On June 22 the press conference devoted to the results of final examinations in the 11th grade of secondary schools was held at the Ministry of Education.
Having opened the conference Education Minister, Misir Mardanov acquainted representatives of media with the results of final exams held in the 11th grade of secondary schools of the country. According to him, overall, 88815 (96, 54%) pupils of the country took part in exams. About 74832 (84, 26%) people have successfully passed the exam. The Minister noted that there were comparatively to previous years large increases in the number of pupils, who successfully passed the exam. Having underlined about 24933 pupils took part in the exam held in Baku, and 4083 pupils in Sumgait, the Minister, informed that nearly 14 thousands of them got “unsatisfactory” assessment from one or several subjects.
Mr. Mardanov noted that despite posting the results of final exams for the secondary education level on the website of Ministry, series and numbers of school leaving certificates giving to the pupils posted there as well. Moreover, he underlined handover of certificates has already been started in Baku and Sumgait. After, the Minister informed that 51 winners of different subject Olympiads and sport competitions, as well as 570 people due to illness were exempted from final examinations. Moreover, Appeals Commission will work until June 26 on the school No. 276 of Baku.
According to the Education Minister 103 pupils will take part in exams, which will be held on June 23 and by the externship way. Furthermore, 13 pupils who could not attend the final examinations this year for a valid reason will participate in exams as well.
It was noted that 8586 people, who received “unsatisfactory” score from one or several subjects last year, have appealed for taking part in exams. About 6413 (74, 69%) of them took part in the second final exams for the secondary education course, 3852 (60, 07%) from them got “satisfactory” and 2173 (25, 31%) “unsatisfactory” score.
Having spoken on implementation of intra-school, national and international assessment programs, the Minister noted the expediency of improving the assessment policy, and organizing training in this field.
In the end of press conference the Minister of Education, Misir Mardanov answered to questions from journalists.
