“Maarifçi” Student Loan Fund grants first loans
On June 30, a ceremony was held at the Ministry of Education to award certificates to the students who received loans from “Maarifçi” Student Loan Fund.
Participants in the event included Minister of Education Mikayil Jabbarov, Executive Director of “Maarifçi” Student Loan Fund Rufat Mahmud, heads of higher education institutions, students and media representatives.
In his remarks, Minister Mikayil Jabbarov hailed the importance of “Maarifçi” Student Loan Fund. “Established on the initiative of the Ministry of Education, the fund is designed to create equal higher education opportunities for students from low-income families, who experience problems with paying their tuition fees, through granting long-term low-interest loans to them,” said Mikayil Jabbarov. He said the fund was established by a number of higher education institutions, adding that students` problems with paying tuition fees will be solved through student loans.
Executive Director of “Maarifçi” Student Loan Fund Rufat Mahmud said the first session of the fund was already complete. “The session run from June 3 to June 25, and we received more than 300 requests from students and parents. Based on the fund`s criteria 55 requests were considered, and agreements were signed with 22 students. Of this, 10 are standard loans, and 12 are low-interest loans.”
Minister Mikayil Jabbarov handed certificates to the students who received loans from “Maarifçi” Student Loan Fund.
