On April 21 at the school No.60 of Yasamal district, by the joint organization of the Education Ministry, Baku city Education Department and Press Council took place a round table on the theme of “Educational institutions and media; mutual relations.”
Education Minister, Misir Mardanov, chief of the Baku city Education Department, Naila Rzaguliyeva, chairman of the Press Council, Aflatun Amashov, board members of the Council, and some school directors took part in the event. First, the guests have been acquainted with school No.60, and took part in lessons with new teaching methods. Afterwards, discussions on the frame of the theme of mutual relations between educational institutions and media have been held.
The chief of International and Public Relations Department of the Baku city Education Department, Zamina Aligizi, noted that their department has an intimate collaboration with media, and spoke about realizing works in this filed, as well as existing problems.
Having noted the importance of broadening relations between educational institutions and media, the chairman of Press Council, Aflatun Amashov, stressed that education journalists should help to solve problems in this field. Moreover, he emphasized that the Press Council, cooperates with the Education Ministry, and Baku city Education Department. Afterwards, he advised to the media editors and journalists to give a special importance to the education fields as one important strategic directions of the society. Having highly appreciated works carrying out in the education area, A. Amashov stressed that society should be informed in this direction continuously.
Having paid attention to the importance of this topic, the Education Minister, Misir Mardanov, noted that the society should be correctly informed about educational innovations. The Minister has emphasized, that cooperation with media is a push for positive results of carried out reforms in the field of education. The Minister, has noted the importance of holding such meetings continuously and has come forth with a trip of journalists and newspaper ’editors to rural schools, and familiarize with educational conditions closer.
The chief editor of the “Azerbaijan” newspaper, member of the Press Council, Bakhtiyar Sadigov gave broad information on the current situation of the journalism. He said that it is advisable for state institutions and journalists to fight together against media which is on the blacklist of the Press Council. Afterwards, he has invited intellectuals and head of educational institutions to increased activity and intimate cooperation, as well as noted that the Azerbaijan newspaper pays attention to the education sector and these works will be continued.
Vugar Safarli, Executive Director of the Fund of State Support for the Development of Mass Media under the President of Azerbaijan in its speech talked about works, which is jointly carried out with media. He also emphasized that the programs and projects approved by the fund are giving a special importance to the education area, and stressed that works at these directions will be strengthened.
Afterwards, Chief Editor of “Iki sahil” newspaper, head of the Press Council's commission on prevention of “racketeering journalism”, Vugar Rahimzade, noted that its newspaper and the Press Council are paying great attention to the educational field.
Having spoken at the round table the director of Public Relations Department of the Education Ministry, Bayram Huseynzade, talked about relations between the ministry and media, and gave suggestions and opinions on making bilateral relations better.
The school directors spoke about the publishing of materials in some newspapers, where the reputation of teachers is being damaged, as well as its influence on the public.
At the end of the event have been held discussions on increasing classification of the journalists writing about education, organizing of a joint contest of the Education Ministry, the Fund of State Support for Mass Media and the Press Council, as well as has been established a Working Group to prepare an action plan.
At the event, the Press Council presented to participants the blacklist with the name of 94 newspapers, which have been announced “racketeering press.”
