Document on delivery of ICT equipment signed

The Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Azerbaijan and China International Center for Economic and Technical Exchanges signed a document on delivery of ICT equipment on September 19.

The document was signed by Minister of Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan Mikayil Jabbarov, Minister of Agriculture Heydar Asadov and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People`s Republic of China to Azerbaijan Wei Jinghua at secondary school No 23 named after T. Hasanov.

Minister of Education Mikayil Jabbarov hailed Azerbaijan-China cooperation as broad. He said that under a memorandum of understanding in the field of education, 43 Azerbaijani citizens studied in China, while 41 citizens of the People`s Republic of China studied in Azerbaijan on the basis of a mutual scholarship program. “Apart from getting education, these students will play a crucial role in studying history and culture of both countries and strengthening friendship between the two nations.”

The minister said that under the agreement, which was signed in 2016, 20,000 laptops, interactive whiteboards, projectors, printers and other ICT equipment were delivered to the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Agriculture through the technical assistance of the government of the People`s Republic of China to be used in learning process.

Minister of Agriculture Heydar Asadov said the delivery of ICT equipment will not only contribute to the development of relations, but also play a vital role in improving skills in the agricultural and education sectors, improving research activity and expanding information and advisory services.   

Chinese Ambassador to Azerbaijan Wei Jinghua said they are ready for cooperation with Azerbaijan in all areas, particularly education.

Department head at the Cabinet of Ministers Nail Fataliyev said a large number of well-educated and skilled young people were prepared in the country. He said state-of-the-art equipment will soon be delivered to vocational education institutions.

The project aims to modernize the education system, increase its international competitiveness, expand the application of ICT, ensure access to quality education for all layers of society through meeting rural schools` demand for ICT equipment.
