. 5 named after Nizami Ganjavi.
Mikayil Jabbarov, the Minister of Education, Nazim Ismailov, the head of the Executive Power of Sabirabad region, representatives of the education community of the region and parents attended the event. At first, guests laid flowers at the monument to national leader Heydar Aliyev located near the school, in the center of Sabirabad city and expressed their respect and reverence for Heydar Aliyev's memory. The “Last bell” event began with the national anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan. Then the floor was given to Mikayil Jabbarov, the Minister of Education. Minister mentioned that one of the most important issues of our country in the construction of a new society is the upbringing of the younger generation in the spirit of patriotism, the further increase of their interest in education and science, the formation of a wide range of vision. Emphasizing the policy founded by national leader Heydar Aliyev towards the development of education in Azerbaijan is successfully continued under the leadership of president Ilham Aliyev, paying serious attention to the necessity of reforms, Mikayil Jabbarov spoke about the work carried out in this regard. He reminded that today a new phase is beginning in the life of graduates and expressed his confidence that each of them would be represented actively in all events, carried out for the future development of our country, as a citizen of Azerbaijan. Reminding Ahliman Huseynov, technology teacher of this school, sacrificed his life to save the third grade student who fell into Kur River as a result of a car accident in December last year, Mikayil Jabbarov noted that his heroism is an example to everyone. At the end of his speech, the Minister congratulated the graduates on the occasion of the Last Bell celebration and wished them success in their future education and life. Then the graduates of the school expressed their gratitude to teachers, preparing them for a new stage of life. The graduates said that they were upset to leave their native school and promised to gladden their teachers with their success all the time. The ceremony was continued with the "Last Bell" literary and art composition, prepared by pupils. It should be noted that full secondary school no. 5 named after Nizami Ganjavi was built and put into operation in 1979 at the initiative of national leader Heydar Aliyev. The national leader, showing attention to each educational institution, sent a letter of congratulation to the staff on the 20th anniversary of the school in 1999. 1271 pupils are currently studying at the school. 37 graduates were admitted to higher education institutions in academic year 2013-2014. The school, supplied with modern teaching inventory and equipments, is the resource center on preparation of curriculums. Two graduates of the school were awarded with the Scholarship of the President of Azerbaijan Republic. One student of the school became the silver winner of the Olympiad on Azerbaijan language and literature in the Republican Subject Olympiad, held in April 2015. The name of a school graduate was included in the "Golden Book" of Azerbaijani young talents and he was awarded with special monthly scholarship of the President of the country. Then Mikayil Jabbarov, the Minister of Education, met with the family and relatives of the deceased teacher Ahliman Huseynov in Javad village and expressed condolences to them.

