Awarding ceremony of the winners of interschools I subject contest organized among the pupils of secondary education institutions functioning in the Baku and Sumgait cities held on january 15.
Officials of The Ministry of Education, The Sabail and Khatai District Executive Power, Milli Majlis’s members, school directors, education experts took part in the event.
Making a speech in the ceremony, Ceyhun Bayramov deputy minister of education stressed that, “State Strategy on development of eduation in the Azerbaijan Republic” reflects several core targets directed on determination of talented children and their development. Olympiads and subject contests have special importance in the detection of talented children. Taking this into account, final phase of Republic subject olympiads have been conducted according to the principles of transparency and openness under special supervision of The Ministry of Education. At the same time, results have been seriously analyzed and investigated. Ceyhun Bayramov stated that, analysis detected need for some improvements and novelties on several directions especially on the sphere of natural sciences.
Ceyhun Bayramov, deputy minister of education stated that contests support determination of talented pupils of in the lower grades. Relevant support in the schools will be one of main directions of ministry’s activity in 2015 for correct organization of work with talented pupils.
Fuad Muradov, member of Milli Majlis stressed great importance of the contests, olympiads in the improvement of pupils’ knowledges. According to deputy, such knowledge contests make opportunity for high level participation of the pupils in the olympiads held at international level.
Emin Amrullayev, deputy head of department on educational development programs of The Ministry of Education informed about subject contest.
E. Amrullayev pointed that, contest has been conducted on two directions including mathematics and natural sciences (chemistry, biology, physics). Schools have been represented with 9-man teams including 3 persons form every VII, VIII and IX grades on the subject of mathematics in the contest. Up to 600 pupils took part in the knowledge contest held in three phases.
Goal of contest is to increase interest of the pupils to different subjects, create condition for them to demonstrate their skills and abilities, form strong competition sense among the pupils and detection of talented pupils.
Emin Amrullayev presented specialy translated and printed means for the pupils who want to participate in the olympiads on the subjects of mathematics and informatics. One of this means are the issus used in different years in the republic subjec olympiads held on the subject of mathematics an its settlement as well as book that consist of translation of the issues on international mathematics olympiad in Azerbaijan language. In addition, questions of international “Kangaroo” contest which reflects non-standard mathematical problems have been issued for low-grade students after translation in Azerbaijan language.
Pupils who individually kept I, II and II place on the subject of mathematics, chemistry, physics and biology, have been awarded to diploma and medals in the ceremony. Students that are in the first ten on each subject have been awarded to the prizes. Secondary schools who kept I, II and III places on mathematics and natural sciences in team score, have been awarded to cup.
