General information
General education field activates in accordance with the Constitution of Azerbaijan Republic, Education Law, proper decrees, decisions and orders, Regulations of the Education Ministry and other normative documents. Democratization of education management, increasing independence, creativity, initiative and responsibility of the education departments, as well as institutions are identifying priorities of the general education development. Moreover, the organization of psychological service, social-pedagogical care, study and dissemination of advanced pedagogical experience, revealing and development of talented children and pupils, application of ideas of the pedagogical collaboration, achievements of pedagogical and psychological sciences, advanced methods of teacher- innovators, educators, heads and workers of educational establishments, together with relevant departments of the Ministry, strengthening of educational material resources of educational institutions are constantly at the centre of attention. The main duties facing by the general education system are raising the educational level of pupils, fulfilling the training plans and programs, using expedient educational and material resources, provisioning of creative activity of the heads, teachers, and educators of boarding schools and orphanages, as well as elimination of existing shortcomings.
In the schools of the Azerbaijan Republic are teaching Azerbaijani language, including Russian, English, French, German, Talish, Avarian, Lezgian, Hebrew, Sakhur, Khinalig, Udin and Kurdish languages.
In recent years, systematic steps taken to implement the obligatory general education, establish new educational institutions, involve young workers to education, fulfill urgent measures to surround school age children by education; prepare social and economic development plans of the education area, and corresponding programs connected with reforms.
The pilot projects of the inclusive education, in accordance with international experience, are realizing in the country. Arrangement of seminars, consultations, conferences for educators, development of relations with other Ministries, offices, international humanitarian and national public organizations in the appropriate direction provide the rapid development of general education field.
The realization of the events under sub component of ‘Curriculum reform,’ in the framework of Education Sector Development Project, the development of creative potential of the special talented children (youth), realization of the Action Plans in the direction of execution of the State program on De-Institutionalization and Alternative Care, fulfilling duties to take centralized exams, analysis of the situation, concerning the results of student enrolment to universities, as well as preparation of appropriate offers and, etc. requires a special attention.
Appropriate works in the direction of a new subject curriculum application are carrying out.
Works in the direction of organization subject Olympiads, which play a significant role in revealing of talented pupils, are performing in a high level, as well as corresponding actions in order to guarantee the participation of the country team in the World Olympiads of 5 subjects (mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology and computer science) are realizing. Every year, a competition, which holding in accordance with the order of the President of the Azerbaijan Republic ‘On founding best school and best teachers’ awards,’ stimulates the secondary school system development, as well as gives an additional incentive to the educational establishments and teachers activity.
