“STUDY IN AZERBAIJAN” project
Date of creation: 2019 academic year
Purpose: To provide relevant information support to foreigners wishing to receive higher education in Azerbaijan, as well as to answer inquiries sent to the email address and social media accounts of the “Study in Azerbaijan” (SIA) project.
Information: The website studyinazerbaijan.edu.az serves as the official source of information on education for foreign students in Azerbaijan. The SIA portal highlights a wide range of issues related to higher education for foreigners in Azerbaijan. These include reasons for choosing Azerbaijan for study, educational programs offered by higher education institutions at different levels and in different languages, scholarship opportunities, admission rules and procedures, information about graduates, statistical reports and conditions of study in Azerbaijan.
Scope: In the academic year 2024-2025, about 11,000 foreign students from 105 countries study in higher and secondary specialized educational institutions of our country.
The students mainly represent Turkey, Pakistan, Iran, Georgia, Russia, India, Syria, Nigeria, China, Kazakhstan and other countries.
Out of several hundred candidates from 47 countries who applied to the “Heydar Aliyev International Education Grant” program jointly implemented by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Science and Education in accordance with the decree of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan dated 8 July 2023, 100 people from 35 countries were awarded the education grant for the academic year 2024-2025.
The selected candidates were entitled to study at the bachelor's (basic higher medical education), master's, residency and doctoral levels at 10 higher education institutions in Azerbaijan, including Baku State University, Azerbaijan Medical University, Azerbaijan State University of Oil and Industry and Baku Engineering University.
About 70 foreign students from about 50 countries, who are citizens of the member states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and the Non-Aligned Movement, are studying within the framework of educational grant program established by presidential decree.
For the academic year 2024-2025, 47 foreign students from the People's Republic of China, the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Republic of Tajikistan, the Republic of Serbia and Romania have been granted the right to study at higher education institutions in Azerbaijan within the framework of Intergovernmental Scholarship Program (ISP).
Within the framework of the ISP, 109 foreign students from Romania, the People's Republic of China, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan and Serbia are currently studying at higher education institutions in our country.
