On January 30, Press Conference was held at the Ministry of Education regarding fall exam sessions progress of 2013-2014 academic year and operation of “Hotline” service of the Ministry of Education.
At the event Yagub Piriyev, deputy head of Science and Higher Education Department, Jasarat Valehov, deputy head of Information Department of the Ministry of Education, Irada Aliyeva, vice-rector of the Baku State University, Damad Bagirov, vice-rector of the Azerbaijan State Economic University, Nasimi Gasimov, vice-rector of the Azerbaijan Medical University, Asaf Hajiyev, vice-rector of the Baku Slavic University, Malik Jabrayilov, vice-rector of the Azerbaijan State Pedagogical University and Khalig Yagubov, vice-rector of the Azerbaijan Technical University responded to the questions.
Jasarat Valehov, deputy head of Information Department of the Ministry of Education greeting the press representatives stated that the related press conferences would be organized regularly. The deputy head told that Mass media would be regularly informed on exam sessions progress and operation of “Hotline” service according to Mikayil Jabbarov’s, Minister of Education, Order on “Organization and Conduction of Exam Sessions”.
Yagub Piriyev, deputy head of Science and Higher Education Department, informed that 94825 students at higher education institutions under subordination of the Ministry, 20567 at higher education institutions under subordination of other government units, 19127 at private higher education institutions gave exams within winter session period.
It’s noted that “Hotline” service of the Ministry of Education received 2789 calls for different issues since December 25 last year. 20 out of them are related to winter exam sessions. Appropriate investigations have been made based on the received calls and raised issues effectively solved.
Some of calls received by “Hotline” service were related to the delay in diploma awarding. This problem will be solved once and for all in 2014. Thus diplomas will be issued on the basis of information on successful students of fall exam sessions of last year to be submitted by higher education institutions to the appropriate unit established within the Ministry of Education. After agreement by the Supreme Attestation Commission the diplomas will be immediately presented to higher education institutions.
The Ministry authorities also emphasized that no any dues were considered for diploma issuance.
Then the representatives of higher education institutions responded to the multiple questions by press.
