• Azərbaycan Xalq Cümhuriyyəti hökumətinin 1918-ci il 28 may tarixli qərarı ilə maarif və təhsil üzrə ilk nazirlik-Xalq Maarifi Nazirliyi yaradılıb. Nazirlər Şurasının 30 iyun 1918-ci il tarixli qərarı ilə Xalq Maarifi Nazirliyinin üç şöbədən (ümumi orta təhsil, ali və orta ixtisas təhsili, peşə məktəbləri) ibarət strukturu təsdiq olunub.

    Azərbaycan SSR Xalq Komissarları Sovetinin 28 aprel 1920-ci il tarixli qərarı ilə Xalq Maarifi Nazirliyinin adı dəyişdirilərək Xalq Maarifi Komissarlığı adı ilə yenidən təşkil edilib və ölkədəki bütün təhsil müəssisələri bu qurumun tabeliyinə verilib.

On September 10, in Guba Hall of Hyatt Regency Hotel took place educators conference of Baku.

First, conference participants visited the Alley of Honors to pay tribute to the national leader Heydar Aliyev and lay a wreath at his tomb. They also put flowers at the grave of the prominent ophthalmologist, academician Zarifa Aliyeva.
The conference was attended by representatives of district executive power offices of Baku, different government and non-government organizations, prominent scientific figures, heads and teachers of secondary schools and extra-curricular establishments.
Head of Baku City Education Department (BCED) Naila Rzaguliyeva gave a presentation entitled “Results for the 2011/2012 academic year and forthcoming duties.”
She congratulated conference participants on the beginning of new academic year and gave detailed information on works done by the department. According to N. Rzaguliyeva, there are currently 316 secondary, 3 major, 5 support schools and 1 home school, as well as evening classes at 5 prisons operating in Baku. 311 695 students are being taught by 29 870 teachers at these schools. 
Moreover, 5 schools were constructed, extra buildings for 32 schools were built and 68 schools were completely refurbished in the new academic year. Moreover, heating system at 3 schools were repaired and a gas line was laid at 2 schools. Noting schools were delivered 477 830 textbooks (221 items) and 2 893 manuals (32 items), the Head of Department underlined that 20 schools were presented “Best Secondary School”, and 51 teachers “Best Teacher” award within the “Best Secondary School” and “Best Teacher” competitions held in accordance with the executive order of President Ilham Aliyev.
She also spoke about the achievements of students in the republican round of subject Olympiads, in international sporting competitions, and touched upon statistics on students’ enrollment in higher education institutions.
Next, the winner of “Best Secondary School” competition, director of upper secondary school No. 141 of Baku Farah Huseynov, trainer and teacher of Specialised Youth Chess – Checkers School of Olympic Reserves No. 1 Farid Abbasov, president of the PTA of school-lyceum No. 20 Gulnara Aslanova, winner of “Best Teacher” competition, teacher of upper secondary school No. 144 Aksana Safarova, Heyransa Mammadova, who received 700 scores in the entrance examination and Head of Nizami district Executive Power Office Tahir Budagov made a speech at the conference. They highly praised works done by the Baku City Education Department to improve the quality of education, and talked about the progress made in the education field of the country.
Speaking at the conference Education Minister Misir Mardanov congratulated educators on the Knowledge Day, and wished them every success in the new school year.
The Minister spoke about the care and attention provided by the worthy successor of national leader Heydar Aliyev President Ilham Aliyev for the development of education and sientific fields of the country, as well as for educators. He also talked about important works done to provide more favorable learning environment. The Minister stressed an annual increase of educational expenses and brought to the attention of educators statistical figures.
Education Minister gave detailed information on works implemented to strengthen the school infrastructure and its logistic base. He noted that, 167 new secondary schools for 50000 pupils will open in 2012/2013 academic year. Moreover, 103 schools were completely refurbished, and extra buildings for 21 schools were built.
Mr. Mardanov also touched upon other important issues, shared his views with participants and gave relevant recommendations.
A film about the works done in the education field of the country, and gained achievments were demonstrated at the end of the conference.
