On April 27, a Steering Committee Meeting of the ‘Vocational Education and Training Reform Strategy’ project conducted by the British Council in collaboration with the Education Ministry, and financial support from the European Union took place.
The third report of the project has been listened at the meeting, as well as realizing works during the last six months, and planning measures for the next 6 months have been discussed.
Education Minister, Misir Mardanov has welcomed participants and gave information on the project goal. He talked about works carried out in the direction of building Tourism Vocational Education Complex in Ismayilli district, and added that representatives of the Ministry of Education, Economic Development, Culture and Tourism, Labor and Social Protection, Executive Power of Ismayilli district, European Commission Office, National Confederations of Entrepreneurs (Employers’) Organizations of Azerbaijan, and Centre of the Economic Reforms and Science Researches represented on the Steering Committee.
The main goal of the ‘Vocational Education and Training Reform Strategy’ project is the development of the non-oil sector in the Azerbaijan Republic, and other projects intend to be realized in the future, said Jean-Louis Lavroff, head of Operation Section.
The head of the project, Ann Castis delivered a lecture on achievements in the frame of the project, and about future duties. Having noted the appropriate knowledge and abilities development training of staffs and heads of the pilot school will be carried out, the guest underlined that staffs from the Tourism Institute and Mingachevir Tourism College should be involved to this school.
Namig Mammadov, Director of Vocational Education Department of the Ministry, said that the building of Tourism Vocational Education Complex in Ismayilli district is about to finish and appropriate equipment will be given to the school. He noted the pilot school teachers’ knowledge and abilities assessment had been carried out, as well as appropriate reports prepared. The Education Minister underlined the necessity of a correct structure of activity of pilot school, which has huge value for the future vocational training of Azerbaijan, as well as choosing staffs with modern leadership skills. Having noted the development of the vocational education is always at the centre of attention of the President, the Minister said that in the last years some success has been achieved in this direction.
Misir Mardanoy thanked the meeting participants and emphasized the project report has been accepted, as well as expressed hoped that the mutual collaboration will give more positive results in the future.
