Explosive ordnance and mines: Ministry of Education, European Union, ANAMA and UNICEF launches awareness program
On October 15, a joint Action Plan was signed between UNICEF, the Ministry of Education and the Azerbaijan National Agency for Mine Action (ANAMA) to expand the Partnership on Explosives Safety Awareness (PSTM) through 2022.
The signing ceremony included a presentation of UNICEF's joint action plan to support children and families affected by the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict in the Karabakh region and surrounding areas, with financial support from the European Union, in partnership with ANAMA and the Ministry of Education.
It has been reported that explosive remnants of war (ERW) and mines remain as one of the greatest dangers for families living in conflict-affected regions. The program is expected to reach about 100,000 people, including 20,000 children. Thanks to humanitarian financial aid provided by the European Union, this program will help to raise awareness of children and families on the risk of landmines and explosive remnants of war (ERW). The program provides for various education activities on the dangers of explosive ordnance, including needs assessment, preparation of informational materials such as posters, brochures, community and school based activities.
