“The Digital Skills” project
Date of creation: 2017-2018 school year
Goal: Deep mastery of ICT skills by students, achieving free and purposeful activity of students in the information environment, to ensure that students are shaped as individuals with a competitive, logical and non-standard way of thinking.
Information: The project is implemented by the Ministry of Education and an international educational company “Algorithmics”. By improving the teaching of the subject "Informatics", the project develops students' algorithmic thinking, logical thinking, project building skills and teaches the basics of programming to them.
Scope of the coverage: It is applied in 250 schools in cities and districts such as Baku, Sumgait, Ganja, Sheki, Shirvan, Shamakhi, Lankaran, Bilasuvar, Mingechevir, Goychay, Sabirabad, Shabran, Khachmaz, Salyan, Yevlakh and Shamkir and covers over 190 000 pupils in Azerbaijani and Russian sections of classes II-IX. The number of teachers working in the project is over 1,580 people. From 2021, the project also covers full secondary schools for children deprived of parental care.
