On December 29, the ceremony of awarding the winners of the Republican contest “Electronic Education” was held. The event was attended by the heads of relevant departments and structural divisions of the Ministry of Education, the representatives of the agencies involved in the organization of the contest, the winners of the contest and the mass media representatives. Speaking at the ceremony, Emin Amrullayev, head of the Department of educational development programs of the Ministry of Education, noted that there was great interest in the contest that was held for the 6th time by the Ministry. E. Amrullayev noted that the main objective of the contest was to expand the use of electronic learning resources and internet technologies in the teaching process, to learn new ways to use the Internet for educational purposes, to motivate teachers and students to create electronic resources, to encourage teachers who actively use information technology in the teaching process. The contest was attended by the teaching staff of general education institutions, the Methodist experts of institutions engaged in advanced training and retraining of teaching staff, as well as schoolchildren.  It should be noted that in order to ensure the transparency of the contest organized in 6 categories on the "Teacher" and "Student" directions, the evaluation stages were organized online, the conditions were created for online discussions about the works which were received, the experts and jury were determined on the basis of the interview. 900 out of 941 works, submitted to the first stage of the contest, were submitted for evaluation by experts in the second stage and as a result, 207 works passed to the third stage as nominees. The works, passed to the third stage, were evaluated online by the jury. As a result, 14 winners were declared and 18 distinguished works were identified. The winners were presented with diplomas, laptops, tablets, printers and other special prizes. The contest is supported by "Dr. Web", "AzEduNet", "Ultra", the Additional Education Center for "Innovative Technologies in Education", "Edumedia Azerbaijan" and "Nar Mobile".

On December 29, the Ministry of Education held a press conference dedicated to the results for the year 2015. The event was attended by senior officials of the Ministry of Education, education experts and mass media representatives. At the press conference, a video was shown about important events taking place in the field of education in 2015, the work done, the success achieved and the measures taken by the Ministry of Education. At the conference, representatives of the Ministry of Education provided detailed information to mass media representatives about the reforms implemented for the use of modern management model in the education system in 2015, the quality improvement, the strengthening of human resources in terms of skills and competencies, the ensuring of transparency and in other relevant areas. It was noted that thanks to President Ilham Aliyev's attention to education sector, a significant progress was achieved in the current year and a solid foundation was laid for a new beginning in terms of development of education system. The representatives expressed their confidence that it would pave the way for successful implementation of measures specified in the National Strategy for the Development of Education (2016). The education experts, who attended the event, highly appreciated the work done in the field of education and noted that they provided support to the Ministry of Education in connection with public education reforms that were implemented.  Then, numerous questions of media representatives were answered. At the end of the press conference, mass media representatives were presented with gifts by the Ministry of Education.

According to the Order of the Minister of Education Mikayil Jabbarov, Mahabbat Veliyeva was appointed as the Head of Baku City Education Department (BCED) on December 28. It should be noted that prior to this appointment, M.Valiyeva worked as the Deputy Head of BCED. According to other orders of the Minister of Education, Rashad Tagiyev was appointed as the Deputy Head of BCED, Ilhama Abdullayeva was appointed as the Head of Information Provision Department of BCED, and Raman Mammadov was appointed as the Head of Human Resources Department of BCED.

On December 28, the ceremony for presenting awards to a group of education workers was held at secondary school No.23 named after Tahir Hasanov. The ceremony was attended by Mikayil Jabbarov, Minister of Education, senior officials of the Ministry and education workers. Mikayil Jabbarov, Minister of Education, congratulated the honorees and noted that the calendar year, that draws to the end, was memorable for successful events in the field of education. On December 24, the event was held to mark the 85th anniversary of the establishment of Azerbaijan State University of Economics (UNEC). The participants of the event familiarized themselves with the art exhibition, consisting of handicrafts of UNEC students and employees, as well as with caricature and book exhibitions. The anniversary event began with listening to the National Anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan. Beginning his speech with the idea "I am proud that we have a higher education", expressed by National Leader Heydar Aliyev during his visit to the university in 2002, Adalat Muradov, Rector of UNEC, professor, noted that our eminent professors, who have made significant contributions and services to economic science, have a big hand on the glorious 85-year way of the university. Noting that the strategic target of the university is to increase the teaching staff’s capacity, Rector said that considerable work was done in the direction of improving this potential. Rector also mentioned about the salaries increased in three stages within the two year’s period and the indicator for the pedagogical personnel’s salaries which is the highest among the higher education institutions. He underlined that the increase in salaries is not the limit; the work in this direction is in progress. Speaking about the work done at the university, Rector said that UNEC teachers will be promoted to perform as the experts by establishing new journal “UNEC Expert”. The journal will be published in the first quarter of the next year. Saying that they will mobilize their forces for the execution of the task put before them by the President Ilham Aliyev - the transformation of Azerbaijan State University of Economics into a world-class university, Rector added that in the 90-year anniversary of UNEC, we would rise it up to the TOP-1000 in the QS World University Rankings. Mikayil Jabbarov, Minister of Education, mentioned that Azerbaijan State University of Economics, providing a unique contribution to the development of higher education, plays an important role in solving the country’s social and economic problems. According to the Minister, Azerbaijan needs to have well-educated, thoughtful and creative professionals with good knowledge of the business environment in a globalized world in terms of the economic challenges encountered. World experience shows that the level of development of any country is determined by human resources generating higher yields. The work done by the University of Economics for preparing such personnel is praiseworthy. Mikayil Jabbarov says I believe that the main objective of the 85-year-old University of Economics is to adapt the higher education to international standards by noting that the internationalization of higher education is the global process today. At the same time, preservation of scientific potential in education, as well as training of scientific pedagogical personnel are the main objectives standing ahead: "The project of “Young teachers” implemented by UNEC is very pleased from this point. 121 young teachers were recruited to the university most of which are graduates of the prestigious universities of the Europe, US and Canada. The process should be continued and cover other universities. I believe that the involvement of young professionals, studying abroad, in the scientific and pedagogical activity will fundamentally help to solve the problems in education". Paying tribute to those who established Azerbaijan State University of Economics and contributed to its development, M.Jabbarov expressed hope for the staff team that they will do their best in training young economists for the sustainable development of independent Azerbaijan. The Open Boxing Championship of the Specialized Olympic Reserves Child-Youth Sports School No.8 was held. The purpose of the competition is to provide support for the effective organization of leisure time of children and young people, to involve them in a healthy lifestyle, to improve race experience of young athletes. The competition, dedicated to the World Azerbaijanis Solidarity Day, was attended by a total of 11 teams from the Specialized Olympic Reserves Child-Youth Sports Schools No.1, No.8 and No.13, Republican Olympic Sports Lyceum, "Winner" and "Dynamo" sports clubs, Jalilabad, Neftchala, Shirvan, Shabran, and Agsu. According to the results of the competition, held in a tense struggle, pupils of the Specialized Olympic Reserves Child-Youth Sports School No.8 won the first place and became the winners of the competition. The team of the Specialized Olympic Reserves Child-Youth Sports School No.1 won the second place and the team of Jalilabad region won the third place.