Reforms, events and innovations conducted by the Ministry of Education during the academic year 2014-2015
For the first time since the 2014-2015 academic year, "Future Teacher Scholarship" was awarded to 300 students, who scored 500 or more points at the entrance examinations to higher education institutions, where teaching staff training is conducted, and who chose the teaching profession in first or second place in specialty selection. By the Decision of the Cabinet of Ministers taking into account the proposals of the Ministry of Education, the young specialists, started their labor activities in secondary schools on the state order and continued their activities in these educational institutions for a period of 3 years, are paid a compensation payment in the amount of 60 AZN in order to pay for utility services and residential rent, and the young specialists, started their labor activities in secondary schools, located at a distance of more than 20 kilometers from the district center, are paid additional payment in the amount of 100 AZN per month to monthly salary within 3 years. "Ethical rules of conduct of teachers" were approved by the Order of the Minister of Education. According to the rules, in the academic year 2014-2015, the newly hired teaching staff started their activities by taking a "Teacher's Oath". Trainings were organized on the basis of the modern professional standards for school principals and other individuals wishing to become a school principal. 15 people, successfully passed the trainings and received the Certificate of Quality, were appointed directors of secondary schools of the capital. Since the academic year 2014-2015, "Healthy education class" was established in 6 secondary schools of Baku and Sumgait within the framework of the project of “Healthy Education – Healthy Nation”. In the academic year 2014-2015, 573 people were sent abroad to study within the framework of the “State Program on education of Azerbaijani youth in foreign countries in 2007-2015”. Since the academic year 2014-2015, SABAH groups started to operate in 7 higher education institutions of our country. 755 students are studying in 34 specialties in SABAH groups. Since the academic year 2014-2015, optional course "History of Karabakh" is taught in 8th grades of secondary schools. The program and teaching aids of optional course were published and delivered to schools. According to the Order of President Ilham Aliyev on raising the teaching load and the salaries of teachers working in state secondary schools, whose knowledge and abilities undergo diagnostic evaluation, the salary and teaching load of teachers were increased. The "Action Plan related to the implementation of the National Strategy for the Development of Education in the Republic of Azerbaijan" was approved by Order of the President Ilham Aliyev. Competition was held for recruitment to the posts of deputy director for educational work, deputy director (organizer) for pastoral work and laboratory assistant in secondary schools. Since the academic year 2014-2015, taking into account the need for teaching staff in secondary schools of our country, the number of specialties on retraining education was increased and teacher training started on mathematics, computer science, chemistry and biology, history and geography specialties. "Leadership and management" trainings were held within the framework of the project entitled "Improvement of knowledge and skills of managers and teaching staff in initial vocational education institutions”. The Ministry of Education organized a training course within the framework of “Təməl” Scholarship Program for primary school teachers who teach in 4th grade of schools operating in Baku. A Decree was signed on the implementation of the project on "Application of inclusive education in primary education level" intended to involve children with disabilities in inclusive education in secondary schools. This year, subject Olympiads in mathematics and natural sciences were held on the basis of the new rules. Training Centers for international subject Olympiads were established in Sumgait and Baku. Azerbaijan won the right to host the 47th International Chemistry Olympiad. Schoolchildren from nearly 80 countries will participate in this Olympiad. A series of measures, aimed at improving relations between universities of Azerbaijan and France, were taken. Reading clubs were established in secondary schools in order to improve students' reading culture and reading motivation, to create community which organized reading under educational institution. 50 secondary schools were provided with mobile carts, “Biochem” and “Physio” Lab discs, Intel tablets by the Ministry of Education with the purpose of modernization of laboratories in secondary schools. Electronic Textbook Portal (www.e-derslik.edu.az), enabling the learners to read textbooks in an electronic format, was put into operation. www.e-resurs.edu.az portal was established in order to concentrate electronic educational resources in one source. Portal allows access to the e-textbooks, video-lessons, contests, e-tasks, various games and other educational resources. "ASAN school" section began to operate in the regional "ASAN service" center, putting into operation in Barda region. For the first time since the 2014-2015 academic year, the Ministry of Education started to implement the admission process through the electronic system in order to create an optimal and efficient implementation mechanism in the admission of children to the first class of secondary schools, lyceums and gymnasiums operating in Baku. Since the academic year 2014-2015, the school readiness groups were established in secondary schools subordinated to the Baku city Education Department. Children, involved in these groups and celebrated their 6th birthday from September 15 to December 31, are admitted to secondary schools out of competition. Recruitment of teachers is carried out on the basis of the new system in a centralized manner by the Ministry. The zonal competitions are held among schoolchildren in 14 kinds of sports, included in the program of the European Games in order to promote the Baku 2015 First European Games. "SABAH Volunteer" program of students of "SABAH" groups are carried out in order to participate as a volunteer in the Baku 2015 First European Games. In the academic year 2014-2015, 111 839 pupils will finish 9th grades, 90 557 will finish 11th grades of secondary schools of our country, as well as 820 pupils will finish 12th grades of correspondence and evening schools.

Elnara Aliasgarova is the graduate of the Republic Specialized Olympic Reserves Child-Youth Sports School no.1 of “Təhsil” Republic Sports Center. She is engaged in the shot put and is the two-time Azerbaijan Champion. She is among the athletes, who get into the top ten at the European championship last year. She is studying at Azerbaijan State Pedagogical University. Eyyub Bayramov is the graduate of the Specialized Olympic Reserves Child-Youth Athletics School no.5 of Baku. E.Bayramov won awards in the high jump in Azerbaijan and Georgia championships. 23-year-old athlete is studying at Azerbaijan Technical University. Kamran Asgarov is the graduate of the Specialized Olympic Reserves Child-Youth Athletics School no.5 of Baku. K.Asgarov, engaged in sprint (running), won the 3rd place in the European Cup, became the winner of the Azerbaijan championship. Lala Huseynova is the graduate of the Specialized Olympic Reserves Child-Youth Gymnastics School of the Ministry of Education. She was the winner of the National championship in women group and won the third place in the international tournament in Minsk. She is studying at the Azerbaijan State Academy of Physical Training and Sports. Javanshir Safarov the graduate of the Specialized Olympic Reserves Child-Youth Sports School no.8 of Baku city Education Department. He was the winner of Azerbaijan and Baku championships in fencing and won the second place in the World Cup. He is studying at Baku Food Industry College.

The Job Fair entitled "Young specialist", organized by the Ministry of Education of Azerbaijan Republic, the American Chamber of Commerce in Azerbaijan ("AmCham Azerbaijan"), “British American Tobacco” company and with the support of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, will be held at Haydar Aliyev Center on May 23.
The job fair was held within the framework of measures aimed at involving talented students, studying at various universities of Azerbaijan, in practice in the leading companies of the country, as well as at expanding their employment opportunities. It should be noted that registration of students, who will participate in the fair, ended on May 1. More than 2700 graduates from 41 higher education institutions and about 60 international and local companies (as the employer) registered to participate in the job fair. The peculiarity of the job fair, to be held annually, is that business representatives are informed about the candidates before the fair and the candidates meet with representatives of a particular company on the day of the event. After the completion of the registration for students, the employers-companies get acquainted with the students' information and the most suitable candidates are invited for an interview during the period stipulated by the fair. We bring to the attention of the registered students that the letter of invitation will be sent to the email address provided during registration. The candidates, invited for an interview by the relevant companies, are requested to come to the Heydar Aliyev Center with the identity document on job fair day.
