Education workers commemorated the victims of Khojaly tragedy
The memorial ceremony dedicated to the 24th anniversary of Khojaly tragedy was held at Azerbaijan University of Languages.
The event was attended by employees of the Ministry of Education, general educational institutions, secondary schools and primary vocational-professional education institutions, operating in Baku.
It should be noted that the ceremony was organized in order to raise awareness about Khojaly genocide at the request of the “Justice for Khojaly” International Campaign Public Union established to coordinate the “Justice for Khojaly” international campaign launched in 2008 at the initiative of Leyla Aliyeva, Vice-President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, General Coordinator for Intercultural Dialogue of Islamic Conference Youth Forum for Dialogue and Cooperation.
Jasarat Valehov, Head of Public Relations Department of the Ministry of Education, noted that Azerbaijani civilians were killed by Armenian armed forces in the Azerbaijani town of Khojaly. J. Valehov underlined that hundreds of people were savagely killed in one night and the Khojaly massacre was recognized as the tragedy of humanity all over the world.
Then, the speakers underlined the necessity to give the political and legal assessment of the murder, committed with extreme cruelty against Azerbaijanis in Khojaly, at the international level and to punish the perpetrators of this crime. They spoke about the work done in this direction within the framework of the “Justice for Khojaly” international campaign implemented since 2008 at the initiative of Leyla Aliyeva, Vice-President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation.
Then, the memorial ceremony was continued with discussions, and Farid Jafarov, General Coordinator of the "Justice for Khojaly" international campaign, answered numerous questions of education workers.