On December 24, a grand celebration was organized by the Ministry of Education at Republican special boarding school No.4 for children with diasbility and deprived of parental care on the occasion of the World Azerbaijanis Solidarity Day and the New Year. The literary and artistic composition performed by pupils of the boarding school was shown in the celebration attended by employees of the Ministry of Education and mass media representatives. The sketch entitled "Radish", prepared by pupils, aroused great interest among the participants. Children danced with Santa Claus and Snow Maiden and sang a song. Then, the pupils of the boarding school were presented with holiday gifts by the Ministry of Education. Media representatives got acquainted with the learning and living conditions created for pupils at the boarding school and had lunch with the pupils. Mass media representatives were informed that Republican special boarding school No.4 for children with limited health condition and deprived of parental care was put into operation in November of this year after being overhauled by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation. The boarding school has vocational rooms for pottery, carpet-weaving, carpentry, tool-making, sewing, embroidery and painting. A swimming pool and sports hall are operating at the school, equipped with modern equipment, in order to organize children’s leisure time and rest. Media representatives were informed about the participation of the pupils of the boarding school in international sports competitions and Republican art exhibitions, and about their achievements. It should be noted that 104 out of 198 pupils receiving training and education at the boarding school were involved in the Rehabilitation Center operating under the auspices of this educational institution. 103 teachers are engaged in the training and education of pupils.

On December 22, the students of technical disciplines-oriented class 10th of full secondary school no. 47 of Baku city were taught an exemplary lesson on the theme "Comparative characteristics of halogens" in chemistry. The exemplary lesson was conducted by Vagif Abbasov, academician, Director of Institute of Petrochemical Processes of Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences. It should be noted that the exemplary lessons are taught by prominent scientists working at ANAS in accordance with the initiative associated with the target-oriented program entitled "From Science to Education" and put forward by Mikayil Jabbarov, Minister of Education, at the ceremony dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS) and according to the agreement reached between the Ministry of Education of Azerbaijan Republic and the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS). During the lesson, V.Abbasov noted that the integration of science and education played an important role in the training of national personnel with advanced scientific knowledge. The Open Door Day was held at Fine Art Gallery of Child-Youth Creativity Palace named after Tofig Ismayilov. The main objective of the Open Door Day is to arouse children`s and young people`s interest in fine art and to reveal their creative abilities. Visitors familiarized themselves with the art exhibition reflecting all genres of fine art and organizing among circle members of secondary schools and creativity centers operating in Baku. The exhibition was attended by children and young people between the ages of 6-18. The exhibition covered the topics "My city - the Pearls of Azerbaijan", "Our national heritage - the samples of decorative-applied art", "Azerbaijani fairy tales through the eyes of children”. On the Open Door Day, the heads of the circles drew pictures together with the participants of the exhibition and conducted master classes on various topics by using paper, clay and plasticine. The guests got acquainted with the secrets of the art of ebru. They also developed simple animations at the Circle of digital image. It should be noted that Fine Art Gallery plans to expand cooperation with relevant galleries of other countries and to organize various innovative projects and Master classes with well-known artists of Azerbaijan and foreign countries.

The Republican stage of the essay contest on the theme "My thoughts about the national-spiritual values" was held at lyceum named after academician Zarifa Aliyeva under the Ministry of Education on December 20. The contest was attended by 101 pupils from all regions of the country. It should be noted that the essay contest on the theme "My thoughts about the national-spiritual values" is held according to the 2015 Joint Action Plan of the State Committee for Work with Religious Organizations and the Ministry of Education on "Strengthening the measures for upbringing children and youth in the spirit of respect for national-spiritual and universal values in educational institutions" and according to the appropriate order of the Ministry of Education in order to implement paragraph 8 of this plan. 9th-11th grade students of secondary schools participated in the contest. Its school-based and regional (city) stages, attended by more than 30 000 pupils, were organized in October-November this year. The names of winners of regional (city) stage were submitted to the Ministry of Education by local education governing bodies. The essays will be checked by the Special Commission established by the Ministry of Education. The winners of the contest will be awarded Diplomas and prizes.
