Our students will take part in three international assessment studies
In 2022, Azerbaijani students will take part in three international assessment studies.
These assessment studies include:
PISA 2022 (Programme for International Student Assessment)
15-year-old students studying in our country will take part in the main phase of the International Student Assessment Study - PISA 2022 (Programme for International Student Assessment), a pilot phase of which took place in 2021. A study conducted every three years by the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) measures the ability of 15-year-old students to use their school knowledge in reading, mathematics and science to solve problems they encounter in life, at home. The PISA 2022 study will assess students' knowledge and skills in reading, mathematics and science, as well as creative thinking. Azerbaijan will take part in the PISA international assessment study on a computer-based, as it did in 2018.
ICILS 2023 (International Computer and Information Literacy Study)
In 2022, our country will take part in the pilot phase of the ICILS 2023 (International Computer and Information Literacy Study) - an international assessment study on computer and information literacy for 8th grade students. The study, whose main phase will take place in 2023, was first conducted in 2013 by the International Association for the Evaluation of Educational Achievement (IEA). An assessment study conducted every 5 years, along with an assessment of students' computational thinking, is an opportunity to collect data on how they are developing their problem-solving skills with computers at school and to make international comparisons.
TIMSS 2023 (The Trends in International Mathematics and Science Study)
In 2022, fourth and eighth grade students from our country will take part in the pilot phase of the TIMSS 2023 (The Trends in International Mathematics and Science Study) – the International Assessment Programme in Mathematics and Natural Sciences. The main phase of the study, which takes place every four years, will take place in 2023. The main aim of the study is to collect data to improve learning and teaching of mathematics and natural sciences based on student outcomes. Azerbaijan will participate in this international assessment study on a computer-based.
It should be noted that achieving a significant improvement of Azerbaijan's status in international assessments (PISA, PIRLS, TIMSS, ICILS) has been identified as one of the main goals.
